There are only three weeks left until the comet comes and everyone is on edge. Even the people in town seem more excited, but Zuko just says that's because Spirits Day in in a few days. After much confusion from myself and Sokka, Zuko was nice enough to explain to us what it is. Apparently it's believed that Spirits Day is the day that the spirits are able to cross over from the Spirit Realm very easily. In order to protect themselves everyone makes bright colorful masks, so as to confuse the spirits. People also hallow out gourds, carving peaceful symbols into them, place a candle into them, and then setting them outside of their homes, along with some form of food offering, as a sign of peace.
But as years past it has now turned into a fun day where children dress up as spirits, going around asking for sweet treats, and carving faces into the gourds. Aang got very excited of the idea of participating in the celebration because he told us it was similar to a holiday that the monks would celebrate called Yu Lan. We all then agreed that it would be a fun idea to celebrate Spirits Day. Well everyone expect Zuko. And I'm pretty sure the reason he was put off by it was Sokka started teasing him about wear his Blue Spirit mask, that he had no idea we knew about, but he did agree to carve gourds with us.
A little drabble, that I hope to continue, in which the gaang talks about celebrating Spirits Day(or Halloween if you will)
I also experimented the 1st person. But I'm sure I failed.
Also feel free to follow me on Tumblr, MsScarletTaylor, I post some drabbles on there that I don't post here.
