Several hours later
I parked up at Kahlua Basin and waited on the contact who had information for me, it had been several hours since the scene in the house and I had no intentions of going back there anytime soon if Doris or Joe was there – I couldn't even switch on my phone as I knew they would be looking for me via GPS. I had brought my old pre-pay phone with me, one I knew had no GPS on it and was a number not known to any of the team; it was the one that we were issued when we were allowed to call from training. I saw the lights from the car coming up the pathway and I got out of the car, the other vehicle stopped and a man walked out – I sent him a warm smile and gave him a hug.
"Been too long soldier, thinking that you had forgotten about me?" he whispered.
"Forget about you, with that cheeky charm and Texan whit – never!" I replied.
He looks me up and down and nods in approval, I'm dressed up in my black cargo pants, black t-shirt and jacket – typical wear for me.
"You look good Sarah, stronger than the last time anyway and I bet it has to do with that SEAL you've bunked up with?" he grinned.
I went slightly red and he laughed.
"Did you manage to get anything from ICON, anything at all Marcus?" I inquired.
He pulled out a flash drive for me and frowned slightly, he needed to know why I wanted this information and what I intended to do with it; did it have anything to do with the recent resurface of a terrorist his team was tracking in DC?
"Everything and I mean everything we have from the last two years is on this drive and I pray to god you know what you are doing? This asshole is a butcher, he took out Hiro Noshimori and chopped him up into pieces before sending them to his son by FedEx – he tortures anyone who comes across him and I know he captured McGarrett two years ago in North Korea. Why the sudden interest in him, is he linked to a case?"
I took the flash drive and shook my head; I had always been honest with Marcus since I was introduced to him back at the Sparx Operational briefings for our first assignment, he gave no bullshit and took no bullshit – clean information was his claim to fame and he never disappointed anyone who asked for his expertise in looking through the raw data. I raised my shirt and he noticed the marks across my stomach that were melding together into one massive bruise, he clicked immediately that they were mixed with contact burns and his eyes flashed to mine in understanding.
"When the hell did that happen?" he demanded.
"Just over 18 hours ago, I was introduced to WoFat and some of his Yakuza enforcers; let's just say they ran the power and water bill up!" I replied.
"He tortured you? – I need to inform base command – you're going to need support if you're thinking of going after these guys?"
He had pulled out his smartphone and started typing up an email, I brushed his hands away gently and he looked up, frowning at my reaction.
"Not until I have solid evidence and a location for him, he's sneaky and lethal – I'm not going to go in half-cocked and risk people!" I replied.
Marcus just looked at me and then hissed through his teeth, he had worked with me often enough to understand what I was planning in the future, something he was not happy about and he had just handed me all the information I would need to complete the preparation. He tried to take back the drive but I dodged him and slipped it into my small pouch at my hip, no way in hell was he getting this back until I was done with it.
"You're going after WoFat, I thought you wanted information on the rogue SEAL unit that he has? What the hell are you thinking?" he hissed.
"I'm now thinking about the potential leak that you just confirmed, I suspected there was a rogue team somewhere, but I don't think they are actual SEALS – maybe Drops?"
"What are you planning, please tell me you aren't thinking of doing anything alone – the last time you did that you nearly beheaded someone!" he whispered.
I looked up at him, of course he would know about Matt's rescue and my knife skills.
"Marcus this is a long story that I don't have time to get into at the moment alright, you need to get off the island and back to DC, wait on my call and if I need information then you need to pass it to me through the usual channels. I'll send you details on my MIX and how to contact me if required – will you do this for me?"
"Sarah you can't go after these guys alone and the team you are with are painted with bulls eyes by this guy - you make a move against him then he will take out your friends. This guy is now de-facto head of the Yakuza and is making waves like you have never seen before – things are changing in the underworld and quickly – are you really prepared to go against the whole of his army?" he replied grabbing my shoulders.
"Yes, because this asshole has pissed me off enough that I am considering going back to active status to get access to the Intel reports from SATO. There is a specific team who are aware of my training and they are on standby at a moment's notice across the island if something like this comes up," I replied.
"And what would McGarrett say to this choice? I know you Sarah and I know you are really good at your job and can handle yourself, but this is personal and I don't think you fully understand the whole scenario – there are players in this organisation that we are unaware of yet and they have control of a shit load of weapons and technology that can cause major casualties!"
"Which is why I contact the remainder of the team, the CO at Skapa is going to contact them over the next ten days with information – I know at least one will be out due to her injuries at work, but the other is a chemical and biological terror expert, she is vital to this even if she has to train me if she can't come herself!" I replied.
"Sarah, all things aside you would break Steve's heart if you did this without telling him, maybe a joint OP with both of you back in uniform while on Pearl – four eyes instead of two – tag team everything and everyone and get results!" Marcus replied gently.
"That was a thought I was having myself and one I will seriously consider, I don't want him hurt by my actions, but I need this to end on my terms – I need you to get top clearance from Olympus and contact me when we have the clear!"
He looked at me and then nodded; he knew my training and background, knew that I could take care of myself – he was more concerned about my lack of temper control that led to risky manoeuvres and the increased lethal action required. He pulled me in for a hug and handed me a small notebook, I put it in my pocket and after a kiss on the forehead he headed back to his car and sped off. I headed back to my own car and slipped the drive and the notepad into my bag and clipped on my Bluetooth to make a call to HPD Dispatch, they confirmed that the team were not on a call and were on standby as requested. I started up the car and headed down the pathway and back onto the main highway, making a beeline straight for the gym in the basement of the HQ.
