Chapter 4; Ten Cent Pistol
...She hit them with her ten cent pistol
Because they ruined her name
Well, she hit them with her ten cent pistol
And they've never been the same...
New York City; 1903
After the death of her parents, Luna was able to convince Antonia to leave England and sail to America with her. Antonia agreed because she didn't want the constant reminder of her parents. Luna thought she would be happy to be back in America, but it was so incredibly different. It's amazing how much things can change in only a century. She missed the simplest things, like cell phones and running water. Now she was living in New York City with Antonia, trying to think of a way to get New Orleans when the Originals left. So far, she had come up with absolutely nothing.
To make matters worse, Antonia was completely depressed. She woke up screaming almost every night because of the memories. Luna had finished cooking dinner, and sat Antonia's plate in front of her. The other girl sighed and looked at her descendant. She looked like she wanted to say something, but didn't know how to say it.
"Did you have a question?" Luna asked.
Antonia paused and said; "Yeah. When you become a vampire, do you lose your magic?"
"Yes," Luna replied.
"But that story you told me, about Silas. He didn't lose his magical abilities," Antonia stated.
"No, he didn't, but he wasn't really a vampire. When Esther made the first vampires, she tweaked that spell to fit her own needs," Luna replied.
Antonia paused to think, and said; "So, we could both tweak the spell?"
Luna laid her fork on her plate and looked seriously at Antonia. It was rare that she was ever this serious about something. "I am already an immortal, so I don't need to be turned. If you want to be a vampire, why do you need a special spell?" she asked.
"Luna, I don't want to die. You can't just expect me to not want to help you after you've told me everything about the future. I won't have anything to contribute if I'm simply a vampire. I need my magic," she said.
Luna sighed and thought about it. She made a valid point, and she definitely didn't want Antonia to die. They were best friends now. Antonia was like another sister to her. She sighed and said; "Okay, fine. I'll see what I can do. But, if I can't find a way for you to keep your magic, I'll just turn you into a normal vampire. You'll still be just as badass as you are with your magic,"
New Orleans; 1920
The Originals had left the quarter, and Luna knew they'd be in Chicago by now. She desperately wanted to follow them, but she had already sent Mikael on a wild goose chase by sending a phony informant. Mikael had killed the poor excuse for a vampire after getting the information he needed, but Luna couldn't worry about that right now. She had just thrown Marcel out of the city, and had threatened to rip his heart from his chest if he returned. Now, she was asserting her place as the head-bitch-in-charge of New Orleans. After all, she was the future princess!
There was a knock on the door, and Antonia stuck her head in. That was another thing she was able to do. They had found the spell for vampirism, and tweaked it so Antonia would keep her powers. She was second in command. She was the one responsible for all the parties that were going on in New Orleans. She was making it famous.
"Luna, there's someone here to see you," she said.
Luna nodded, and Antonia opened the door fully. In walked Alexia Branson- they became best friends in 1912, when they met caring for the survivors of the Titanic. "Lexi!" Luna exclaimed, "It's so good to see you!"
"You too, miss queen of New Orleans," Lexi teased after giving Luna a hug.
Luna laughed. "Yeah, well, someone has to run this place," she joked. "Oh, by the way, are you still wearing your necklace?"
"Yep, I got it right here!" Lexi said.
"Good," Luna replied. She had made necklaces for certain vampire friends that worked much the same way as the Gilbert rings. She knew Lexi was going to die in the future, and she couldn't change much about that, but she could make sure that her death wasn't permanent.
"So, I didn't just come here for a reunion," Lexi said.
Luna nodded. "Okay," she replied. "What's up?"
"Well, I might have lost Stefan a little bit," Lexi replied.
Luna raised an eyebrow, and smirked. "And of course he's gone off the rails again, right?"
"Just a little," Lexi sighed.
"Yeah, I heard about the… Ripper of Monterey, was it?" Luna asked.
"Yes, but now he's left Monterey, and I have no idea where he went. Since you're the psychic one, I thought maybe you could help me," Lexi said.
Luna nodded and said; "Well, if I were you, I'd try Chicago. Lots of booze, lots of partying… it's a ripper paradise."
Lexi nodded. "Thank you, Luna. Really, it means so much," she said.
"You and Stefan are both my best friends. Stefan has… issues with blood, and I want to make sure that he's okay. You're the only one who can help him. Just bring him back in one peace, okay?" Luna said, before adding; "You two will always be welcomed in the quarter."
Lexi nodded and thanked Luna again before leaving to find Stefan. Luna sighed and walked to her closet to prepare for the party Antonia was throwing. She forgot what it was for, but she had to make an appearance. She took one last look at her appearance in the mirror. Luna had cut off her hair to her chin, and it looked okay. It was the style, so she would play along. Antonia had done the same to her pretty brown ringlets, and they both looked stunning in their glitzy dresses. She gave her dress one last adjustment before following Antonia to the party.
So, how are things with you all? Have you missed me? Well, I apologize for my lack of inspiration, but I have returned! *happy dance*
Okay, so, I hope you'll enjoy this chapter. It should be the last chapter set in the past. I'm sorry it's so short. I'll make sure the next chapter is longer. Anyway, I have made a tumblr for this story, and all you have to do is go to my profile to check it out! :D
