So we've made it. Chapter 10. Thought for shits and giggles, I'd post on Saint Patrick's Day. But I was drunk and my son tore me away from the computer. So a belated Happy Saint Paddy's Day! This will probably be the last chapter for The Love Of The Irish. Look for the sequel Room in my Heart. Don't own anything from the boondock saints.
- Brina's POV-
She had done all the required things the doctors ordered her to do in agreement to leave the hospital. Connor and she were due to check out on the same day. She was happy to see Murphy coming into her room with a clean change of clothes tucked under his arm. "Brina. I'm not a fashion expert, but hopefully you can deal with this until you get home." She smiled and took the clothes from him before going into the bathroom to dress. She came back out and felt like herself once again. Murphy walked over to her and gently pushed her hair behind her ear before kissing her. "You ready to go home?" She nodded to him. They walked to the counter and signed the papers, receiving after care instructions, before they headed up to get Connor. In the elevator, Murphy slipped his fingers inbetween hers. "Listen, you can go wait in the car if you want. I know it's gotta be weird, seein Connor and all." She gently squeezed his hand. "I'll be fine. I actually already talked to Connor in person. We're okay." The elevator pinged, and they walked off and down the hallway to go find his brother. They waited while he dressed, then headed to the desk at the end of the hall again. The car was a welcome sight.
A vehicle which would carry her away from the machines, the doctors, and everyone worrying over her every five minutes. Connor sat in the back, allowing Murphy and Brina to have the front seats. She laid her head back and turned it to look out the window as they drove through the city. Before she knew it, they were outside the pub. She got out and walked around the car to the front door. She walked in and took a deep breath. Everything was as it should be. She smiled as Doc came into view. "Brina! Connor! Get over here, the both of you." She and Connor approached the old man and gave him a hug. "This calls for a celebration. Sit, sit down." He hurried behind the bar as the three of them took a stool. He grabbed beers for everyone and uncapped them, passing them out. He held one in his hand and raised it up. "Here's to Brina and Connor making their recoveries. To the life we are allowed to live every day, to love, to friendship, f-f-family and f-f-f..FUCK. ASS. Aw, Hell. Better times ahead."
They all held their beers up in the air and toasted to the old man, taking a long drink from the brown bottles. Doc excused himself to do some inventory in the back room, and the three trudged up to the apartment above. Brina sat down and laid her head back, closing her eyes, when she heard Connor. "Murphy, I gotta talk to you about something." They sat down on the couch and finished off their beers. "There's something that's been bothering me. I got a call earlier. Smecker's dead. After Yakavetta, you know they've gotta be lining someone up to take the throne. And I'd guarantee it that Smecker's death was a set up." Murphy swung a leg to rest on top of his knee. "Yeah. But who?" Connor leaned in close to his brother. "Concezio. Papa Joe's son. I'd bet on it." Murphy silently nodded in agreement. "Listen, Connor. You're my brother. I've got your back 100%, but at some point, we have to quit all of this. Settle down, try to live. I'll do this one last job, for Smecker, but no more." He looked at Brina and smiled before looking back to Connor. "I've got a woman to do right by, ya know." Connor chuckled and nodded his head. "I know."
Okay, so that is actually IT for The Love of the Irish. I want to thank everyone that's read and I apologize for the tiny chapter that this is, but I'm going to get to work on Chapter 1 of Room in my Heart.
