A/N: IT'S DONE! IT'S DONE! IT'S DONE! I DID IT! TEN POINTS FOR GRYFFENDOR! Ha, just kidding. I mean RAVENCLAW! Yeah. I'm in Ravenclaw. According to Pottermore. Um. Yeah, it's done. Sorry for the wait. I know it's been WAY more than when I said it would be up. I'm so sorry. Things caught up with me, small case of writers block, and the feeling of a cold got me distracted. Then I was away for a couple of days, and as always, school. Ugh. Math. :p I'm so glad that people have asked for this! You guys really made me want to keep writing it! :D The more reviews I have the more I write! (Hint, hint. Lol)
Enough of my ranting I'm sure most of you have skipped to the story already anyways. Enjoy!
Doctor Who:
The TARDIS slowly emerged in its usual posterior. But something was different this time. A red light had appeared and flashed around the control room. Along with that, a loud honking noise bounced around the three travellers. "What's happening!" shouted Mickey. The Doctor pressed some buttons and ran around to the main level that got the TARDIS going. "We- are having a bit of a setback, but no worries! The TARDIS just needs refuelling!" shouted the Doctor. "Now Mordred, grab this lever, and when I say 'now' pull it down! Got it?" Mordred nodded. "Good, now, Martin-"
"Mickey-"
"Right Michael. I need you to swerve the TARDIS to the left using this control right here, when I say swerve! Got it?"
"Got it!"
"Good! Right! Okay! Let's see- ah ha! I know exactly where to go!"
The Doctor set the specific coordinates he had in mind. "Okay, okay- NOW MORDRED!" he shouted. Mordred pulled on the lever instantly. He pulled it all the way back, and the TARDIS gave a sharp jolt. It knocked Mordred and Mickey off their feet.
"Good! You alright? Good! Swerve Mickey!" said the Doctor. Mickey spun the dial to the left as told. That made the TARDIS jolt left, knocking both him and Mordred down again. "Good, good, good! Alright! Now. I just need to press this, this, this- and- flip this switch. There. Done." said the Doctor. Just as he said and did that, the TARDIS stopped completely. The red light and alarm was still going off though. "Where are we?" asked Mordred.
"That my magical friend, will be answered when we go outside these doors!" said the Doctor. He pressed one more button and the light and noise stopped. Then he dashed towards the doors.
They all went outside and looked around. They seemed to be in another forest. Only, this one was very, very different. For instance, it was dark and eerie. It was also quiet. Very quiet. Almost...too quiet. There was also a spooky fog about, surrounding them. The trees almost looked dead. Mickey and Mordred looked around feeling a bit uneasy. "Doctor, um, just- just where are we?" Mickey asked. Although he wasn't sure he wanted to know.
Mordred frowned. Something wasn't right here. He didn't know what, but it just felt... strangely evil. This thought disturbed him. His mind began to swirl with questions and scenarios that could possibly happen if evil was near. "Um, I sense evil Doctor, where are we?" he asked quietly.
The Doctor smiled and looked around just as they were. "I'll get to that. Don't worry. Hm. I wonder if Aragog made it out safely alive." said the Doctor, in thought. Mickey looked at him. "Who's that?" he asked, again, wondering if he'll regret hearing the answer.
"A spider."
"A spider?"
"A spider." confirmed the Doctor. "Are you deaf?"
"It's name is Aragog?" questioned Mordred.
"Yes. Don't you people listen? I wonder if the alarm did something to your hearing..."
"A-and you say 'made it out safely' because it's small and could get stepped on. R-right?" asked Mickey with a nervous laugh. The word "right" did not sound as "cheery" as the rest. "If you think Mordred's height is small, then yes." was the reply. The other two stared at the Doctor for a moment. Then Mickey glanced at Mordred, who glanced back.
"Well, this place could use some more exploring. Which direction was it...Oh which way, which way..." the Doctor said casually. "Ah! That way! Let's go fellas!" With that, he started walking. Mordred began following him, but Mickey stayed behind for a moment. "A giant spider named Aragog..." he said to no one. "Why am I travelling with him again?" He sighed and started following himself.
After a few minutes of walking, the Doctor pulled out his screwdriver. He began to fiddle with it. "Hm...okay. Here we go..." he said to himself. The Sonic Screwdriver lit up with energy. The Doctor began to point the end in different directions. "What are you doing?" asked Mordred.
"I'm simply just trying to find the right- ah! There. Come on! We don't have all day!" said the Doctor. He walked a little faster while the other two tried to keep up. "Now where are we going?" asked Mickey. The Doctor stopped for a second and turned to look at him. "Well we won't see if we have to stop every now and then to ask and answer questions like that will we?" he said, sounding a bit put off. They kept going until they came to a pathway.
"Wait. There they are!" said the Doctor. They stopped at the edge of the path. The Doctor was looking at the other side of it. "What? Who?" said Mickey, and again, regretted it. For across the other side of the path, was a line of average sized spiders. They seemed to be marching in one direction. Like ants. "Oh..." was all Mickey could say. He absolutely hated spiders. "Right. Now, when in doubt if you're trying to find him, follow the spiders. Which, we shall do." said the Doctor. Mickey stopped him. "Wh- follow the spiders? Follow them, like- like to- him?" he said. The Doctor looked at him. "Yes." he said. Mickey glanced at the line of spiders. "To- to Aragog?" he said.
"Yes. You really should see someone about your hearing Michael." said the Doctor.
"It-it's Mi- Oh forget it! Let's go see the giant spider!" said Mickey. With that, they carried on and followed the spiders.
Merlin:
Arthur lead his two knights and servant through the forest of Camelot. His weapon was ready for anything. Suddenly there was a crack. He stopped two his men instantly. Making sure nothing was around the corner of the stone walls, he quietly made his way towards the sound. The two knights, and Merlin, followed silently. The sound rang through the forest once again, and Arthur stopped. They were so close. The thing was just around the corner. He made a few signals to his men. Then he looked back to where the noise came from. The two knights snuck away to a different area. Arthur looked back at Merlin.
"Merlin." he whispered. Merlin stepped forwards. "What is it?" he asked. The two looked back towards where the animal was. "I don't know. We'll surround it. I want you to go in there and flush it out." said Arthur. Merlin looked at him. Of course. The creature made some more noise form inside the area the creature was in. "You want me to go in there? You just said you don't know what it is. It could be dangerous." he said. Arthur looked at him, and glanced at the cave. "Let's hope so. Now go." he said. Merlin sighed. It was always him. Wasn't it? It was never Arthur himself, or any knight. Nope. Just him. Ah the perks of being Prince Arthur's servant. Merlin sighed again and got ready. Might as well just get it over with.
Merlin silently made his way through the brush of the forest. There was another noise. He looked to where it came from, but couldn't see anything. He sure hoped it wasn't an invisible creature. He froze for a few seconds as he himself made some noises. He noticed a large branch lying next to him. He bent down and picked it up as a weapon. He moved forwards. What he saw amazed him more than anything.
It was a unicorn. Merlin dropped the branch instantly. The unicorn looked at him calmly. It's fur was as white as snow and shone in the sunlight that peaked through the leaves. It snorted as it stared at Merlin. He's never seen a unicorn before in his life! They were magnificent! Unicorns were incredibly rare. Very few people have seen one. It felt amazing to be one of those people. It was such a precious moment, that Merlin actually forgot about the hunt.
Arthur had his weapon ready for anything.
Their cracking noises brought Merlin back to earth. He looked around realizing that the Unicorn was now in danger. "Go. Go! Please, go. Shh. They're gonna kill you. Please, go! Arthur, no!" said Merlin. Arthur had come from the left of Merlin. Then he shot. The unicorn went down. It whinnied in pain and the arrow penetrated it's fur. Merlin ran up to it. He couldn't believe what had just happened! It was a rare thing to see a unicorn. Merlin, with tears forming in his eyes, began to pet the poor creature. "I'm sorry. Sorry." he said quietly. Arthur came up to them. He was utterly joyed.
"Ha-ha! A unicorn!" he said with glee. Merlin looked up at him. "What have you done?" he asked. Arthur gave him a weird look. "Don't be such a girl, Merlin." he said. Then he noticed that Merlin wasn't looking at him, but beyond him.
Merlin stared behind Arthur. There was a man. He was dressed in white, and held a staff. Arthur began to turn around. "What are you looking at?" he asked. But there was no one there. Oh whatever, Merlin was always strange to Arthur.
