Kono took that opportunity to walk back into the house with my script and an entourage of Doris and Joe who had taken custody of her for the time being, I stood up and Danny stood in front of me; Doris just looked at us both and she moved towards Steve. I flinched towards him and Danny stopped me by squeezing my hand.
"I know you are still upset with me Sarah and you will just have to deal with that at a later time, I came here to see my son and speak to him alone in my house!" she called.
I glared at her and opened my arms to show the house I had made a home with Steve over the last few months, the house that was finally empty of bad memories and violence; I hissed at her and she raised an eyebrow at me.
"This hasn't been your house and Steve hasn't been your son in over twenty years – you walked out on him and this life – don't think I won't come after you if you start fucking about with him!" I replied coldly.
She looked at me and stopped walking, my heckles were up and she sensed that I was hurt and annoyed by her being here in the house I helped call a home again to Steve; the rest of them knew I wanted her out of here and were ready to jump in if I ended up going after her blood. Joe stood between us and Kono moved towards me with Danno still holding onto my hand, Doris saw that and she smirked.
"Are you aware of Daniel having feelings for Sadie Steven, or has she kept that secret from you too – seems she is working her way through the ranks!" she whispered.
"That's enough Doris, and for your information everyone has feelings for everyone else in this room – it's called a family – something you seem to have forgotten about!" I replied crossly.
Steve glared at me and started to move towards me to get me calmed down again, Doris walked in front of me instead and looked me up and down – she was beyond pissed herself now and I was ready to scalp her.
"You really don't like me do you, what has you so worked up – the fact that I faked my own death or the fact that I created a new life to survive?" she whispered.
I was right in her face, claws at the ready to invert her face if she kept going.
"You are a coward to have hidden, you caused this whole mess due to your CIA investigation and its now up to your child to clean up the mess you made by running away! You should have done everyone a favour and not bothered to come back at all – or died for real!" I hissed.
"Sadie, that's enough young lady!" Joe hissed at me.
"You can go to hell Joe – you've been helping her for the last twenty years and left her son to think she was dead – you are as guilty as she is!" I hissed at him back.
Everyone was watching the ping pong match going on and could feel the walls closing down around us if this wasn't resolved soon; Doris was the first to respond to my last remark and took a step back, just out of reach of my immediate fingers.
"We had our reasons to hide Sarah, reasons that you know nothing about and it ripped my family apart – you do not get to judge me on this – you've ripped families apart by working the other side and by getting your team mates killed – you don't walk away with clean hands!" she retorted.
I could hear the emotional flinching the others made at the cruel rebuke she made at me; a rule of our Ohana is never using low blows – it causes resentment that can fester. I turned to her and straightened my shoulders; she clocked the military move and took another step back.
"I was under orders and I tried everything I could to save my friends, you were busy playing spy mom and got yourself so deep into the shit that you wrecked your children's and husband lives!" I hissed back.
She smirked at me and looked directly at Steve before facing me with a grin.
"What would you know about a parent's love for a child, I did everything I could to protect them and had to make the sacrifice to keep them safe – your parents died in a car crash didn't they, mom and dad have a few drinks too many and wiped out their and your brothers lives in one go! Oh yeah, I am aware of how they died, when I first met you I ran a background check through my sources – I was willing to give you a chance with Steve because I thought you would be a distraction for him while he found someone better – someone with a more stable mental history who hadn't been used as a whore by Al Qaeda!" she yelled back at me.
I punched her in the face and lunged at her, Danno grabbed me and Joe held back Doris who was picking herself off the ground. The whole place was silent and Steve was staring at me in horror at what I had just done, the rest of them where thankful I wasn't armed!
"What the hell is going on between you two – you got on like a house on fire when you first met and now you can barely look at each other?" he demanded.
I looked up at him and he was pacing the room, running his hands through his hair and blowing off some steam, I took a deep breath and took a seat on the couch and cooled down my temper; it took Steve a moment to do the same and then he came over to where I was sitting and swapped places with Danny for a moment.
"I know you can't stand to see her in this house at the moment but she needs to answer my questions so we can figure out why WoFat went after you, and how he knew about you since he hasn't been on the island in over two years. If you can't get your temper under control then at least go upstairs and rest, I can fill you in when we have some time alone!"
I looked at him and nodded, I was too sore and the headache from the head wound was causing my blood pressure to jump around the place and cause black spots around my vision – if I was going to pass out then I would do it on my bed. I got off the couch and made my way to the stairs; Doris looked at me and smirked.
"Not going to kill me then or are you too tired?"
"If I wanted you dead bitch you wouldn't be breathing right now!" I replied bluntly.
"SADIE!" Joe yelled.
"Sadie, go rest – you heard what the doctor said!" Chin called.
I made my way up the stairs and decided to go for a really hot shower to get my composure back, I don't know why but Doris being in the house again had my protective instincts at full alert; I partly knew why due to that stupid dream and the fact I didn't want her to upset Steve anymore. I grabbed clean clothes from my shelves and headed into the bathroom.
"Okay Sadie, time to get a grip and deal with the facts one at a time, right now you need a shower – snap to soldier!" I whispered to myself.
