~Your P.O.V.~
BBRRIIINNNGGGG! The alarm rang WAY too early for your liking on this Monday morning. Stretching, you rose slowly. It was 7, and work didn't start until 9. The only reason you woke up so early was to make sure you didn't sleep in too late. (Which you were known for doing.) You swiftly dressed and got ready. "I can't wait until my furniture arrives." you thought. Back aching, you headed downstairs.
The sun was just rising when you opened the shade. As soon as you opened it, the sun painted the living room with an orange glow. The warmth of the new day was already beginning to show.
Next, you headed to the kitchen where your breakfast of pears awaited. You mentally celebrated your last meal of pears while you ate them silently. Afterword, you took care of the fork and threw the can away. Checking the clock, it was still too early to head to work. "8:17." you thought. Since you had about 20 minutes you laid down on the floor and thought about the day ahead of you. You really hoped your boss wasn't going to be a creep; you were too tired for that. You also wondered how training with Ludwig would go today.
With the 20 minutes boringly spent, you headed out the door for the first day of work.
"Whoa." You thought looking away. The sunlight was really bright, and you squinted at the ground. Closing the gate in front, you swiftly made your way down the busy Monday morning street. You joined the other commuters silently and walked briskly.
Soon enough, the sub shop where you were to begin came into view and the sense of dread grew tenfold in your stomach. Taking a deep breath you walked into the small restaurant.
As you walked in it was exactly like it had been the day previous; dimly lit, and smelling of garlic. There was a slight line of business workers getting a quick breakfast sandwich. You walked in slowly and looked for the manager. Soon enough you spotted him coming from the back with an order of sandwiches. Walking over to the counter nervously, you tried to look normal.
Your boss looked up and spotted you. "Ah! Signorina there you are! I'll be right with you." He said, ringing up peoples orders. Soon enough, the line was gone and he walked over to you.
"Ready for the first day of work?" He asked.
All you could muster was a "Mhmm."
He laughed. "I'll take that as a yes! Alright I'll start of by telling you to call me Beppe. Ok, you already know you'll work the cash register slash waitressing while I'm making the orders. I'll get you an apron in a bit. Let's see what else…" he trailed off.
To your surprise, he was being a normal, not pervy, organized boss.
He continued talking. "Well I guess I should go over the basics. The bathroom is in the corner if you or a guest needs it. Don't be rude to the customers, which is a given, and try to be pleasant. We can tag team to clean tables if we are busy. Also, try to know the menu pretty well in case of any questions. I'll give you a copy at the end of the day. I think that's all, the rest you'll just have to get the hang of. Do you have any questions?"
You shook your head. "No, I think I got it."
"Bene!, Then let's get you started." He walked to the counter. "Let me teach you how to work the cash register."
You walked to where he was standing. Soon, you learned to work the register nicely in between customers. Beppe got you an apron as well and work started on a good note.
"Maybe this won't be so bad after all." You thought as you took someone's order.
~Lud's P.O.V.~
"Today is (f/n)'s first day of work with that creep of a boss." Ludwig thought as he sat up in bed. He was still drowsy and yawned. "Ugh, I need to just not worry about it; I'm sure she'll be fine."
He stood and stretched slowly. Today was going to be a long day. He was excited for this evenings training session though. The German wondered what he was going to do until then. He had finished all the paperwork that was necessary for this month, so that was out of the picture. "Well no matter what I can't do anything in my boxers." He thought. Going to grab today's outfit, he yawned once more. He got dressed, exited his room and headed to the kitchen to grab breakfast.
Japan was already there when he entered.
"Good morning, Kiku." The blue eyed man greeted him.
"Good morning." He replied. "You're up rather late, Mr. Germany."
Ludwig made a weird face and looked at the clock. It was close to 11am.
"Wow, your right. I must've been tired." He responded.
Ludwig did the math quickly, (f/n)'s shift started around two hours ago.
"Hai." The Japanese man responded.
The room went quiet and Germany made his breakfast, which consisted of two pieces of toast. In the back of his mind, he was still worried about (f/n). He tried to drop it once again as he took a bite of his toast.
Just then Italy came into the room yawning. Ludwig shielded his eyes. "VERDAMMT ITALY PUT SOME CLOTHES ON! HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU I HAVE TO TELL YOU!?"
This scared Italy. "WAH GERMANY I'M SORRY I FORGOT!" He ran out of the room quickly.
