I didn't begin to work on this story until yesterday night, which was surprising because I didn't have school on Friday and it took me until around 8pm to even start on it when I was home all day. We had a snow day and it looks bad outside. There is a small layer of ice with several layers of snow on top so, no school. However that does not excuse my laziness for not typing like I should have been. Shame on me.

This one was requested to me by Z! She came up with this idea and I was unsure about doing it because so far in my drabbles I have not yet introduced Doc, Donut or Lopez the Heavy. To suddenly put Doc in the story makes me feel kind of awkward. So this story is going to be AU from my AU drabbles. If that makes any sense. None of the drabbles after this for a while will be like this one. They will go back to just Wash, Caboose, Tucker, Vant, Sarge, Simmons, and Grif. I never really did like Lopez 2.0 so I'm not writing him. Just know that he is there.

Sorry to confuse everyone but that's just they way it has to be. Anyway, please enjoy and review if you want…

It was around the time that everyone gets sick in the valley. There was a defining chill in the wind that had settled in the air. Meaning sickness was sure to follow in right behind. Everyone in the valley had dreaded the illness and the cold. Luckily, Donut along with Doc had arrived in the valley. Originally they had been the rescue party but when that plan failed, they were stuck here as well as the others.

However Doc was there. He could take care of them if any of them got sick. Actually he had brought his supplies to prevent sickness from coming to them in the first place. A medic had to come prepared everywhere he went afterall. Although medics aren't really trained to save people or cure them of sicknesses, really they are there to make people feel comfortable before they died. Doc though, sucked at that and decided to actually try and help people.

So there he was, giving shots to both teams to void off any and all diseases for the oncoming winter season. No one in the valley knew what to expect out of the winter on this new planet. Whether is was similar to that of Earth or not. Everyone there just hoped that it wouldn't be that bad, no one wanted it to snow nonstop and have something bad happen because of it. Since they couldn't be sure, they all needed the shots. Since Doc was already at the Red Base, he went ahead and gave one to everyone there.

Sarge had accepted and welcomed the slight twinge of pain that had come from the needle piercing his skin. The Red leader placed a good example for how they all should take the pain. Simmons however whined at the needle, hating the pain and swearing against ever having another. Why did he even need the shot, he was a robot afterall… Grif had made fun of him for acting like a girl, but acted worse than Simmons had. Cursing and screaming in all. Donut had taken it much like Grif, just more civilized. This left Sarge to feel ashamed of Red team, deciding they were all a bunch of big babies.

After getting done with the Reds, Doc made his way over to Blue Base to begin with them. Tucker had offered to go first to get it over with. It surprising did not hurt as much as he thought it would, it had been a long time since his last shot afterall. Doc had made sure that he was comfortable enough for the shot unlike what he did for the Reds. He liked the Blues much more than the Reds.

Caboose was next but was nowhere in sight. Tucker told them it was because Caboose had never been a big fan of pain in the first place and despised needles with a passion. Tucker predicted that there was no way Caboose would get the shot without persuading from Wash. So Wash headed to their shared bedroom where Wash knew he would be, walked in to greet Caboose.

"Caboose? What's wrong? Why are you out there?" Wash asked even though he technically already knew the answer. Caboose was afraid of needles. Simple as that, but Wash at least wanted to try and help him. It was the least he could do.

"I don't want a shot Wash. I would rather get sick." Caboose told Wash with unfaltering seriousness. Wash knew that Caboose was telling him the truth but almost didn't know how to handle the situation. He couldn't be like Sarge and command him to get over it and get the shot anyway. He had to be patient with Caboose and take everything one step at a time.

"You don't mean that Caboose. Besides if you don't get the shot then I won't either." Wash told him. Caboose sat up from where he was laying on the bed to walk over to Wash.

"You can't do that Wash. What if you get sick. I have a better I…immune? Immune system. Yeah that's what Tucker calls it." Caboose declared as he tired to think of a way to convince Wash to get the shot without himself getting it. Although that would be hard to do. Wash was more stubborn that Church had been and meant every word that he said. Wash would not get the shot if he didn't. He wanted Wash to get it, but needles scared him. He didn't want to deal with a needle of any kind.

"So? My statements stands." Wash said crossing his arms and Caboose knew he would have to give in. He would do anything to protect Wash in anyway, espically against viruses. Even if it meant he would have to get a shot, he would do it. For Wash. So he reluctantly agreed and went to go get his shot from Doc.

Wash held his hand, and told Caboose to look him in the eyes the entire time, that it would be just fine if he didn't think about it. So Caboose tried his best to do just that, but found his eyes wondering to look over at the needle that Doc was preparing for him. Caboose tightened the grip he had on Wash's hand and snapped his eyes back at Wash. Silently pleading for Wash to get him out of his situation. Wash set his free hand of Caboose's face.

"It will be okay. I'm here. Don't think about it." Wash soothed Caboose quietly, trying to get Caboose to not pay attention. Soon enough Doc had given him the shot, and Caboose had hardly felt it. Caboose was relieved, and so was Wash's hand. The ex-Freelancer had forming bruises on his hand where Caboose had been squeezing him from anxiety. Now that it was done, Caboose could relax. However Doc started to pack up his stuff, which confused Caboose. What about Wash?

"Doc why are you leaving? What about Wash?" Caboose asked while Doc was about to walk out of their Base, the medic was staying over with the Reds. Doc looked back with a sympathetic smile on his face.

"I didn't have enough for everyone. I had mine before me and Donut left to come here and I only packed six to bring with me. I thought that Donut had his before we left but apparently not. Wash said he would miss out on the shot over anyone else." Doc said before leaving. Tucker smiled slyly for he knew the only reason why Caboose had even got the shot. For Wash. Caboose had realized this as well.

"You tricked me into getting the shot over you didn't you?" Caboose asked kind of stunned at Wash's trickery. Wash shrugged slightly, wanting Caboose to understand why he had done it in the first place. That he wanted Caboose to stay healthy through the winter even if he couldn't.

"I'm sorry Caboose. I really am. I just wanted you to get the shot. I didn't want you to get sick." Wash admitted and Caboose sighed. Knowing now it was too late to change anything.

"I guess this means I am going to have to watch over you more this winter so you don't get sick. I will protect you from the cold and viruses Wash!" Caboose announced loudly. Wash jumped slightly but smiled at Caboose's words. Tucker rolled his eyes and walked away. Now Caboose would have to stick closer to Wash then ever before so that Wash wouldn't get sick, not on his watch. Although Wash had tricked him, Caboose was glad that he did. Wash had helped him get over one of his older childhood fears and Caboose was grateful for what Wash had done for him. At least he was no longer afraid of needles like he had been. He had Wash to thank for that too.

This is one of my longest ones that I have written in a long time. I loved it too. I was so glad that Z requested it. I didn't expect to enjoy writing it as much as I did. It was so much fun so I hope that you enjoyed reading it.
