Chapter 14

Trapped

Phoebe could feel someone pushing on her and a voice that was like a whisper. She opened her eyes and hoped it was just all a bad dream, but once she felt the throbbing on her head and her hands securely tied behind her back, she knew it was not. She began to look around and blinked slowly as her vision was making its best attempt to focus. She looked down at her feet and saw what was pushing her. It was Piper who was using her feet that were bound to wake her.

"Phoebe," Piper said a little louder this time.

"Oh my head, where are we?" Phoebe asks as she used the wall and what she could of her hands to sit up.

"A shed, we need to get out of her and find Prue and get both of them to a hospital or the beacon," Piper replied while Paige was already up and bleeding badly from her leg.

"That may be a problem considering we are tied up," Paige said but was having issues staying awake.

Piper looked around at the ground for anything that may help, but it was dark and hard to see. The shed was made of wood and the roof was apparently made out of tin as she could see rust above her. "Look for a nail or something that we can use to get these ropes off," she said and Phoebe did her best not to vomit while looking around.

"You don't think she is-."

"No she just went under the surface to keep from being shot again," Piper cut off Phoebe as she felt something that felt like a nail head. She used her good hand and began to pry it out. The nail head was also rusted and sharp so it cut into her fingers. Every turn was like rubbing your fingertips over a dull razor.

"Guys what if they come back?" Paige asks while her eyes were closed and her head was resting on the walls of the shed.

"Paige stay with us and don't worry we will get out of this," Piper said while continuing to turn the nail as they could hear footsteps just outside. They all held their breaths as they got closer but then stopped just outside. They could hear voices and seemed to be the man and woman talking. Piper worked harder on getting the nail out and while cringing and keeping in the pain she pulled it out. She used the tip to get some cuts in. Luckily the rope was thin and she managed to get it loose enough to free her hands. She then went to her feet and untied them. She was just about to go over and do the same to Phoebe when they heard a gunshot. Piper paused for a moment and quickly went to freeing her sister. Phoebe was a much better fighter and they may need too, in order to get out. Piper was having issues considering she was missing one finger, but she did manage to get her hands-free. Phoebe began to untie her feet while Piper went to free Paige. They could hear a lot of rustling noises just outside and then another gunshot.

"Prue, you don't think they found her?" Paige asks while Piper helped her stand.

"I don't know, but be ready and get near the door," Piper whispered back and they all stood to the side of the door to surprise anyone who comes in. Paige had to lean on Piper as her leg has lost circulation because of blood coming out of the wound. Piper looked down and could see a puddle forming and took off her belt. She then tightened it around Paige's upper thigh to stop the bleeding. Paige squeezed on Piper's shoulders as the sudden lack of blood flow seemed to hurt. "You ok?"

"No but the show must go on," Paige replied as Piper stood back up. They could hear the door opening and ready themselves to do what ever needed to be done. Phoebe could see the tip of a rifle coming in and immediately grabbed it. She pulled it out of who ever had it and then pointed it at the door. Even though she has never fired a gun in her life she understood the mechanics, just point and shoot.

"Wait its me," Ted said with his hands up as Prue came in behind him. She was holding her shoulder that has a hole in it from the bullet that went straight through.

"Ted, Prue," Piper said and ran to hug her. Paige slid down the wall as she was both relieved and losing consciousness.

Piper saw her go down and went over to her. "Paige wake up its ok," she said but it was like shaking a rag doll. "No no Paige come on," her voice cracked.

"We can use the air boat to get to a town not that far from here," Ted said and picked Paige up to carry her. He had to step over two bodies. The wife and husband were clearly dead but none of them cared as they would have probably killed them to keep their poaching a secret.

They all got on the air boat as Ted put Paige on the floor and then went to starting it. Prue sat down on one of the chairs and began to look for something to stop the bleeding. Phoebe found a towel and considering they were supposedly close to town she didn't care how clean or dirty it was. "Here this should help," Phoebe said and applied pressure. Piper could tell that Paige was struggling just to breathe and held her head on her lap.

"Come on Paige just hang in there," Piper said as the engine started.

Ted back up out of the dock and then put it in forward to had to town. The advantage of an air boat was that it could go over land as well as water. He was able to cut through patches of swamp grass like he was going over snow.

"How did you get to Ted Prue?" Phoebe asks.

"I made it back to the boat and then on my way back I ran into him as he was hunting," Prue replied.