Japan gulped and straightened out his kimono. "Uhm well, what a normal day in this household." He said, going back to his chores that he'd been doing.
Germany sighed. "Ja."
The room grew silent and distant bird chirped loudly.
Ludwig finished his plate of toast and threw away the paper plate on which the slices had sat. Finishing the juice he was drinking, he set the glass in the sink.
"Would you like help with the dishes?" The blonde asked.
Kiku responded quietly. "No, I can do them…"
"Alright I'll dry them and put them away while you wash them then." Ludwig grabbed a towel and started drying the dishes. He knew the Japanese man; he would never ask anything of anybody. Plus, Ludwig wanted to try to ease his nerves over (f/n). He wondered how well (f/n) and him could do dishes together. He bet she'd look cute..."NO! BAD MIND STOP IT!" the German thought.
"O-oh um ok." The Japanese man said. said.
The room was quiet for a bit more until Italy re-entered the room-thankfully with close.
"Watcha doin'?" He asked, rocking on his heels.
Kiku responded first. "Washing dishes."
"Can I help?" The Italian man said happily.
"Fine, you can put the dishes away." The German said.
"Ok~" Feliciano said as he started putting silverware away.
The three of them worked on the dishes silently and efficiently until they were all done. Germany took a look a look at the clock; the job had taken nearly a half an hour. "Ugh this is going to be a REALLY long day." he thought.
Japan interrupted his thought process. "Is it ok if I go for a little walk?"
"You know you don't have to ask permission." Germany pointed out.
"Hai…"
Italy spoke up. "Can I come?!"
"Hai…"
The two made their way to the door to put their shoes on. Italy was busy chattering away about extraneous things while Japan listened. Ludwig followed the duo to see them off. Soon they had their shoes on and were out the door.
"Well, what now?" The blue eyed man thought. He unconsciously went to his room and sat in the chair in the corner. He looked at the side table on which sat his book. "Maybe I'll read for a book for a bit, that'll get my mind off of (f/n)." He picked up the book and began reading, instantly remembering that it was a romance novel. After a few minutes, his mind had wandered back to (f/n) and he struggled to pay attention to the book. He struggled for about 20 minutes before he couldn't take it and set the book back onto the night table. Ludwig had enough; he was going to check on (f/n). After he scarfed down yesterday's dinner so he didn't make Kiku feel bad, he took a quick shower, got dressed, and left the house in a rush.
~Your P.O.V.~
You were currently washing a table. You took big round swipes until it was sparkly, then put the "decorations" back on it. The back of your neck pricked and you looked to where you sensed a pair of eyes. Beppe was looking at you through the window from the kitchen to the cash register. He disappeared and came through the doors a few seconds later. Your stomach was starting to get antsy, and it didn't help that business was slow at the moment so the shop was empty. He strolled over casually.
"You're doing a wonderful job for a first timer." He spoke plainly. "Keep up the good work!" And with that, he walked to a faraway table and started to clean it.
"Well that wasn't what I was expecting…" You thought. You continued to clean tables until a customer came in. You went to the register and looked at the clock. Your break was at 12pm and it was around 11:50 now. You were getting hungry.
Looking up from the cash register, you looked at the latest costumer. You gasped a little for it was none other than Ludwig. "Is that why my boss didn't make a move?" you thought. Dismissing it, you concentrated on your work.
"Hi Ludwig, what would you like?"
He smirked a bit. "Nice apron."
"Oh so you came to just mock me eh?" you said teasingly.
Unexpectedly he blushed a little. "N-no, I came here to order a sandwich…"
You smiled. "Then what would you like?"
The German ordered and paid. Beppe headed to the back to make it.
You rocked on your heels. "So why are you really here?"
He looked shocked. "What do you mean?"
"I know you're lying, why are you really here?"
"How can you tell so easily?"
"Suzanne taught me." You said jokingly.
He took it seriously. "Shit, really?"
You laughed. "No, you're just a terrible liar."
There was a silence before Ludwig went silent and looked at his feet while mumbling something.
"Hm?" you asked.
He looked up. "I said I came to check and make sure you…to make sure you're alright." He looked everywhere but at you.
Now it was your turn to blush. "Um…uh thanks, but you didn't have to…"
There was an awkward silence before the blonde spoke quietly and came a tad closer. "Did he try anything?"
You blushed, appalled. "Ludwig!" and you almost said more when Beppe walked back out with the German's order.
"Here's your order Lad."
Ludwig took the sandwich, while you stifled a laugh.
