He could feel her tense up as she hugged him. After a minute he took her shoulders and gently pulled her off.
"Okay Lil, spit it out" he instructed. When she raised a brow he crossed his arms.
"Don't give me that look, I know you wanna lecture me" he responded. Lily shrugged in reply. "Fine, I just think you're not the only victim in this" she said.
"She doesn't trust me Lily! Okay, yes I made a mistake but that was years ago, I thought we'd…."
"You got married only a month ago Ted" Marshall cut in. "I'm guessing the moment she left for work you called us and broke your promise to her"
"I didn't know she would be at your house" Ted broke in. "You still could have waited another day Ted" Marshall replied calmly.
"I should have known you'd side with her" Ted muttered. "I'm on your side too pal" Marshall answered him sharply. "All we're saying is look at it from her side too before you make your decision" he added.
"Then what Marshall?!" Ted snapped. "I am so sick and tired of falling in love with a girl and having it end badly. I just want to be happily married" he whined.
"Then be happily married Ted" Lily told him.
"Not if it means going back to losing my friends again" Ted told her.
"Then you have to start over Mosby, either grow up and start acting like an adult or give up again and find someone new to love" Lily told him.
"But I don't want…"
"That's too bad Ted! You wanted our advise so here it is! Go home and have a long heart to heart with your wife and try to make it work. Either do that or go get divorce papers because it's obvious you're not ready to commit to her" she snapped.
"You think you're such a know it all" Ted muttered lightly. "No, I just think you guys are idiots at times and I'm trying to help you, I'm done this time Ted, if you want to be an immature baby then do it with someone else" Lily snapped forcefully and stormed off.
"Sorry pal" Marshall whispered before he followed his wife. "They always make up because they truly love each other" he mused aloud. Ted sighed and turned around walking the opposite way. He tried to just reconcile with his friends and made everything worse. Now all his friends and Victoria seemed to dislike him. He knew they were right though, it was time to grow up and act like one as well.
Okay, so I hope this explains a little why I think Victoria is acting so mean in my story. Put yourself in her shoes if you will. Ted almost cheated on her with Robin once. Now a month into the marriage he runs off without talking to her and ends up with Robin again. I really don't think these two can make it since neither really trusts each other.
