The sound of the judge's gravel echoed through the courtroom the words still buzzing inside the young boys head
"Steven Joseph wilder the court finds you guilty on the charges of breaking and entering, theft and attempted murder. You are also found accountable for two robberies and several cases of credit card frauds. You are hereby sentenced to seventeen years in prison without payroll in the local penitentiary."
"Moreover….."the judges eyes moved towards the young boy seated in the first row of the stands behind the convict "the sentenced underage son Jack Wilder due to no available guardian will be put in custody of a court appointed foster care till he is of age."
The twelve year old boy slowly raised his bowed head and the judge was surprised to see that the boy was not crying, intact he didn't even look sad. The boy level his gaze to the judge's eyes and the judge was horrified to see that the expression was utter and pure hatred emitting like waves of energy towards the man who had just taken away his only family from him. The man had gotten his fair share of criminals who had given him similar looks including many serial killers ,yet for the first time the judge felt truly terrified .The judge's first thought was that the kid could not be human. He didn't know how right he was but then again nor did Jack Wilder himself.
Ellen Hathaway the head of the foster institute looked up from the file at the miserable young boy seated in front of her .He was dressed badly in a dark colored jacket far too bid for him and jeans that seemed as if they had never been washed. He had dark black hair and dark eyes and looked seemed short for a twelve year old and very skinny. The boy's appearance clearly showed that no one had genuinely cared for him in a very long time.
"So Jack" she began reading his name from the file" I am Mrs. Hathaway, the head of this institute and seams you will be staying for us with for some while so I need to know a little bit about you. I know your father is in jail and you are scarred but don't worry everything will be fine"
"Now this file has no mention of your mother .Do you know where she is?"
The boy shook his head "when was the last time you met her?"
As is overcome by a sudden emotion the boy cried out in a much deeper voice than she had been expecting
"I never met that bitch, dad said she dumped me at his doorstep and never showed her face again." All the years had taught Ellen to get out the rough details as soon as possible "So they were never married and she never contacted him again?"."Dad said it was only a onetime thing or something "."And since then he has been raising you alone "." you can call moving me around from city to city raising."
"Did he ever mention any details about your mother like where she was from or anything like that?"
"Just that he met her at a bar in the city and they hooked up a couple of times. He thought she would be loaded the way she used to dress all fancy and yet she dumped me at his rat hole"
Mrs. Hathaway wrote a few lines on his file. She truly felt sorry for the poor little kid in front of her.