Doctor Who:
The light around them began to fade away after a few steps. Mickey kept glancing here and there as he heard noises in the bushes and trees surrounding them.
While Mordred knew that they would most likely be safe, he couldn't ignore the ever growing evil around them... and it wasn't the spiders. Sure, they scared people, but they weren't evil. Not all of them anyways. No, no. These creatures simply live their lives as normal spiders do. With different- eating habits, of course.
Suddenly a sharp pain emerged in him and caused him to gasp and halt to a stop. Mickey, not noticing at first upon dealing with his fear of spiders, bumped into him. "Wh- hey what's wrong?" he asked. Mordred looked towards his left and slowly stood up properly. Sort of. The Doctor, upon hearing this, turned around instantly. Then he looked to where Mordred was staring. There, about twenty feet away, sticking out from behind a moss covered rock, was a... "That- that's a- a unicorn...That's a unicorn! Oh my gosh... a unicorn. Who'd have thought that I'd ever see one?" Mickey said in awe. The Doctor sighed, while Mordred looked grim. "Well...it uhm, it was... anyways." said the Doctor. He sighed again. Mickey awkwardly cleared his throat. "Although I've only heard rumours, the death of a unicorn truly is one of the saddest things in any world. It brings sorrow across the lands to those that have heard or seen...or felt. Now I know it's true. They truly are magnificent creatures." He placed a hand on Mordred's back. "Those deeply connected to the nature and magic of the worlds are prone to feel more pain than anyone."
"Who would do such a thing? It's horrible." said Mickey. "They do absolutely no harm to anyone."
"Someone... dark." said Mordred, his voice cracking a bit.
Then they saw it. Among the shadows, a dark cloaked creature lifted it's head. They couldn't see anything but it's sharp, bloody teeth in it's mouth. "It's been drinking unicorn blood. They say that in this land when one drinks it, they become sort of immortal. But there's a price. They can't have a natural body. Who ever that being is, deeply wishes to live." said the Doctor, while slightly glaring at it.
Just then the creature lifted it's head and looked at them. It stared straight at Mordred.
For a few seconds, no one moved. The thing bared it's teeth at them, and it kept looking at Mordred. "It must sense your powers." whispered the Doctor. Then the thing looked at him. The Doctor stared back at it. "Um, okay...what should we do?" whispered Mickey. No one looked away from the creature.
"First off, don't panic. It will only make it more interested." whispered the Doctor. "It's like a bear, just walk away slowly, don't turn your back though, and don't make eye contact."
The three of them began to take small steps backwards, and sideways down the path. "I think that last ship has sailed." Mickey said quietly. The creature, still baring its teeth, floated closer. It made a sort of hissing growling noise. The three stopped walking. The cloaked creature still stared at Mordred. The said warlock was all ready to cast a defence spell if it attacked them.
But, seemingly out of nowhere, something large, with many legs, jumped on the creature. Then another one came and attacked it! There was a hissing fit between both kinds of creatures. A scary realisation hit Mickey as soon as the two new creatures stepped into view. "Can we panic now?" he asked shakily.
"Panic! Panic? Why panic? These two are relatives of the one we're looking for! Oh, and might I say thanks for getting rid of the dementor!" the Doctor said cheerily. Mickey looked at him. "You mean Aragog?" was all he said.
"You know of him?" said one of the spiders. They were about two to four feet in diameter, and about a foot or two tall. That was enough to give Mickey the creeps for days.
"Yes, in fact, we're old pals. Uh, friends. Say, perhaps you've heard of me, I'm the Doctor!"
"Doctor." said the other spider. "Oh yes. Aragog has spoken of when this time would come."
"And it seems that it has! So I was wondering if you could show us where the chap is?" asked the Doctor. The two spiders laughed. "Perhaps. But only you. Doctor. He will not accept anyone else. Not even the boy." the first spider said, and he paused. "Mordred." All three of them tensed up. "Wait. How do you know of him? Well, yes, he's technically a legend, but I mean, how did you know that this boy in particular-" but the Doctor got interrupted.
"We know many things Doctor. Or I should say that Aragog knows many things." said the second spider. Then they laughed again.
"In fact, things might get... Harry." (A/N: ha, get it?)
"And the other one- does not even possess any magic in him! How could he even be here? We know of your time and space travelling ways Doctor, but this should not be possible. Only those of magic powers, and you Doctor should be able to see our lands. How is it that he is here?"
"Um, good question, how is it that you, a spider, are able to talk?" asked Mickey.
"What are your purposes here in this world?" asked the first spider.
"Why do you think the Doctor's blue police box is called the 'Time and Relative Dimension in Space'?"
"Where are you from considering that you are not magic?"
"Where do you think, hey, so, where's this Aragog so we can get this over with?"
"Why do you all need to see him?"
"Wait, how is it possible for me to see this if only magical beings can?"
"What's your favourite colour?"
There was a brief pause, then Mickey and Mordred gave the Doctor a strange look. "What? Just seeing how long we could go for with answering questions with questions. Well, that was fun!" he said. The other two then looked at each other oddly. Mickey shrugged.
"Well we're not making any progress here, we'll just visit him another time, and enjoy the view of other sceneries. Goodbye!" said the Doctor. He started heading back towards the TARDIS, when the first spider stepped up. "Wait a minute- Doctor. Aragog has been expecting you." The Doctor stopped and turned around. "Well finally, why didn't you say so before?"
"But only you. These two will have to wait here."
"We will guard them to make sure they don't go anywhere."
There was a brief moment of silence. "Alright." said the Doctor.
"What?" said Mickey. "Us. Stay here with them?"
"Yeah. Have a good time. Now, Aragog is this way, right? Okay, I'll be back soon!" said the Doctor. Before Mickey could say something, off he went.
Merlin:
The hunting crew made their way back to the castle. Arthur walked proudly as Merlin carried the horn on a pillow. They entered the throne room. "Father! A unicorn's horn to grace the walls of Camelot." he said confidently. His father got up from the throne. He marvelled at the sight. "Magnificent. It's the first one I've seen." he said in awe. He gently picked it up and examined it. "Gaius, look at this." said Uther. Gaius soon had a stern looked on his face. "It is very impressive, My Lord." he stated. Uther wasn't fooled though. He saw the expression Gaius carried. "What is it, Gaius? Speak your mind." he said.
"Unicorns are rare and mystical creatures. There is a legend that says that bad fortune will come to anyone who slays one." explained Gaius. Merlin looked at him. Bad fortune? Like a curse perhaps? Well. That was just fantastic. More trouble for Camelot. Hooray. Too bad Uther wasn't so easily persuaded. "Nonsense. We will be the envy of every kingdom." he said. Yep. Not easily persuaded. Uther placed a hand on Arthur's shoulder. His son smiled brightly at him. "I'm pleased you like it." said Arthur. Soon, everyone left the throne room.
"I don't understand how Arthur can have taken any pleasure from killing the unicorn." said Merlin. He and Gaius were walking through the square. The two met up with Rose along the way. "Arthur is a hunter. It's in his blood. Whereas you are something entirely different." said Gaius. Merlin sighed. He knew he was right, but it still hurt. "It was the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. I wish you'd been there." he said.
"Wow. That's amazing! Ever since I met the Doctor I've always wondered about them." Rose said dreamily. Then her expression changed. "But, but Arthur just..." she couldn't finished the sentence. Merlin just nodded in silence.
"It's a rare privilege. Alas, there are few unicorns still alive." said Gaius.
"You try telling that to Arthur." said Merlin.
"I can imagine it would be difficult."
The three smirked at how thick Arthur could be sometimes. Rose stopped walking for a second. "Wait, you mentioned a curse. Just- just how bad of a curse are we talking about?" she asked. Of course, she didn't really want to know the answer. "Um, I'm guessing really bad. It's a curse on the entire grounds of Camelot." said Merlin.
The next day, Arthur sat at the table and began to eat the breakfast that was set out. "My horse threw a shoe. Take it to the blacksmith. Make sure he does a good job. And when you've done that, you can polish my s..." he said. But when he turned to look at Merlin, his servant was staring out the window. That gloomy expression was still on his face. Arthur sighed. "...saddle. Merlin? Have you listened to a word I've said?" he asked. Merlin looked at him when his name was called. Arthur's answer to his question, was a nod. "You've got a face like a wounded bear ever since we got back from that hunting trip. Don't tell me you're still upset about the unicorn." said Arthur.