"Danke."
You looked the clock; it was officially 12. Turning to Beppe you asked, "May I go on my break, sir?"
He smiled, but had an oddly cold look in his eyes. "Of course. "
You took off your apron and hung it on a rack. You turned to Ludwig. "Want to go for a quick walk?"
The blonde responded rather quickly. "Sure."
The two of you walked out the front door and turned to the left. Strolling down the street, you felt the warmth of the now fully risen sun. Ludwig talked first.
"So you never answered my question."
"What?"
"Did Beppe try anything?"
"Oh yeah…" you trailed off.
Ludwig stopped. "He did?!"
You stopped too. "Oh, no, I just didn't finish! To my surprise, he hasn't tried anything. Beppe has just been a normal boss."
He looked relieved. "Oh, good." Lud started walking again.
There was a small silence before your stomach growled.
Ludwig must've heard. "You want my sandwich?"
You shook your head profusely. "No, you ordered it, it's yours."
"Honestly, I just came to make sure you were ok; I ate last night's leftovers before I came." He said, looking away and slightly mumbling.
You smiled. "That's sweet of you."
Another silence came before Ludwig jerked the sandwich in your direction. "Here." He said quietly.
You took the sandwich hesitantly. "Thanks."
It was the same sandwich the two of you had consumed last night. You took a bite and it was just as delicious the second time.
Ludwig looked bemused. "Taste good?"
You giggled. "Maybe…"
Ludwig and you strolled around the street slowly and silently while you ate.
"This would be the cute scene in the movie where the guy reaches out and slowly takes you hand." You thought, reminiscing on the thought. Realizing what you were thinking you shook your head to clear the thoughts. The blonde shot you a weird look.
"It's nothing." You said, slightly blushing as you thought a tad farther. "I wonder if Lud would be a good boyfriend…" That made you blush harshly. But the blushing brought another thought. "Am I attracted to Ludwig?" Mulling it over, you decided he was indeed cute. "No, scratch that. He's hot. I think I could see us dating. It is cute how he seems so shy with me…" That brought up another question in your mind. "Does he like me? He never seems to look me straight in the eye…" You dismissed it; it was probably his personality. After all, he seemed like the kind of guy who is just bad with women in general.
Ludwig noticed your red face. "What's wrong? Do you feel alright?
This pulled you out of your thoughts. "Hm? I'm fine, why?" You decided to play it like you were confused.
He looked away. "No reason, you just looked a little…red."
"Oh." Was all you said. Deciding you would talk about it with Suzanne later, you tried to make small talk as you rounded the block. You were now on the way back to the restaurant and the sandwich was just about gone. "So how has your day been?"
He cleared his throat slightly. "Good. I woke up later than normal, but other than that everything has been normal."
"That's good…" You trailed off.
You threw the sandwich wrapper in the nearest trashcan as the restaurant came into view. "Anywhere you want to go? I still have 15 minutes until I have to go back."
"Not that I can think of..."
Silence.
"You want to get some gelato?"
"Um…sure."
You and the blonde walked toward the nearest gelato shop. After ordering the two of you sat down on the curb outside with your treat. The two of you talked while you ate.
"So what is it like being a country?"
He answered quickly. "Stressful."
You laughed.
The German continued. "It's basically meetings and paperwork, not to mention the occasional war and people's stupidity."
"Have you ever been injured in a war?"
"Well of course, I'm out there just like all the others."
"Oh."
"Yeah…"
"What are the other countries like?"
"They're all really different. America is loud and obnoxious, China always has a panda, Britain's cooking sucks, and the list extends infinitely."
"Hmm…"
"Maybe I can take you to meet them sometime." Lud said.
"Oh no, you don't have to knowing three countries is enough."
"Too bad, I've made up my mind."
You punched him playfully. "No fair!"
He chuckled lightly.
Germany finished eating his gelato with you closely behind. Throwing away the trash, you and him left to go back to the restaurant.
As you walked back it was mostly quiet. Ludwig asked you a couple of questions too.
"So what is your life like?"
"Um, like a normal girls I guess…"
"What's your degree from college?"
"I majored in (M/PM)."
"Interesting choice."
Both of you rounded a corner and started crossing the street. You saw something out of the corner of your eye and turned to look at what it was. Unfortunately you were too late. A car horn blared and headlights flashed across your vision quickly. The car came straight at you and you screamed. Suddenly your vision was blurred and then went black.
