Epilogue
Thirteen Years Later
Bella watched as the young girl drag the young boy to the escalators that led upstairs, to the baggage claim. The young girl bounced at the balls of her feet as she craned her neck to look out for their visitors. Her tight grip on the young boy didn't loosen at all. Poor kid.
"Okay, Laura, EJ, slow down," Edward chuckled as he took Bella's hand.
Laura whipped her head back towards Edward. Her dark eyes were twinkling excitedly. "They're coming right?"
Bella nodded. "Their plane just landed. Give it a few minutes."
Laura returned her attention to the escalator. EJ watched Bella for a few seconds before he followed suit. Bella's grandson was already showing signs of imprinting this early in his life but it won't be for another twelve years before it becomes official. Everyone is Bella's family already knows who EJ will imprint on and she's holding his hand tightly.
Bella watched Laura as she began bouncing again, the curls around her ears bouncing along with her. The girl looked exactly like her mother except her hair and eyes were black, like her father's. Since she was born three years ago, Bella could see parts and pieces of Laura's mother and father in her. She had her mother's perseverance, leadership, and determination but she also has her father's bravery, loyalty, and cheerfulness.
Of course, she also has her parents' supernatural blood, being half werewolf, half Nephil. It was no wonder she was EJ's imprint partner. The child they will create will be the strongest that ever walked here on earth with Nephil, vampire, and werewolf blood running in him or her.
EJ returned to them. Bella's grandson smiled brightly up at her, as bright as the sun. He looked exactly like Jacob but had Nessie's brown eyes, the same eyes Bella had before she woke up to the vampire life. The young boy called her forward.
"I'm really nervous," he whispered to Bella's ear. This will be the first time the boy sees Nora and Patch as far as he could remember. She could understand why he would be nervous.
Edward crouched in front of EJ so they could be face to face. "Don't be. They are great people and they'll see what a great little guy you are."
"They won't keep me from seeing Laura, right?"
Bella chuckled, "I don't think they would be able to do anything about it even if they wanted to. Just because they're here doesn't mean Laura will stop playing with you."
EJ nodded, still unsure. "Okay."
"They're here!" Laura shrieked, jumping up and down now. She grabbed EJ's hand again and ran back to the escalator "They're here! They're here!"
Sure enough, Bella and Edward saw Nora and Patch descend down the escalator. Almost immediately, the air electrified just by the Nephil's and the Fallen Angel's presence. Bella remembered the days when they trained and fought together. These two were powerful beyond understanding. They were both forces to be reckoned with. Nora and Patch didn't change at all. They looked exactly the same the day they fought the Volturi.
Laura let go of EJ's hand and ran to her mother's arms, who received her with a great kiss. Patch was smiling. His eyes were soft as he watched the young girl, a stark contrast to their normal steely form. He seemed to relax the moment Laura hugs him too.
Three years ago, Nora, Seth, and Patch came to Alaska, where Bella, Edward, and the rest of the Cullen family had moved. She requested for Carlisle to perform an artificial insemination with Seth as the donor. The three stayed in Alaska with the Cullens until Laura was born. Jacob, Renesmee, a one-year-old EJ, and the rest of the pack had visited them from Forks when Nora gave birth.
Even though the child wasn't his, Patch's face softened the moment he saw Laura. Ever since then, Patch has loved her as if she was his. Whenever they visit, Patch made sure he spent some time with Laura. The child stayed with Seth at Forks while Nora and Patch remained in Coldwater. But both never missed a birthday, a Thanksgiving, and a Christmas in the young girl's life. They were there whenever she needs them to be.
When the young girl was old enough to ask questions, she asked Seth why her mother wasn't with him, like how Renesmee and Jacob were together. She asked him why they weren't a complete family and if her mother loved her. Of course, Seth couldn't explain it to her fully but he did tell her her mother loved her greatly and Patch loved her greatly. When she's old enough, maybe everyone in her life, including the Cullens, will explain everything to her.
"You've gotten so big, little squirt," Patch heaved the girl up to the air before catching her solidly in his arms. The way Patch looks and how his eyes stared at her lovingly will make anyone think he's her father.
"That's my new goal," the girl giggled as Patch kissed her cheek. "I'm going to grow up as tall as the trees at Forks!"
"Oh really? Say hi to the clouds for me, all right?" Patch smiled.
"Okay! EJ, Bella, Edward! Mom and Patch are here!"
Patch handed Laura back to Nora as he shook Edward's hand and gave Bella a stiff hug. "How are you guys doing?"
"We're great," Bella said as she gave Nora a hug. Laura's feet were already back on the floor and are running around, chasing EJ around the airport.
Edward called EJ and presented him to the two. "Nora, Patch, this is EJ, our grandson."
"Nice to meet you, EJ," Patch said pleasantly, offering his hand to the small boy.
He took it shyly. "You're powerful."
Patch's eyes flickered towards Edward questioningly. "We believe that's his ability. He could sense and name a supernatural being's powers."
Patch nodded understandingly. "Yes. But you don't have to be afraid. I'm your father's and your grandfather's friend. If it's okay with you, I'd like to be your friend too."
EJ smiled. "Sure!"
Patch turned his attention back to Edward. "How's the vampire government?"
"The Denali coven is faring well. They've accepted the responsibilities of their job and the whole society had gotten to learn how to respect them as the new leaders," Edward answered to Patch's unspoken question.
Bella and Nora were listening as Nora guided her luggage towards the exit. Edward respectfully took the bag but continued without missing a beat. "Of course Stefan wasn't too pleased when he found out he wasn't nominated for the position but the remaining vampire covens and some of the nomads all agreed it would be best of Tanya and the rest of her family ascended to the position."
"You never wanted to take it?" Nora asked.
"It was never our plan to in the first place. All our family wanted was to live the rest of forever safe and together and that's what we have," Bella answered.
Patch nodded, understandingly. "I see. I guess the Denali coven is good enough to lead the vampires. We haven't heard any news from our heavenly friends either. But then they have promised to leave us alone until Laura turns sixteen."
They all glanced at the children walking hand-in-hand in front of them. Nora had explained everything to Seth, his tribe, and the Cullens before she went through the pregnancy. They know the risk and they have been doing the best they can to show the Archangels Laura is not a threat. It wasn't hard at all, at least in Bella's opinion. It's apparent the young girl has a pure heart. There was no way she was going to be an evil force in the eyes of the Archangels.
"So, how's Seth?" Nora asked Bella.
"Excited to see you," Bella admitted, throwing a teasing smile at Patch. "He's preparing a huge Christmas dinner as we speak. Of course, none of my family is going to eat at all but he figured the pack and the two of you will enjoy it."
Bella turned to Patch. "And you have to behave. I heard what you two did to the kitchen last Thanksgiving at Charlie's place. Nessie said it took them weeks to fix the kitchen."
Patch shrugged. Even though he didn't want to admit it, Bella knew Patch and Seth had become friends despite the fact Seth imprinted on the only woman Patch will ever love. "It was just some rough housing that got a little too far."
"Nonetheless, Patch, behave," Nora warned, suppressing a smile.
He grinned. "All right Angel, I will."
They all headed exited out to the bitter cold. The two children seemingly unbothered by the temperature. They both smiled back at the adults before disappearing inside Edward's van. Bella couldn't help smiling back. No, these two will never be dangerous to humans. Kindness live in their hearts and the Archangels won't have a reason to tear them apart. Something in Bella's heart tells her their forever will finally be peaceful.
The End