"I don't think you should have killed it."
"Oh, really? And why is that?"
"It was... It was doing no harm. What purpose did you serve by killing it?"
Arthur rolled his eyes. "We were hunting. That's what you do. Would you have me bring it home as a pet? Look at this." he said. He noticed something very unpleasant on the floor. "What?" said Merlin. He walked over to him. "Do you know what that is?" asked Arthur. He pointed to a bunch of brown pebble like objects on the floor. "No." said Merlin. Arthur grabbed him by his collar and made him look closer. "Rat droppings. My chambers are infested. You need to spend less time worrying about unicorns and more time worrying about rats." said Arthur. Great. Yet, another problem for Merlin to solve. Luckily it's not a huge one like putting a curse on the town. Oh. Right. That still has yet to come.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. "Enter!" said Arthur. A few guards walked in the room. "My Lord, the King requests your service as a matter of urgency." said one of them. Arthur nodded. He turned to Merlin. "Find that rat." he said sternly. Merlin sighed as the prince left.
Doctor Who:
The Doctor followed the smaller spiders step by step. Soon, he came to a large burrow underneath an even larger tree. The small spiders all gathered at it and entered in. So did the Doctor. He followed the underground tunnel. "Aragog? Are you in here?" he asked. There was a low rustle from further back. Then came a low growl or sigh afterwards. "Doctor? It's been a long time." said Aragog. Soon enough, the Doctor came to the area the spider was in. "Yes it has been a while, hasn't it? I'm glad you made it out alright though." said the Doctor.
"Yes. I am glad too. I assume you're not alone. You usually have some kind of companion with you." said Aragog.
"Yes actually, they're just outside a ways back."
"Do you think it was wise leaving them there alone?"
"Oh yes! I'm sure they're fine! One of them's tougher than he looks!"
Meanwhile, Mickey and Mordred, and the two spiders seemed to be having a stare down. They were all just standing there in an awkward silence. Then Mickey cleared his throat. "So...you're a spider." he said awkwardly. "Tell me about that." He was met by silence.
"Yeah, they're fine." said the Doctor. He looked around the cave. "Nice place you've got here. Dark, underground, eerie. It's perfect!" said the Doctor. Aragog moved around a bit. "Yes, it is. Doctor. There is something...you need to know." he said. The Doctor's expression turned serious. "What is it?" he asked.
"Listen to me carefully Doctor. Something is throwing the natural balance of this forest. It is very dangerous. However, I am not sure what it is yet. There is someone you must look for to find the answer. Look for the thestrals. The one you need to find will be the key. But Doctor, I must warn you. If this does not cease, the forest will not be the only area in danger. " said Aragog.
Meanwhile, back with the other two- "Okay, but do you eat humans. Witch, wizard or not? That's what I'm asking." said Mickey. All four of them were still standing in the same positions. "From time to time, we may eat meals larger than the usual, but it depends on what we feel like having." said the first spider. Mickey sighed. "Just yes, or no." he said, his expression and tone totally dead panned. The two spiders just laughed. Mickey rolled his eyes. "They're just playing you." said Mordred. Mickey gave him a look. "Oh, right. So they just eat smaller things then." he said. He wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic or not. "No, they eat humans. Just not all the time. That's what they've been saying." said Mordred, slightly mocking Mickey. Mickey narrowed his eyes. "Who's side are you on?" he said suspiciously.
"Well it sounds like you four got along, so we'll be going now." said the Doctor, as he suddenly reappeared. Mickey sighed. "Thank gosh you're alive!" he said. The Doctor gave him a strange look. "Don't ask." said Mickey. The Doctor nodded. "Did- did you know that these spiders eat humans...sometimes?" said Mickey. The Doctor chuckled. "Yes I did. It's obvious I've been here before, seriously, what is with your hearing today?" he said. "Anyways, we've got a new mission. Come with me fellas, oh and good luck with that dementor behind you, you two!" The two spiders instantly turned around. Sure enough, there was another dementor. "Hm. Something's not quite right though. Those dementors are suppose to be guarding the prison. Azkeban. That's a long ways away from here. Well, we should get going anyhow. Let's move out!"
Soon they came to the edge of the forest, which was a relief. Just ahead of them, stood an amazing looking castle. "Wow..." said Mickey. "Why are we here?"
"We, are here to find someone." said the Doctor.
"Who?" asked Mordred.
"I didn't get the name."
"So, you don't know who we're looking for?" asked Mickey.
"No, but I know to look for the thestrals." There was a pause. The Doctor looked at them. "Thestrals are winged dark, oh, horses let's say. Although they're not technically horses. Ah, well, you'll see. Maybe." said the Doctor.
"What do you mean maybe?" asked Mickey.
"They can only be seen by people who have seen death." explained the Doctor. "However, I just realised that you're here anyways and can see the magical world, so, you should have no trouble spotting these magnificent creatures."
Just then, the three of them heard a screech from off in the distance. "Ah. There we go. Alright, come on we don't have all the time in the world." said the Doctor. He started walking, and the other two followed. "This coming from the Time Lord." whispered Mickey.
"I heard that."
Mordred suddenly stopped again. The same pain he'd felt for the unicorn had returned. He looked to his right, and saw a terrible sight. The other two noticed as well. "Two. Two unicorns. Gone." Mickey said quietly. There wasn't any other creature in sight. The Doctor walked up to the unicorns. "It's a fresh killing. No less than ten minutes ago. Something is not right. This doesn't just happen on a regular basis. Unicorns are sacred animals. No one, unless they were truly evil, would do this. Not even dementors. Which means that the thing we saw before...wasn't a dementor. It was something worse. And it's attacking every unicorn it sees." he said. That wasn't good.
Merlin:
Uther and Arthur stood in one of the crop fields. Uther crumbled one of the stalks in his hand. "Every single ear has died. We've received reports that it's the same throughout the entire kingdom." he explained. Arthur looked around at it. It was unbelievable. "I rode through this valley only yesterday. The crop looked healthy enough then." he said. They couldn't have just died over night. It was impossible! "It happened overnight. Farmers are at a lost to explain it." said Uther. Okay. Maybe not impossible, but highly, highly, unlikely. "Is it a disease of some kind?" asked Arthur.
"Perhaps. I've asked the court physician to conduct some tests. We must ration what little food we have left." said Uther.
"Any ideas what caused the crops to die?" asked Merlin. He, Gaius, and Rose were in their chambers studying the wheat. "I'm here to complete all the tests. No disease I have heard of could spread through the entire kingdom in a single night." said Gaius.
"What could kill all the plants other than a disease?" asked Rose.
"It is not killing all the plants. The trees and hedges around the crop fields are unharmed. Unfortunately, you can't eat trees and hedges." said Gaius. Merlin looked at him. "It's only killing plants we can eat?" he said. It made sense. But then, it couldn't be a disease if it were just killing edible plants. It would have had to have been something else. "It appears so." said Gaius.
"If it's not a disease, it must be magic." said Merlin.
"We can't assume that, Merlin. Perhaps there is something in the soil and water that can explain it. I can't tell the King it's caused by sorcery until I'm completely certain." said Gaius.
Many villagers gathered into Castle grounds. A guard handed out some rations to them. "Next!" he called.
"The livestock is either dying or has been eaten. Food and water's very scarce and we're distributing rations, but they're very meagre." said Arthur. Arthur pulled out a leaver and the remains of the grain trickled down to the floor. Uther stared at it. "This is all the grain we have?" he asked.
"The people are growing scared. There's been some looting." said Arthur.
"We must maintain order at all costs. Panic will make the situation worse. I'll issue a decree that looters will be executed. From tonight, Camelot will be under curfew." said Uther. He left the area and Arthur followed. "I'll see to it." he said.
Merlin and Rose walked through the grounds, and passed Gwen on the way. She walked up to the well. "Merlin, Rose. Is it true what they're saying about the crops? They're all dead?" she asked. Merlin turned to her. "Afraid so. We may have to start tightening our belts." he said. They continued to walk in the same direction. "I'm sure that it'll be back to normal soon!" said Rose.
"Yes, I'm sure Arthur will think of something." replied Gwen. Merlin looked at her. "Well, and if he doesn't, I will." he said, and carried on. Gwen got back to what she was doing. She began to pump out the water from the well. But strangely- no water came out. Just dry sand. "Merlin!" she called. "Rose!" The two came back. "Sand." said Rose. She and Merlin looked at each other. This wasn't good. Merlin took the bucket and they brought it to Uther and Arthur.
