Tris' POV
I wake up in a blank room. Everything is white. The walls, the sheets, my clothes, the doors,... everything. Why am I wearing a white dress? Who changed my clothes? How long have I been here? Do I even care?
I mean, isn't this what I wanted? To save my family, to go after them. I just always thought it would be under my terms, not theirs.
The questions race through my mind and while I'm trying to calm down, the doors open and Jeanine steps inside. There's a quick flash of light that burns my eyes for a moment, but my vision adjusts a moment later. That's when I can see clearly how missfortunate I am. Jeanine is holding a syringe in her hand which can only be a bad thing.
"Ah, finally. My favorite prodigy is awake!" She squeals of happiness and looks at me like some lab rat. Is that what I am? Because I'm handcuffed to my bed, unable to move anything but my head and chest. She saw me looking at the cuffs, so she explained: "We had no idea if you would resist, so this was only a precaution. We're all very sorry." She didn't look sorry, though. If anything, she looked pleased. I said nothing and for a moment, I thought she expected for me to say that it's okay.
If she did, she isn't the smartest person I know. I can't say she is dumb, because she isn't, but she isn't smart either.
"Okay, the silent treatment it is, then. We'll inject this into you," she points at the syringe. "It's a simulation serum, but we're still testing it. You're going to be of big help here. Since you're one of the most extraordinare Divergents ever, you'll be able to help us big time."
They don't even know me. I'm everything else but extraordinare.
As she moves forward, I hold in a scream, but try to release myself from the cuffs. There's personel that holds me down and I'm unable to move. The last thing I hear Jeanine say before I drown in the sea of the simulation is:
"Your family will be very happy to see you, Beatrice. Or at least what's left of it."
What's left of it.
