Disclaimer: I'm not even gonna say it...
Oh! You got me! I do not own FT T^T
{"Was it hard?" I ask."Letting go?"
"Not as hard as holding on to something that wasn't real."}
It was all over. Lucy and Gray refused to meet each other after their break up. No... Lucy seemed to not want to meet Gray. Every time they passed each other, she'd turn and walk away. She'd avoid conversations. Lucy didn't want to do it if it had something to do with Gray.
Gray, on the other hand, was troubled. Their breakup was confusing. It was all just a stupid misunderstanding, but people tend to do unreasonable things when they're taken over by a strong emotion. Whether it's positive or negative.
Gray sighed, his eyes locked with the blue ocean just a few meters away. Team Natsu never went on any mission together ever since their breakup. It was as if their breakup influenced the whole guild. Why did they even breakup anyway?
Gray's mind trailed off to when Lucy confessed to him.
[I... I know it's stupid but-!"
[What...]
Then they started going out. He loved her more than anyone else in the world, and he was sure she felt the same. Their relationship was welcomed with joy. Everyone called them perfect for each other, had great chemistry and other million things. They really were The "Golden" Couple
But there was more to it than that.
Lucy was... She was the ideal girl. She was downright beautiful, had a kind personality, and she could fight, too. Lucy would do anything to protect her friends, and she knew the value of life. She chose Fairy Tail, not her dad. She knew the value of things, not the cost. She was perfect. Too perfect.
Deep down, it was all unusual for him. She-a girl that perfect-with him-an ordinary guy. That doesn't really match now does it? Yet, people adored them. Looks good together? What the heck! It's like mixing ice cream with carrots.
Maybe that was the first thing that drove him to lie that day.
But now that he thought about it...
"Ahnn... This feels nice!" Lucy declared, one of her hand streching to a side and the other to the other side. She dipped her feet to the sand and smiled, satisfied. She was wearing a bikini, revealing her fair, milky skin. "It's been a while since the last time I went here."
"Huh, oh... Yeah, right." Gray said, his eyes looking at the distance. Unknown to him, a certain playful blondie pushed him from the deck to the ocean. Gray sank.
Lucy worriedly scanned the ocean, until Gray's face popped out of the water. He laughed at her and said, "HA! You think that was funny, huh!"
It was starting to feel like it wasn't worth it. He was starting to regret breaking up with her. He still wanted to spend much, much more time with her-heck, he wanted to spend an eternity with her. That was how much he loved her.
"... Hi." An angelic voice woke Gray up from his daydream. He turned and saw her, in all her glory. A few strands of gold flowed softly in the wind. Her chocolate brown eyes-filled with determination-was sparkling, reflecting the setting sun. She looked amazing.
"You're... Here." Gray mumbled. Lucy's gaze softened as she looked down a bit. Lucy then shooked her head, repeating in her head 'You can do this!' and looked at Gray again. "How have you been?" He croaked, his voice barely reaching her ears.
"Fine." Lucy replied shortly. It's been a long time since they talked to each other. She was so glad she finally found courage to talk to him again. Lucy didn't want to ruin it with her sudden mood-swings or talking too much and creep him out. "You?"
"I'm okay." Gray replied, his hands scratching the crook of his neck awkwardly.
"Listen, I-" Lucy blurted out. She didn't understand how she would say it, or how would she gather enough courage to say it. "I-" The words were at the tip of her tounge, all she neded to do was voice them out. "I still... Love... You..." She squaked softly, just loud enough for him to hear her.
Gray's eyes widened in surprise. Lucy looked down a bit. "When you said that you were lying, my mind was spinning. How could you just say that you were going out with Juvia and then said you lied? I didn't understand. I didn't want you to go and break my heart again but now here I am-"
Gray ended her sentence with a kiss. It was a tender one, not too sweet and not too rough. Lucy's eyes widened a little in surprise but soon she was enjoying it too. It felt right. Like he really was a part of her being. Like they really meant to be together.
Drip.
Drip.
Drops of rain fell to the ground loudly. But this time, instead of sadness, happiness was the one in Lucy's face.
"No..." came a familiar voice. "NOO!" Both Lucy and Gray turned to find-
-a certain water bluenette covering her mouth, her eyes widening in shock. Who knows what those troubled blue orbs hid, sadness for sure was one of 'em. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she clumsily stepped back.
"Gray-sama..." She whispered, wiping her tears. Juvia pointed a finger at Lucy. "Why are you with," She bit her lip a little. "-her?" She said 'her' Juvia said her name in such hatred it hurt.
Silence filled the air. Juvia regained her coolness. "Gray-sama isn't supposed to be with her! Juvia..." Juvia sobbed. "Juvia did the best she could!"
"Best...? For what?" Lucy asked, realizing how serious it actually was. Juvia shooked her head. "Gray-sama, Juvia's afraid she'll have to be more... Serious." Lucy bit her lip.
"Water sli-"
"Juvia, don't." Gray warned, taking a step forward. Juvia widened her eyes. She shooked her hands and wrapped her arms around herself. "B-but... This isn't supposed to happen." Juvia mumbled. "A-after all Juvia's done.."
"What did you do?" Gray asked this time, his eyes sharply aimed at the water mage. Juvia's eyes slowly made it's way to Gray's. "I-I..."
"Now, now, that's enough." A man with a black cape walked towards the three. He just threw his arm to the side, and suddenly Juvia fainted. Gray protectively held Lucy's hand. "Who are you?"
"Me? Oh, that's not important." Even though they couldn't see the man's voice, Lucy could sense him smirking. "This young lady went to my shop a few days ago. She asked for a mind-controlling device."
Of course!, Lucy thought. That must've been why she acted so silly and rejected Gray. It also must've been why Gray even went out with Juvia. Lucy looked at Gray and found the teen nodding at her.
"But look at you now. Even though you accidentally drank the potion, here you are together." The caped man walked towards Juvia. He slipped his hands trough her coat and grabbed a tiny bottle with purple liquid. "I suppose that's what you call true love."
The caped man then turned to the other side, his back facing Lucy and Gray. Without any words, he disappeared to thin air. Lucy and Gray looked at each other, then at Juvia. "So are we gonna bring her?" Lucy asked.
"Nah." Gray turned to the other side and started to walk. "Let's go to your apartment, Lucy. I miss your fridge."
"You're starting to sound like Natsu!"
"Yeah, yeah."
As they continued to babble, Gray's mind drifted to the caped man. Then he turned to Lucy. No matter what, he wasn't gonna let her go away again. Never. Even if she's too good for him, then she'd have to bear with him. Gray looked at the night sky.
True love, huh.