"Sand. And you say the well is full of it?" said Uther.
"I sent men down to the underground reservoir. There is no trace of water to be found." said Arthur. They stared at the sand in the bucket. "First the crops, and now this." said Uther. What could have caused this? "It's the same throughout the kingdom. There's precious little water anywhere." said Arthur. That was not good. Not good at all. The kingdom was in trouble, and they had to think of something fast. "Gaius. Can you offer any explanation for this?" asked Uther.
"I cannot think of a scientific explanation. I can only conclude it's the result of sorcery." he said. That's right. Magic. "I believe you're right. It is the work of magic. The kingdom is under attack." said Uther. It all made sense. They couldn't find any disease in anything, and nothing was bothering the plants outside of the crops. It just made sense.
Back in Gaius' chambers, Merlin finally found a spell that could help with the water problem. He placed his right hand over the bucket full of sand. "Gréot gecymen, lecan. Gecymen gé drýe wæter." Although, nothing happened. He tried a different spell. He didn't hear Gaius walk in the door. Just as he said the second spell, he noticed him. "I was... I was just, er..." he stammered. He was never good at lying. "I was hoping you might be trying to turn it back into water. I know I've cautioned against using magic, but if ever there was a time to use your talents, it's now." said Gaius. That surprised Merlin. Usually he would have had to keep it super hidden from anyone. "Well, I wish I knew how. I've tried everything. If it is magic, it's more powerful magic than I possess." he sighed.
Later that night, Arthur began to address the knights of the circumstances. "Patrol the market and the lower town. No one is to leave their homes. Dismissed." said Arthur. He began to go back to his chambers, when he came across...Merlin? "Merlin. You do realise there's a curfew?" he said. He couldn't possibly have any reason to be outside during curfew. But, then again, this was Merlin he was talking to. "Yeah, I was in your chambers, hunting for the rat." he said. Of course. "Did you find it?" asked Arthur.
"No." said Merlin.
"So you have been outwitted by a rat?"
"They do say rats are very intelligent."
Arthur sighed and rolled his eyes. Merlin certainly was a mystery. "More intelligent than you, it would seem. Go home. It'd be embarrassing to have to lock up my own servant for breaking the curfew." said Arthur. He was about to return to his chambers, when something caught his eye. A man with a staff, dressed in white. Like he was a ghost. But that was ridiculous. "What was that?" he found himself asking. Merlin followed his gaze. "What?" he asked. Merlin and Arthur ran after him, Arthur jumped over the Courtyard Corridor ledge. They chased the man down the Upper Corridor, down some stairs, and down the Wrought Iron Stairway to the Burial Vaults where they lost him. Arthur made some hand gestures to Merlin. Merlin nodded, then followed Arthur. Arthur began to go off in one direction. But then he noticed Merlin was following him. He walked back to him. "That means you go the other way and cut him off." he said, very annoyed.
"Okay." said Merlin.
Merlin and Arthur went in opposite directions and ended up back at the Wrought Iron Stairway without seeing anyone. Then they saw the man's silhouette as he briefly rounded the corner. Arthur had Merlin go the other way again. They ended up back at the Wrought Iron Stairway... again. What was up with that?
"Where is he?" said Arthur. His voice was louder with frustration. It was like they were chasing a ghost for crying out loud! "I didn't seen anyone." said Merlin. He too was getting frustrated. They knew they both saw what they saw. A man dress in white with a staff. How hard could he be to find? You know, unless he really was a ghost and was becoming invisible at the last second! "He was right here! Don't tell me you let him get past you." said Arthur.
"Arthur, no one passed me." said Merlin. Honestly, was there any point in to talking some sense into him? "Are you blind?!" said Arthur. The two were about to go into another argument, when a voice interrupted them. "Are you looking for me? I am Anhora, Keeper of the Unicorns." said the same man they've been chasing. Anhora. So that was his name. "Camelot is under curfew. What's your business here?" said Arthur. Merlin inwardly sighed. Didn't this man ever listen to anyone? Anhora said he was the Keeper of the Unicorns! "I have come to deliver a message." said Anhora.
"And who is this message for?" asked Arthur.
"It is for you, Arthur Pendragon."
"Is it you who's responsible for killing our crops, turning our water into sand?" asked Arthur.
"You alone are responsible for the misfortune that has befallen Camelot."
"Me?! You think I'd bring drought and famine upon my own people?"
"When you killed the unicorn, you unleashed a curse. For this, Camelot will suffer greatly."
"If you have put a curse on Camelot, you will lift it, or you will pay with your life."
"The curse was not my doing."
"Undo the curse or face execution."
"Only you can do that. You will be tested."
"You're under arrest." said Arthur. Arthur reached for Anhora, but he disappeared and Arthur stumbled. Anhora then reappeared on the Wrought Iron Stairway. "Until you have proven yourself, and made amends for killing the unicorn, the curse will not be lifted. If you fail any of these tests, Camelot will be damned for all eternity." he said. With that, he vanished. "And that's two more things to add to my list of threats to Camelot. Arthur's intelligent's and ego." Merlin thought, with much sarcasm. As Arthur was leaving, he snickered quietly at the thought.
Doctor Who:
After a few minutes, they had found the herd of thestrals. They really were magnificent. They were dark, with large wings that spread far out, long skinny legs, and a long skinny tail. Thestrals didn't have manes like a horse does, but other than that, they were fairly similar.
"Ah hello friend. Have you seen anyone befriend you all lately? Human perhaps? A witch or wizard from the school?" the Doctor said to one of the thestrals that had walked up to him. It made a friendly screeching sound. It sounded much like a bird. The Doctor petted it for while. A small young one made it's way over to Mordred. It stumbled a bit. Just as he was about to bend down and pet it, something caught his eye.
In the distance, he saw a human girl. She was petting the thestrals just as they were. She looked no older than he was. She had long curly white blonde hair and a calm expression. She wore a light blue dress, a large bag hung from her shoulder. But the odd thing about her was that she wasn't wearing any shoes. It was obviously the end of fall, and here she was walking barefoot. Before he knew it, he was walking over to her.
"Your feet, aren't they cold?" he asked her. She turned to him. She looked so peaceful, yet there was a hint of sadness in her blue eyes. She smiled and glanced down at her feet. "A bit. I suspect that the nargles took my shoes again. They're always hiding my things." she said. She turned back to the thestral she had been paying attention to. Then she glanced at him. "I don't believe I've seen you around here before. My name is Luna. Luna Lovegood."
"I'm-"
Before he could continue, Mordred was interrupted. "Ah! There you are!" said the Doctor as he and Mickey walked over to them. "Hello there. I'm the Doctor, this is Mickey, and this is Mo- Michael."
Luna smiled at them. "My name is Luna Lovegood. Do you need help with something?" she asked. The Doctor hesitated before answering. "Yes. Do you know of anything purely evil? I mean, evil enough to- to kill unicorns? Like- three in fifteen minutes..." he asked. Luna thought about this. "Perhaps. There are these terrible creatures called Ynthia. I've read about them. They can transform into any creature, and although they sound like Boggarts, they're not. There aren't that many of them left though. Most of them were overrun by nargles and wrackspurts, which are their enemies. I'm not sure where you could find one. But they could be deadly enough to kill Unicorns. Oh. Hold on. I have something here on them." she explained. The three stared at her as she dug through her bag. Who knew she had such knowledge of these things. She certainly was an interesting person.
"Here we go." she said. She pulled out a small green hard cover book. The only words on them were: The Tales of the Ynthia by Xenophilius Lovegood. "My father is the author. He researches these creatures. He runs a magazine called the Quibbler full of information on them. It's too bad that the people just laugh at him though. But, that's not stopping us. I'm proud of him. Along side of the Quibbler, he wrote a few other separate books. Like this one on the creature I've told you about. You can read about it if you'd like." she finished. She gladly handed the Doctor the book. He took it with pleasure.
"Thank you, something's not quite right in that forest, and we're going to get to the bottom of it. Three Unicorns don't just die like that." said the Doctor. He skimmed through the table of contents. Luna had gone back to petting the thestrals. One of the little ones had wobbled over to her. She smiled and took out an apple. It sniffed it, but didn't want it. So instead, Luna took out a piece of raw meat. She tossed it over to the little guy. It ate it up joyfully. Mickey gave Mordred a weird look, while he just shrugged and smiled.
