"Um..hi," I said again.
I saw something that looked close like disappointment in Jack's eyes but it disappeared and his eyes returned to being stone cold blue.
"Where's Eli?"
"In here," Eli called from inside, "Oh and you can let yourself out, Ice."
I twitched, "Shut your pie hole," I said before leaving. I left the door open for Jack and walked down the hall with my hands in the pockets of my jeans.
Would I even call this my first heartbreak? No, he didn't even deserve that title. I was just angry that I seriously didn't take the time to get to know him and find out who he really was before I slept in his room and let him kiss me. It wasn't my first kiss, but it bothered me that I got one from him.
I walked to the pit and leaned over the chasm. Time to make some rules: 1, I thought, no more guys until after initiation. 2, no more bars until after initiation. 3, talk to Matthew and tell him to stop with the pranking. He might be doing that to distract me.
Crazy like a fox-!
I looked up instantly and saw Matt walking towards me. Speak of the devil, I thought, "Hey, I need to talk to you."
"I need to speak to you too."
"You do, okay…you go first," I leaned over the chasm. He did the same next to me.
Matt looked like he was thinking. Suddenly, he said, "I'm with you in the fight against Death. And you do, need my help since you're not very focused on the arcana at all. I would think your grandmother would do a better job."
My eyes flashed, "Don't do that," Matt said, "You'll transform and this isn't really the place for that."
"That are you talking about?"
"Claws, hair, eyes, your powers, its okay to practice that but not in public. And you might want to find how to change so anger wouldn't be the only trigger."
"Matthew, what are you talking about?"
I'm the Fool-
My mind was forced into sort of a flash back. My grandmother and I were talking about the cards. The sounds were muffled but I knew the cards she was showing me: Temperance, Tower and Justice. And then the scene changed into a dark and disclosed location. The first thing I saw was the dark knight on a white horse. I shivered, wherever I was. I watched as he killed Temperance and Tower and then later, Justice. He stood where he was after, then he turned to me, wherever I saw. His dark eyes looked into me and I gasped, wherever I was. I snapped out of the vision to find myself looking at Mattew.
"Sadly, I can't show you without Death seeing you."
"T…That was Death?" Oh my God what? "So, you're the Fool, in a teenagers body, and that was Death…and…okay," I was staring hard at the chasm now.
"You are the Empress."
I gave him a look. How could possibly…, "Does the Empress have red hair…with leaves coming from it and sharp claws and…all those things and does she like poisoning people with her spores?"
Matt looked me curiously, "Yes, why?"
"Um…I had a dream about her. And today my nails were doing this thing… and before initiation about 2 days ago my hair turned red. And just now I said the Empress call."
Matt nodded, "I sent you that dream. And yes, that's the Empress. It's important that you know that all those people Death killed…"
"Are cards that he conquered. We will fight and I need as much power as I can get. Allies will help me. Or I can kill them and obtain their powers," I said with him. My grandmother had said something about that a long time ago which I brushed off before going off with my friends to spray paint one of the trains.
Matt nodded. I sighed, "Initiation and now this…do you think anyone else here is one of the major arcana?"
Matt nodded again, "Selena. I suspect she's the huntress…"
"So either I kill her or make her my ally," Matt nodded again, "Stop nodding!"
"Sorry."
"Sorry," I repeated. Jeez. I looked at Matt, "Do you think you know who Death is?"
He shook his head. I smiled and sighed, "Well…thanks, Matt. Can we be allies then?"
"We are…but every time I show you a vision it comes with a price: Death will view it too. I send Death visions."
"What?! That means were enemies not allies," I frowned, wanting Matt on my side.
Matt shook his head, "I can't help it, I'm in debt of him. My mother tried to drown me once…I died but he brought me back to life at the price of this."
I was getting a migraine, "Okay…sorry…can we just talk about this later? We need our sleep for tomorrow."
Mattew nodded and followed me as we walked to the dorms. I looked at him curiously, "Why did you mom tried to drown you?"
"I knew who I was at a young age. She thought I was crazy and didn't have money to get me treated so…"
"I'm sorry," I said softly and took his hand. I squeezed it softly, "It's okay. I guess we're friends now so, it's all good," I smiled and leaned on him, "You know, I've never had a brother. Can you be like my brother?" I talked too much when I panicked, "You don't have to, because I like taking care other people instead, not the other way around. But can you stop me when I go crazy…I mean, the Red Witch enjoys killing people so snap me out of it when I try to poison Selena or something. Maybe I should talk to her and-."
"Go to bed, Ice," Matt said quietly.
And I did. I shut up and we both entered the dorms. Finn was still awake murmuring something not understandable. Matt laid down at the bottom of the bunk and I naturally took the top.
In the middle of the night I woke up to use the bathroom and saw Matt bundled up only taking a bit of space. I went to his bottom bunk and nudged him, only getting a whimper. With a smile, I laid down next to him.
