Ashley's breath hitched when she felt a sharp pain on her shoulder blades. Legolas's eyes were wide as saucers.

"Ow ow ow ow ow! What the HELL!" She ranted as she leaped up, her arms waving back and forth, trying to reach her new wings. Legolas touched one, making sure it was real. His long, white fingers ran up and down the snow white feathers that admitted a heavenly light. THAT made her fly ten feet in the air before she came crashing down.

"Do not do that." She breathed huskily, holding back a shiver.

"I apologize, Lady Ashely. But... What are those? Wings?"

She nodded.

"Aye, they are." Aragorn replied, carefully inspecting her left wing. The feathered wings reached down to her rear, and he marveled at their transparent appearance.

"A siren... " Legolas muttered under his breath, best as he could. Gimli's head turned quickly and the hobbits gave each other questioning looks. Sirens once ruled Middle Earth, and everyone knew that. But about 2,000 years ago, they were thought to be a dead race, killed by a mysterious sickness. And here was one, alive and well, standing before them.

And to top it all off, it was Ashley.

"Hey, dudes? I know I'm pretty hot but there is no need to stare!" Ashley huffed, folding her arms over her chest.

Aragorn silently contemplated the situation. A siren, a female none the less, was still alive. Lord Elrond might be able to help her see the reason she was taken from her homeland, Middle Earth, and brought to a strange place like this Louisiana she went on and on about. And not to mention she is really immature.
"HEY GUYS! I FOUND A PINE CONE!"

'My point has been made.' Aragorn sighed. 'She cannot stay here alone for long.'

"Lady Ashley, would you like some dinner?" Merry asked, holding put a small plate of food with yummy looking berries on it.

She nodded and sat down with a smile on her face.

"Thank you Merry!" She gladly took the plate and then just stared at the unusual bright red berries. Ashley looked up.

"Back home some red berries are poisonous."

The man, elf and hobbits were a little surprised, then Legolas reassured her that those berries were safe.

"These are not in any way harmful, and they happen to be my favorites."

Ashley, still looking at her plate, popped one in her mouth. Her face lit up brighter (A/N: if that's even possible!) And she quickly cleaned her plate. She looked eagerly at Merry.

"Is there any more?"

ooooooOoooooooo

Ashley flew up from her comfy spot on the ground, with a sudden need to bathe. She looked around, sticking her nose in the air, as if she could smell water. She blinked in suprise as Legolas stuck his face in front of hers.

"Are you alright?" He whispered.

"Yes. I just feel really dirty and I can't sleep." She sighed.

Legolas smiled and held out his hand.

"I want to show you something."

Ashley took his hand, and they slowly tiptoed away from the others.

Gandalf watched them with one eye open. He smiled softly at the cute gesture.

If Legolas knew Gandalf was awake, he ignored it.

"Here we are!" Legolas grinned as he helped Ashley up into the tree he had lead her to. It had branches that spread out for at least twelve feet, looping around, making it a good climbing spot.

"What's up here?" Ashley asked, her interest peaked.

Legolas just smiled. "You'll see." He looked up at the dark sky, not a star nor constellation in sight.

Ashley sighed. Oh, how she hated waiting.

"When is-"

"Shh!" Legolas held up a finger to her lips. She blushed. "It's starting."

"What's start-"

"SHHH!" Legolas put his whole hand over her mouth. "Look up." He used his free hand to point.

Ashley's eyes followed the direction of his arm.

Lights started appearing, one by one, like someone slowly lighting hundreds of little candles. As they did, Ashley saw the patterns. She removed the ellon's hand from her and smiled.

"I recognize that one!" She pointed to the biggest, brightest star.

"The North Star?"

"Yeah! My friend always said it would always lead me back home, wherever I was. I hope she...I hope she was right." Ashley stood up, then held her hand out to Legolas.

"Balance!" She sqeaked.

Legolas grinned jumping up and taking her hand in his.

"Are the stars different in your home?" He asked.

"Oh, much, much different! Even the colors. You know, I bet that blue star is another planet." She nodded towards the tiny blue speck of light in the west.

"Planet?" Legolas was confused.

"Oh! Never mind. It's nothing." She said. "I guess you are so primitive, you guys haven't even got the printing press yet."

"Printing press?" Legolas was even more confused.

Then, "Primitive?!" He exclaimed, offended.

Ashley raised her hands in surrender. "Sorry. It's just, my home is more...advanced. We don't have to write everything, we have machines to do that. And machines to make food. And machines to make music. We barely have trees and forests anymore."

Legolas closed his eyes and thought for a moment. "That...that sounds horrible."

"I know. It is. Just a bunch of rich, power hungry bastards that think they rule the world. Killing everything and destroying things the don't even try to understand." Ashley got a faraway look in her eyes for a moment.

"I am sorry."

"It's okay. I'm sorry. You tried show me something amazing, and here I go and ruin it." Ashley turned and hugged Legolas.

He jumped, surprised at the sudden contact.

"Ashley?"

"Thank you. Thank you." She whispered in his chest.

"You are welcome." He wrapped his arms around her neck slowly, and smiled.