"Habitats, here we go. Let's see. Forest area. Check. Diet consists of plants, and meat alike. Although it is rare, if a small cluster of them are dying they will go after certain animals to stay alive. Those being: Bicorns, Wood Nymphs, Trolls, and even Unicorns. They will drink the Unicorns blood in order to live a longer life even though they are aware of the consequences. Well, it looks like the thing we saw in the forest wasn't a dementor from Azkaban, but a Ynthia. But why would it disguise itself as a dementor? It doesn't make any sense." said the Doctor. At this, Luna turned to look at him.
"Well, earlier this year, someone has escaped from the prison. Dementors have appeared during a quidditch match and our headmaster, Professor Dumbledore was furious. They aren't allowed in the castle grounds. Perhaps some of the Ynthia's have heard of this, they do have excellent hearing. Although sometimes their hunger overpowers their hearing, and they get distracted." explained Luna.
"Ah! Now it all makes sense!" said the Doctor. Just then a realization hit Mickey. "Um, Doctor. In the forest, the one that we saw- didn't it look like it was about to attack us?" he asked.
"Hm. Yes. Perhaps things are already looking worse." said the Doctor. Before he could continue, something made the thestrals go berserk. They started to screech and thump at the ground. Some of them flew away from the group. But the ones with younger thestrals stayed behind. "What's happening?" asked Mickey.
"They don't normally behave this way." said Luna. "They're under control by the gamekeeper here." The thestrals began running to another field.
"Well, if they're going that way," said the Doctor gesturing at the thestrals, "then we'll go the other way! Come on!"
The four of them took off to find out what the heck was happening. They stopped once all of the thestrals had passed them. What they saw surprised them all.
At the edge of the forest, was a dreadful sight of five unicorns on the ground. Luna and Mordred couldn't move. "D-Doctor." Luna stammered. He looked at her. "Ynthia's didn't do this." she said quietly. The other three stared at her. "What?" said the Doctor. Luna looked back at the unicorns. "I'll go get Hagrid. He'd know what to do with them, he's the gamekeeper." with that, she took off.
"Luna wait! Oh! Drat! Wh- If it's not the Ynthia's doing this then what is!" shouted the Doctor. "If we don't act fast, these creatures will become extinct in this area!"
While he was talking, Mickey made his way over to the snow white beasts. It was in the way the they were placed that caught his attention. Not the fact that they were at the edge of the forest, but the way they were positioned. First, they were all murdered in the same way, a slash through the neck. Secondly, they were aligned in a star shape. Why would someone do that? Their tales were in the centre, and were all tied together. It looked as though they were placed as a-
"Sacrifice." said the Doctor. Mickey jumped not knowing that the other two had come. "They're a sacrifice to something. But- a sacrifice to what? Who-" Suddenly a bell went off somewhere in the distance interrupting the Doctor's thoughts. "What time is it?" he asked. Mickey glanced at him, then looked at his watch. "Um. Time and space travel has made my digital watch go nuts Doctor." he said. The Doctor looked at it. "Oh, sorry about that. Here." he took out his Sonic Screwdriver and pointed it at the watch. The screwdriver lit up with energy and so did the watch. "Oh. Thanks. Huh. It's only eight thirty. pm. It feels like it should be later." said Mickey. This made the Doctor think. He looked back at the unicorns.
"What could have been so important at this time." wondered the Doctor. Then a thought occurred to him. "Time. Of course! Wait. Everyone, into the forest. NOW." The others did as they were told.
"Um, why exactly?" asked Mickey.
"Just watch the area above the unicorns." said the Doctor. Although he had no idea what he was getting at, Mickey did so. In less than a second, a circle of light began to appear above the unicorns. "Doctor, what's happening?" asked Mickey. He didn't answer. The light grew larger. Then something amazingly strange happened. A giant black wing came through the light. It was so large that it covered the body of the creature. The three stared at it. The wing came down on the unicorns and covered them. After only one second, the creature went back up into the light, and the unicorns were gone. Soon the light also disappeared. "Doctor...what the heck was that!" said Mickey. The three still stared at the place it had been.
"That... wasn't a magical creature that's for sure." said the Doctor. "It seems as though this one that we saw is seen as a god to it's subjects. I think it entered through a hole in time and space. Someone in this land must have time travelled. It wasn't us. I'd know if it were. When they time travelled, those creatures were able to come to this world. Hm."
"Never a dull moment with ya, eh Doctor?" said a low and husky voice. The three turned to see a very big man. Almost three times the size of Luna, who had come back. "Hagrid! Oh it's good to see you!" said the Doctor. They walked over to them. The two men laughed. "So, out lookin' for more danger are ya?" said Hagrid.
"Yes, well, it's not so much that I go looking for it, as much as it comes to me." said the Doctor. Mickey and Mordred glanced at each other. "Sure." said Mickey. The Doctor gave him an annoyed look, while Mickey just smirked. "I'm Mickey. This is Mo-uh, Michael." he said to Hagrid. He smiled. "Nice ta meet ya! I suppose ya've already met Luna here, oh which reminds me. Ya said somethin' about unicorns?" said Hagrid. Luna nodded and looked to where they once where. Her usual calm expression, turned into a somewhat curious one. "Where did they go? They were just over there weren't they? Although, I suppose that the Ynthia's could have taken them before I got back." she said.
"Oh. I have got to tell Rose about this." Mickey suddenly said. He got out his cell phone, and thanks to the Doctor, was able to text Rose about the upcoming adventure he would soon set foot in.
Merlin:
The next day, Merlin explained the situation to Gaius. "And you believe what this Anhora said about the curse to be true?" asked Gaius. He brought some food to the table. "Well, you said there's a legend that misfortune comes to anyone who slays a unicorn. It makes sense." said Merlin. He looked into his bowl of food. There wasn't much there. "Not much for breakfast, I'm afraid. We're down to our last few scraps of food." said Gaius. Merlin picked up his cup of tea. "Where did you get the water to make the tea?" he asked. He took a sip. "Fortunately, for both of us, you forgot to empty your bath yesterday." said Gaius. What? Merlin instantly spit out the tea. "You're making tea from my bath water?" he asked. But of course he knew the answer to that one. "It's not so bad. Perhaps a little... soapy." said Gaius. Merlin sighed. Great. Just great. "What does Arthur think about the curse?"
Merlin scoffed. "He doesn't believe it's his fault. He's convinced Anhora's responsible for it." he said. Gaius looked at him sternly. "If you do not wish to drink bath water, you better make sure Arthur sees sense." said Gaius.
Later that morning, Arthur was getting dressed for the day. He was just about to put on his boots, when he noticed a few holes in them. "That... rat! It's eaten through my boot, look at it!" he said to Merlin. He got up and showed him the boot. Merlin merely looked at it. "I guess the rat must be as hungry as the rest of us!" he said. Arthur rolled his eyes. "You think this is funny?" he said. Merlin glanced at him. "Moderately." he said. Arthur threw the boot at him and it fell to the floor. "Get it mended. Find that rat." he said. Arthur went to his closet to find something else to wear. "Have you given any more thought to what Anhora said last night?" asked Merlin.
"Ah, well, he may have escaped last night, but at least we now know who we're looking for. I told my father I'll find this Anhora and put an end to it." said Arthur.
"What if he was telling the truth about the curse?" said Merlin. Arthur sat down and began to put on another pair of boots.
"You think I'm responsible for bringing suffering upon my own people? "
"No, not deliberately. When you killed the unicorn, I saw Anhora in the forest." said Merlin. Arthur looked up at him. "Why didn't you say anything?" he asked.
"It was just for a second, and then he disappeared. I didn't even...well, I-I thought I was seeing things. But he was definitely there." said Merlin. Arthur sighed. "That doesn't actually prove anything." he said.
"Doesn't it make you think he might be telling the truth?" asked Merlin. Boy did this prince have a think scull. It was no wonder Camelot had so much trouble over the years. "Because he was skulking about in the forest? That makes me trust him even less." said Arthur. Merlin sighed quietly. "Why would Anhora appear in Camelot, and then lie to you?" he asked. Arthur just shrugged. "We had him cornered. He was trying to talk his way out of it by blaming me." he said. This was getting ridiculous. "Arthur, he can disappear into thin air. He didn't have to talk his way out of anything." said Merlin.