"Ted we don't know how to thank you," Phoebe said as she looked up at him while he was negotiating the boat.

"If you have any girlfriends that would like to live off the land in the swamp, send them my way," he replied as some lights began to come into view in the distance. "Ok we are close now, just about ten minutes," he said.

"Here that Paige just ten minutes," Piper said but got no response from her baby sister who was clearly unconscious.

"They thought we would turn them in for it and they would have killed us?" Phoebe asks.

"Yes its a serious offense here, a huge fine and jail time," he replied.

"Ted you wont get into any trouble will you?" Piper asks.

"No it was self-defense, well as long as you guys tell your end of the story to the police," he replied.

"No problem, and some of us have the wounds to prove it," Prue said while holding onto her shoulder. She was lucky that the bullet hit the upper part and just went through muscle, but it still hurt like hell.

They were just about to the dock of a small town when everything stopped. The boat was frozen in place as well is Ted. They were the only ones moving as an elder orbed in front of them.

"You need to heal Paige now," Piper demanded as she stood up. He bent down and healed her leg along with Prue's shoulder. Paige was now standing with the rest of them.

"It seems you made it to civilization," he said.

"Heal Piper's hand please," Prue said and he put his hand out. She put hers on his and a swirl of blue-and-white lights went around her hand and now her finger was back. She opened and closed her fist happy to have all five digits in their rightful spot.

"So we can go home now?" Paige asks.

"There may be some issues, like the two dead bodies and Ted," he replied.

"They were going to kill us, he saved us," Piper said afraid of what he might do to Ted.

"I am aware but we have some cleaning to do. Ted's memory of you and this event will need to be wiped and the bodies removed," he said.

"So do it," Prue said wanting desperately to go home.

"Let me ask you something do you feel connected?" he asks.

They all rolled their eyes as this game of theirs was getting old. "Listen, so we don't have slumber parties every weekend or talk to each every everyday, that does not mean we do not love each other or that our connection is any less than it was before. The fact is we survived which means we had to work together and yes we are going to argue, because everyone of us strong-willed and stubborn, but when it comes to protecting each other fighting evil our connection is strong and we work together. So you do what you need too," Piper replied while folding her arms as the others nodded.

"If it was up to me I would put you back in the middle of the swamp but it is not and unfortunately due to the fact that your absence is causing a surge of demon activity, we have no choice but to send you home. You have a lot of work to do and maybe when having to fight evil, you will prove yourselves to us again," he said and with a wave of his hand they orbed away and were now back at the manor.

"Ass hole," Piper said under her breath as Leo came in from the kitchen along with Henry and Coop.

"Thank god," Leo said and hugged her as her children came running down the stairs.

"Mommy," the boys said and she picked them up. "You smell funny," Chris said while hugging her.

"I know honey," Piper said while laughing a little. Phoebe's babies where being held by Coop.

"Hello my little tater tots, and big tater tot," Phoebe said as she kissed her babies and then Coop.

Paige had two twins that were only about a year old. Henry hugged her and then let her go to the babies that were in the crib and the living room.

Prue stood next to her husband," We so need to have some," he said and she smiled as she has wanted children but never seem to have the time.

Leo told them about the surge of evil activity as they all took some time to relax as the kids either played or just fell asleep.

"No rest for the wicked," Paige said as she shook her head side to side.

"At least your home," Leo said while pulling Piper in close to him,"Wow you do smell funny," he said and she smacked him on the leg playfully.

"Well that's a problem for tomorrow, today I will take a long shower and sleep in a very comfortable bed, that is devoid of alligators, spiders and pythons," Piper said and got up to remove the funny smell that her family keeps bringing up.

"I hope Ted's okay, hopefully they did not give him a lobotomy," Phoebe said.

"He was interesting, I wonder why he just left everything behind especially having a degree from Harvard?" Paige asks.

"Some people prefer the quiet life unfortunately he ran into us," Phoebe replied.

"I can't believe the elders let you guys even go through that," Coop said.

"Yeah and for the first time ever I'm thankful that there is a surge in demon activity, or we would have been put back in the middle of the swamp," Paige said.

"One of these days the kids will old enough, it's both scary and a relief that you guys can retire," Henry said while holding his sleeping daughter in his arms.

"One day," Paige said while smiling at her babies.

They would all have a restful night sleep as a new challenge awaits. Whether or not the elder was correct about them not connecting was about to be tested.
