Eren's transformation left Reiner's hand nothing but steaming flesh and muscle desperately trying to heal itself. As the Titans slid down the wall, Eren let out a yell, louder than ever before, punching the Armored Titan in the jaw; but it does little to no damage. Samantha and Mikasa are hanging on the wall, as they hear a loud, deep yell from above them.
"Eren!" yells Mikasa. Samantha couldn't speak, let alone move – the pain in her abdomen was getting worse day by day, and fighting Titans wasn't helping. That wasn't the only thing; she was seeing everything as if it were a movie. And in slow motion. The Colossal Titan slowly swings its arms against the wall, making people fly on either side of the Wall to their death. Samantha appears to have a more menacing and cold mask on her face, as if she weren't the same person anymore. It was truly a war now. If only I had cut off their heads when I had the chance… It was our biggest chance, too… And I, of all people, could have done it… Why haven't I? There won't be a chance like that again… Never again…
"Men! Get away from the Wall!" She heard Hanji from above. Samantha hears the crumble of the Wall as the Colossal made another swing; turning Samantha's stomach in knots as she looks up desperately to the sky, seeing bodies flying above her. Is this it? It can't be… My death can't be one that could've been preventable… But I can't move… This pain is so unreal. Despite her troubling thoughts and trembling body, Samantha pushes her body from against the wall with her shaky hands, but only to not be able to support her weight; laying back against the wall. Tears start to stream down her cheeks as the pain worsens. This isn't good… Something is wrong…
Samantha let go off her weight, lying against the wall like a corpse, as that was all her body could stand.
"Oi!" She hears from above her, she looks up to see Rivaille swinging to her. "Samantha… Are you hurt? I don't see any blood… Is it anything internally?" Samantha rolled her head towards Rivaille, speaking softly, she says, "My stomach… I have been feeling sharp pains in my abdomen for a month now, and I've been puking as well…" Rivaille places her hand on Samantha's abdomen, pressing his four fingers in the area of pain; making Samantha gasp and unable to breathe until Rivaille took them off.
"It feels… hard…" Rivaille thought for a moment. "We need to take you to the inner walls; don't argue that we are needed here. I was told to go there anyways to switch out duties on watching the old priest anyw-" Looking to the right, Rivaille sees the Colossal crushing Eren and the Armored Titan, filling the air with a thick steam. Sometime later, the steam cleared, Rivaille making the move to check and see those who were on the wall. They were all on the ground and red from the extreme heat, some even receiving burns on their bodies, including Squad Leaders and their teams, Eren wasn't in sight. Dammit, I don't want to just leave… But Samantha needs urgent care… He turned his head over his shoulder, scanning the landscape, Reiner and Bertholdt weren't in sight either.
After a moment, Rivaille goes back to Samantha, supporting her body by placing his forearm across her back. "Want me to carry you?" Rivaille asks, Samantha stares back at Rivaille for what seems like forever.
"I think I got it until we get to the horses…" Rivaille lifts Samantha from her back, turning her body around, placing her feet against the Wall. Rivaille placing his body in the same stance as Samantha turns his head and catches Samantha staring at him. Like at the beginning of their relationship, she flashes him a smile.
"Is it true that there's no Titan invasion?" Samantha and Rivaille reach the Shina district, over hearing Jean questioning aloud to his fellow Scouts.
"Look like it," one replies. "I, too, was thinking that things are weirdly quiet for a Titan invasion."
"I wonder if the guys are alive…" Jean speaks to himself, catching Samantha's ear as she limps by whilst being attached to Rivaille's hip. Her eyes widen as she herself didn't know the answer.
"Hey, hey…" An older man wearing the symbol of the Military Police across his back began talking to his comrades. "We've come all the way here 'cause it was supposed to be a full-blown emergency and look what we found! It's damn slow and peaceful here!" His comrades nodded with approval, some shouting and raising their fists in the air; only if they knew what I had just witnessed. This same man turned to Rivaille shouting and howling in laughter from his previous conversation. Perhaps he was a bit drunk.
"Hey, Rivaille. Where's our prey?" Rivaille was met with the escorted priest but didn't fail to give the man speaking to him eye contact.
"Oh? You guys look like you regret it's peaceful here, huh?" Rivaille began as he sat Samantha next to the priest, providing her with a gun as she clutched her stomach. "Sorry for not providing you with a hot Titan date – well, you may be outta luck this time around, but you know, there are always plenty of opportunities to go outside the Walls on a Scouting expedition." All of the buzzed men came to a hushed silence.
"So, how about we all join forces and go fight Titans? You know, you and us, side by side?"
"The Vanguard Squad is back! Somebody, in form Commander Pixis!" A younger gentleman appears running through the crowd as soon as Rivaille sits back next to the priest, Samantha returning his gun back to him as he whispers in her ear; "We'll get you to a doctor soon." Everyone's attention was on him.
"W-we found no abnormalities or breaches in the wall." The younger man was in a panic, on his knees, and panicking all over the ground in front of Pixis.
"I see. I thought so." Commander Pixis began turning around, believing that was all to the report. Samantha turned to Rivaille with fear and pain in her eyes.
"I need to speak up. Now." Samantha said in a hushed tone, her voice crocking as if she had something in her throat.
"The situation is much graver than that." Rivaille spoke in a strong and foundational voice, giving Samantha the opportunity to speak. Rivaille then sat down as Samantha steadily stood up, hugging her abdomen.
"When they were on their way back to Trost to deliver this report, he must've saw what happened to the Scouting Legion forces led by Hanji." Samantha looked down at the younger man, who was staring back at her nodding.
"We had several new recruits from the former 104th Trainee Squad," Samantha continued. "Not equipped with the 3D Maneuver gear… And among those recruits…" The pain in Samantha's abdomen intensifies as she memorizes the scene, and what could be left of the Scouts due to her leaving.
"There were three… Who were… were Titans."
"What the hell are you saying?!" Jean shoved his way through the crowd, running towards the cart in which Samantha was standing. "What-what…? Three more? Three you say?! Who?!"
"Wait, Jean." Commander Irvin placed his arm against Jean's chest, stopping him from getting reckless. "Samantha… What happened after their identities were exposed?"
"The Scouting Legion engaged the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan… When they reached us…" Samantha choked on her tears. "It was too late."