"My father has warned me about sorcerers like him. They will not rest until our kingdom is destroyed." said Arthur. Merlin still pestered on. "Well, I believe he's telling the truth." he said. Arthur stood up and stared at him. "Then you're a fool. You cannot trust a single word a sorcerer says. You'd do well to remember that. Now, I think I've figured out what Anhora's next move is going to be, and when he makes it, we're going to be waiting." he said.
Later that night, Merlin leaned against a pillar by the grain store, with his eyes closed. He was sure thirsty. He kept smacking his lips. He didn't realize that Arthur had come around. The prince sighed. Arthur whacked him on the head. "Don't you worry about keeping watch, Merlin. You just make yourself comfortable." he said sarcastically. Merlin sighed, and smacked his lips again. "Stop smacking your lips. It's annoying." said Arthur.
"I'm thirsty."
"We're all thirsty, Merlin." said Arthur. Merlin sighed again. "Pst! Someone's coming." said Arthur. They got ready for anything. Arthur drew his sword and Merlin followed him into the grain store. They saw the intruder's silhouette. Arthur motioned to Merlin. "You go over there and come in." mouthed Arthur. Merlin nodded, and did what he was told. "Show yourself, before I run you through." said Arthur. Merlin picked up a scythe hook, a man edged around the corner with a shovel in one hand and a sack of grain in the other. "Who are you?" asked Arthur.
"My name is... My name is..." stammered the man.
"Speak up!"
"My name is Evan, My Lord."
Merlin came out of hiding. "I see you think you can help yourself to our grain reserves. My father has order that looters be executed." said Arthur. Evan moved forward a couple of steps. "Please, My Lord. I- I do not steal for myself. I have three children they have not eaten for two days. They are hungry." he said shakily.
"It's the same for everyone." said Arthur. Even glanced down. "I- I know that it is wrong to steal. I couldn't bear to see them starve." he said.
"And could you bear for your children to see you be executed?" said Arthur. Evan shook his head. He looked close to tears, it was almost hard to take. "Then you should go home. If you're caught stealing again, I will not spare you." said Arthur. Evan smiled. "Yes, My Lord. Thank you." he said. He smiled again, and put down the grain and shovel. He then began to go back home. "Wait." said Arthur. Arthur picked up the sack of grain and tossed it to Evan. "Use it sparingly. It might be the last food you and your family get for some time." said Arthur. Evan smiled again at him. "You have shown yourself to be merciful and kind, My Lord. This will bring its own reward." he said.
Doctor Who:
"Well, let's see the site." said Hagrid. The five of them walked over to it. There was nothing. No sign that there was anything ever there!
"I know it looks as though nothing was there, but they were there. There was no magic involved here though. No. Not magic, but aliens. Beings from another world. They've come here through a gap in time and space caused by someone here. That someone, had time travelled opening up that gap. These unicorns were layed down in a star shape, heads out, tails tied up together- oh which planet, which species!" said the Doctor. Perhaps these creatures were new to him. That could mean trouble. He didn't quite know how to deal with them, or where they would appear next in this world. Wait.
"Maybe if we find the place where the person time travelled, that would be the next target!" said the Doctor.
"I believe I can be of assistance." said a older voice. They turned to find an old man, with a long white beard, half moon glasses, and twinkling eyes. "Ah, Professor Dumbledore." said Hagrid.
"Good to see you Hagrid. Luna? What are you doing out here?" said Dumbledore.
"I just woke up with the thestrals sir. I sleep walk, and I guess I might have just found some way out. I'm sorry I didn't realize that I was doing it until I woke up. I would have gone back, but for some reason I felt as though I should stay." explained Luna.
"That's quite alright. No need to apologies over something you can't control dear." said Dumbledore with a nod. "As for the location you need, follow me."
He led the five through the castle unnoticed by anyone, except for a few moving paintings. "It's in this room, the infirmary. Wait here." said Dumbledore. The others did as they were told. "Okay, so who was he?" asked Mickey.
"That was Professor Dumbledore, the headmaster of the school. Nice man he is." explained Hagrid. Mickey nodded. There was a moment of silence. As strange as it was, that seemed to happen often. Mickey cleared his throat. "So..." he said trying to come up with something to say. "How long do you think it will be until-"
Just then Dumbledore opened the door. "Oh." Mickey said under his breath. Dumbledore gestured for them to step inside. "Come in, come in, we don't have much time!" he said. The five scurried in. The room had a bunch of beds all lined against the walls, each with a vase of flowers in between them. They were lucky there weren't many patients. Only one boy who looked to be about thirteen or fourteen. He had red hair, was wearing a sweater, and dark pants. He seemed to have broken an arm or cut it somehow. He also seemed to be passed out, which was good for them. "Okay, now what?" asked Mickey, he was eager to get this "unicorn adventure" officially started already. Hey, he's never seen one unicorn before, let alone the weird creature they had seen earlier. This was big.
"You know Doctor, you are not the only one to be watching for any... trouble." said Dumbledore. The Doctor almost sighed. "As I have said before, it comes to me. Uh, but anyways. We need to figure out a way to stop the portal from opening." said the Doctor. Mickey rolled his eyes when he mentioned "it comes to him" again. It SO didn't. They all knew it. But it was fun bugging him about it. "I do have one idea for a solution." said Dumbledore, he held up a gold chain that had an hourglass surrounded by two circles. "This."
"This my dear friends, is a Time Turner. It allows the user to go back in time only one hour. It must not be use needlessly, the purpose must hold a valid reason. I've allowed two of my greatest students to use it just now. You may or may not be surprised to hear that there is another, mystery, let's say, going on at this very moment. But for this one to be solved, this Time Turner must be thrown into the vortex that it created." explained Dumbledore.
"Causing the gap in time and space to heal! Brilliant!" the Doctor said excitedly. Mickey frowned. That was it? "I guess some things are just easier to solve. Oh man, I'll bet Rose is expecting some amazing adventure. Oh well. That'll have to wait." thought Mickey. Then another thought occurred to him. "Hold on, the people that just used it- shouldn't they still have it? How could this one be the same one?" he asked. Dumbledore smiled. "This is an exact replica of it. I'm hoping that it will stop the gap from becoming larger, and it should do the trick." he said.
A couple of key words stood out for Mickey. "Hope... should... so if it doesn't?" he asked. There was a pause. "If it doesn't... then I suggest we think of something else fast. Hogwarts has never seen a problem like this in all of it's years. Coming up with this took up most of the time. Now. It's time. Everyone stand back from this spot here." said Dumbledore. They did so.
"Only a few seconds now I reckon." said the Doctor. Dumbledore bent down and looked Luna in the eyes. "Luna, would you do the honours of throwing this into the light that shows?" he asked. She nodded and smiled. "Don't worry about knowing when to throw it, you'll know." reassured Dumbledore. With a nod, he got in his place ready and hopeful.
"Uhm, Professor Dumbledore sir, shouldn't we move Ron over there? He's awfully close." Hagrid said quietly, gesturing to the redhead on the bed.
"Don't worry about Ron, I put a protective shield around him. I'm sure he'll be alright." replied Dumbledore.
Merlin:
The next day, Gwen walked through the square. She stopped before she got run over by a man, and a couple of guards. Apparently the man had been caught looting. She sighed at the law. Then something caught her eye. She looked over at the well. It- it was dripping. With water! Water! Just to make sure she wasn't day dreaming, she walked over to it. Gwen placed a large bucket underneath the pipe. Holding her breath, she began to pump. Water came through!
In Arthur's chambers, both he and Merlin gulped down the water with relief. "Never knew water could taste so good." said Arthur. He put the cup down. "My throat was so dry, I thought I wouldn't be able to talk." said Merlin. Arthur sighed in relief. "Well, at least some good would've come from the drought, then." he said. Merlin put his cup down and picked up the pitcher. "More?" he asked. Arthur motioned for him to refill his cup. "The sand's disappeared. The water returned to the well. It doesn't make any sense." he said. Merlin cleared his throat. "I suppose you have some explanation for this, Merlin? Let's hear it. " said Arthur, glancing at him.
"Anhora said you would be tested. And last night, in the grain store, you let that villager go. And he said it would bring its own reward." said Merlin. Arthur shrugged. "He was merely grateful, and so he should have been." he said.
"Maybe that was your first test. You passed it, so the curse has begun to lift. Perhaps this is your reward. I know you don't have to listen to me." said Merlin. Arthur glanced down at his cup of water. He wasn't sure if he agreed with that theory. "Glad we agree on something." said Arthur.
"If you're tested again, you have a chance to end your people's suffering. I know you want that more than anything. Perhaps we should seek Anhora out." said Merlin. Arthur looked at him. He almost seemed to be considering that idea. That would be the first for Merlin. But then that thought shattered. "I cannot negotiate with sorcerers. My father wouldn't hear of it." said Arthur.
"Then it's probably best you don't tell him."
"I must go check on the guard. See if you can find me some food."
Merlin sighed as Arthur left the room. "Find some food!" he mimicked. That man could be annoyingly demanding someti- well, no. It was all the time really. Then he noticed that the rat had finally made it's appearance known. Merlin raised his right hand. "Swealt déor."
Even more people continued to queue outside the grain store. Rose walked among them with Arthur. "Who are they?" asked Rose.
"They've come from the outlying villages in search of food. There's not enough rations to feed the people who are already here." said Arthur. The two were amongst the large crowd, that continued to grow. "You shouldn't blame yourself. I'm sure you're doing everything you can." said Rose.
"It is not enough." said Arthur. He then left the area. Gwen walked up to her carrying a basket. "Did you manage to find any food?" asked Rose. Gwen lifted the blanket and revealed some bread, and quickly covered it again. "Where did you get that?" asked Rose.
"I was able to smuggle it out of the palace kitchens." said Gwen. Morgana nodded. "Share it out amongst the children and old people. Make it go as far as you can." she said. Gwen nodded, and did what she was told.
Meanwhile, back in Arthur's chambers Merlin poured him some fresh stew. "Lost my appetite." said Arthur. Merlin looked at him. "You have to eat something." he said. Arthur shook his head. "I can't. Not while my people are starving. Do you really believe I'm responsible for the curse?" he said. Merlin glanced down. "I'm afraid so." said Merlin.
"We're going to the forest, first thing in the morning. Maybe we can pick up Anhora's trail. Whatever it takes." said Arthur. Merlin smiled. He began to pour Arthur some more stew. "Okay, but you have to eat. You won't be able to help anyone if you're too weak to pass the test." he said. Arthur picked up the spoon and started eating. Then a weird expression appeared on his face. "What kind of meat is this? It has a very strange texture." he said. Merlin glanced at him. "It's pork." he lied. He knew it was useless, because both he and Arthur knew what pork tasted like. This obviously did not taste like pork at all. "This isn't pork. It's far too stringy. What is it? It's, erm..." said Arthur. But then he set his spoon down and gave Merlin a glare. Merlin tried to look innocent, but was probably failing. "It's rat, isn't it?" asked Arthur. Merlin opened his mouth to say something, but then closed it. He nodded. "Try not to think about it." he said.
"Look at me. I'm being rude. Here I am, stuffing my face with this delicious stew when you're hungry, too. Come on. Take a seat." said Arthur. Uh oh. Merlin knew what was going to happen, and he didn't need magic to tell him that. Merlin reluctantly sat down in Arthur's chair. Merlin was hungry yes, but he wasn't that desperate. Yet. "Eat." said Arthur. Merlin picked up the spoon. He hesitated before taking a bite. One thing's for sure- he was never cooking rat again. "Mmm." mocked Arthur. It wasn't exactly Merlin's fault that it was rat, was it? Arthur just said to find some food. That just happened to be the moment the rat showed itself. But yet, somehow it still backfired on Merlin. It always does. "It's actually pretty tasty." said Merlin. The taste was revolting. "Mm. Well, I'm glad you like it. Because..." said Arthur. He grabbed the pot and brought it closer. "There's plenty more." he finished.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. "Enter. Rose?" said Arthur. She stepped inside the room, and smiled at Merlin. "I hate to ask, but I was wondering if you had anything to eat..." she said. Merlin and Arthur looked at each other. Then they glanced at the pot, and looked back at Rose. Arthur didn't say anything, and Merlin smiled.
Later, Merlin and Arthur were out in the woods tracking down Anhora. "I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for." said Merlin. He stared at the ground and tried to find the answer to that question. Not far off, Arthur was doing the same. "You're looking for footprints or broken branches. Anything that would indicate someone passed that..." said Arthur. Then something caught his eye. Or rather, someone.
Anhora. "Merlin! Merlin! He's here!" said Arthur. He started to chase after him. Merlin heard him, but wasn't sure where he went. "Arthur?!" he said.
Arthur kept running. He was certain that Anhora went this way. So- where was he? Then he saw the familiar white cloak. There! Arthur ran down the trail after him. But the trail lead to Evan, the villager he had caught looting. "You? You're a thief." said Arthur. There were no children, or any sign of family in sight. He was alone. The liar. "Wasn't that obvious when you caught me stealing your grain?" said Evan. There were bags of fruit, and vegetables everywhere. How could this man do such a thing? But Arthur had no time for him. He had to track down Anhora before it was too late. "Fortunately I have more important things to deal with." said Arthur. He was about to leave, but he was stopped by Evan.
"You didn't really believe that story about my children, did you?" he said. Arthur glared at him. "What kind of man lies about starving children to save his own skin?" he asked.
"Your people starve because you let thieves steal their grain. That is why they doubt you" said Evan.
"You don't speak for my people." said Arthur. He began to walk away again, when he was stopped. "Hey, your father would never have allowed himself to be fooled like that." said Evan. That was a line that was never to be crossed. "You hold your tongue, or I will make time to teach you some manners." said Arthur.
"Your father would have had me executed, but you didn't have the stomach for it, did you, Arthur? And that's why he doubts you'll make a good king."
"You know nothing of what my father thinks."
"I think he wishes he had another son, one who was worthy of taking his place. You shame him."
That was it. Arthur had had enough. That was the last straw.
"Pick up your sword." said Arthur. He drew his own sword out. Evan smiled and snickered. But, he picked up his sword as well. "The King must fear the day when you will take the throne." he said. Arthur swung at Evan. Their swords clashed a couple of times. "He fears you do not have enough strength to defeat his enemies." said Evan. The battle continued. Evan knocked the sword out of Arthur's hand. He pushed Evan away, and went to retrieve it. "The King must wonder if you are even his son." said Evan. Arthur attacked him, but he kept blocking him. Finally, Arthur gave Evan a fatal blow, but then he disappeared. Arthur looked around for him, but he saw Anhora instead.
Arthur was angry. No, angry didn't cut it. "This is your doing?" asked Arthur.
"It was a test to see what is truly in your heart." said Anhora.
"Your tricks prove nothing!" shouted Arthur. How could a simple spell and insults towards him and his father, prove what was in his heart? "Why did you kill this man?" asked Anhora.
"He insulted my honour!" said Arthur.
"You could have chosen to ignore his taunts. What harm would they do you?" asked Anhora. Arthur was getting tired of this man. "You will lift the curse, Sorcerer." said Arthur. He tried to strike him with his sword, but Anhora disappeared. He reappeared in a different spot as Arthur fell. "Killing me will not help you." said Anhora. Arthur tried to get him again, but failed and fell to the ground as Anhora disappeared. "You have shown that you would kill a man to defend your pride. You have failed the test. For this, Camelot will pay dearly." said Anhora.
"My people have done nothing!" shouted Arthur.
"Your people's suffering is not my doing. It is yours." said Anhora. With that, he disappeared for good. Arthur couldn't believe it. It just couldn't be happening. Not because of him! "Arthur?! Arthur?!" called Merlin. What was he going to do about this now?
Once they arrived at the castle, Arthur was called to meet his father in the grain room. "What is it? What's happened?" he asked. Uther showed him the grains. "All our remaining supplies have rotted. Every last grain." he said.
That night, Merlin was talking to Gaius and Rose about the curse and Arthur. "I know Arthur's stubborn and pig-headed and annoying, but he cares about his people. More than he cares about himself. He will not forgive himself for making his people suffer." said Merlin. Gaius glanced down before answering. "You must make sure he doesn't do anything rash." he said. Merlin nodded. "The mood he's in, I don't know what he's gonna to do." he said. He looked down at his plate. He couldn't believe what they were having for dinner. Merlin glanced at Rose who didn't look pleased at all. However, she reluctantly picked up what they would be eating.
"Ready?" asked Gaius. They picked up the giant insects. "Sure they're not poisonous?" asked Merlin. He just wanted to make sure. Even if they weren't, he would probably still prefer rat over these things. "Quite certain." said Gaius. Well, here goes nothing. "They say they taste like chicken. Unless we're to starve, we must hope they're right." said Gaius. They bit into to them. Merlin made a face. "This tastes nothing like chicken." stated Merlin. Yup. He'd definitely prefer rat. He looked at Rose, to see that she hadn't even taken one bite yet. "Rose?" he said. Sure, they were disgusting, but they were food. At the moment, anything would do.
"Oh, um, I just-" she started, but something began to buzz. Gaius, curious, glanced at Merlin who shrugged. Rose got out the small metal object she called a cell phone. "Oh, sorry, uh, my mum's trying to contact me. Sorry, uh, hello mum!" she answered.
"Oh Rose! It's so good to hear your voice! I hope I didn't call at a bad time." said her mother. Rose smiled. Merlin and Gaius gladly, or uh, not so gladly, finished their bugs, and were now very interested in Rose's ways of communication. Her world was so very different from theirs. They could hear Rose's mother's voice coming from it. It was all so strange. "Oh, no I'm sure it's no trouble. We were just having dinner." said Rose.
"Oh! Here's something interesting, it's dinner time here too! Isn't that odd? We're in different times, and we still have dinner at the same time! I'm just having soup here, um, what is it that you're having dear?"
Rose tensed up and looked at her bug on her plate. "What are we eating? Um, hm. What are we eating?" she said, glancing at the two males for help. She of course didn't want to worry her mum by telling her she was living in a cursed kingdom where the food was scarce. "Oh, uh, we're eating...uh..." said Merlin. He absolutely stunk at lying. Plus, he wasn't the best at coming up with names. "Sorry mum, I'm just not familiar with these titles just yet." Rose said, thankful that she thought of it. "It's some kind of meat dish though. It's um, interesting. Very different."
"I'm sure it's delicious! Oh sweetie, my programs on. I wish I could stay longer, but you know I can't miss it."
"It's alright mum. Have fun!"
"Thank you Rose. Oh right! Before I forget, tell the others I said hi! I love you darling!"
"I will, I love you too mum." said Rose. She hung up and put her phone away. "My mum says hi." she said, even though they could hear her. She picked up her bug again, and was about to chew, when her phone buzzed once more. "Huh. Wonder who that could be." she said, mostly to herself. She grabbed her phone, and saw that it was a text from Mickey. "Oh, it's a message from Mickey. Um, I'll explain this later. You know, after the whole curse thing."
"Hey, it's me! You know that. Anyways, the reason I'm texting. Unicorn Time Travelling Magical Adventure here we come! (The wizards aren't as cool as Merlin, but thy still have magic.) I'll tell you about it later! - Mickey."
Rose smiled at the way he described it. "Unicorn Time Travelling Magical Adventure." That was so Mickey. She finally put her phone away for good that evening, and looked at the bug. She sighed, but picked up. It so did NOT taste like chicken.
Doctor Who:
It was silent. Then just as before, the light appeared. "The creature may look like a dementor, but it's not. Do not fear it. Don't even look at it. Besides, it's probably after me anyways." said the Doctor. Mickey sighed. "Nice pep talk man." he said. The light grew larger like before. Soon they could hear the screeches of the giant winged creature. But then it changed. The image of wings became a dark ripped cloak. It was coming into the world! Luna stared at it, even though the Doctor told them not to. She squeezed the Time Turner in her right hand. She would know when to- NOW! Just as the creature breached the perimeters, she threw it.
It soared through the air, and it seemed as though time had slowed down. The sound of breaking glass rang through their ears. It was so loud that they all had to cover them! Bit of shattered light went everywhere and everyone covered their eyes as well. With just one small peak, Dumbledore could see that his protective shield around Ron was working swimmingly. The light pieces were just bouncing off of it. The only down side was that they were bouncing back right at them so they had to watch out. Luna had the smart idea of hiding behind one of the beds until it was over, and Mordred and Mickey did the same. Suddenly the loud glass breaking sound became the sounds of the creature screaming. The sound was absolutely deafening!
Then, just as soon as it started- it stopped.
The sounds, the shards, and the light itself, disappeared. Time was becoming normal again. "Quickly, you must go! Follow me!" said Dumbledore. Mickey could have sworn he heard him mumble something under his breath afterwards, but he couldn't hear him.
They were soon lead back into the field they were in before. They were also greeted by a lovely sight.
"The unicorns! They're alright!" exclaimed Mordred. He and Luna happily went up to the mystical creatures on the ground. "Yes, they are alright, but they are weak. That is why they aren't standing." said Dumbledore. Luna looked into the eyes of one of them. It seemed to almost be... speaking to her. "Help." said a voice. She stared at it, a bit confused. It was talking, well, not talking exactly, thinking, to her. Communicating. "There is only one way we can be healed completely. By the one who has the purest heart. You, Luna Lovegood."
Luna gave a small quiet gasp. Her? Only her? What could she do? What could- dare she think it- Looney Lovegood, as the others call her, do? Surely they meant Harry, Hermione, or even Ron, or perhaps Ginny, Ron's sister. They were all in Gryffendor, the house of the brave. They were thirteen year old heroes! She was just a twelve year old child! (A/N: hm, can anyone tell me what I'm referencing here? Those past two sentences? Anyone?)
Luna reached out to pet the unicorn confused as to what she could do. But before she could think of anything, a little bit of white light appeared at her finger tips once she touched the creature. What? What was that? She pulled back, in shock. Then she looked again into the eyes of the unicorn. "Only you." it thought to her. That's right. Only she can do it. Was that it? That light? She reached out and touched it again. This time the light grew large and bright. She had to shield her eyes again.
Merlin:
The next day, Arthur waited for his father in the council chamber. He turned to his father as he entered. "There are some supplies left in the palace stores. We are distributing them to the people, but there is not enough to live on. They will not survive for long." said Arthur.
"Then you must stop distributing food to the people." said Uther. Arthur stared at him. "They will starve." he said.
"We must conserve the food we have for our army." said Uther. Arthur couldn't believe what he was hearing. "We cannot let our people go without food." said Arthur.
"We must conserve the food we have for our army." said Uther. Arthur was just not believing this! His own father cares more about his army than his people! "What's the point of defending a kingdom when the people..." started Arthur, but Uther interrupted him.
"Well, what would you have me do?!"
"... starve to death?! Ask the neighbouring kingdoms for help." finished Arthur. His father merely scoffed at that suggestion. Why would his father do this to his people? "They may be able to spare some food." said Arthur. Uther looked at him. "Out of the question. As soon as they realise how we weak we are, our enemies will strike against us." he said. Arthur was getting angry. "You don't know that for certain!" he shouted.
"Besides I would rather starve than beg my enemies for help! What of our kingdom's reputation? Have you no pride?" asked Uther. Arthur paused before answering. "I cannot think of my pride when our people go hungry. They're all I can think of." he said.
"Give the order to stop distributing food to the people. Is that understood?"
"You'll have to give that order yourself."
"Very well. But if you'd caught the sorcerer, I would not have to. That's your responsibility! One day you will understand what it takes to be King!"
Later that day, Arthur and Merlin stood above the square and looked down at the line of people below. "They do not know yet know there is worse to come." sighed Arthur. Merlin looked at him. "What do you mean?" he asked.
"My father is going to stop distributing food to the people. They are to be left to starve. I had a chance to lift the curse. And I failed them." said Arthur.
"You weren't to know you were being tested." said Merlin.
"My people are starving. Camelot is on the verge of collapse. And it is all my doing."
In the forest, Merlin and Rose tried to seek out Anhora. "Anhora! Show yourself! Anhora!" Merlin called. He started walking, when Anhora appeared. "You wanted to talk with me?" he asked.
"Merin." said Rose. Merlin noticed and stepped forward.
"I've come to seek your help. The people are starving. They will soon be dead." said Merlin.
"You must believe me when I say it gives me no pleasure to see your people suffering."
"If it pains you, put an end to it." said Rose.
"It is not in my power to lift the curse."
"Then give Arthur another chance. He has accepted it is his responsibility, and he will prove himself worthy and lift the curse if you give him one more chance." said Merlin. Anhora's eyes widened a bit. "You have faith in Arthur?" he asked. Merlin nodded. "I trust him with my life." he said.
"As do I." said Rose.
Anhora looked down before continuing. "Arthur must go to the Labyrinth of Gedref. There, he will face a final test. If he fails, there is no hope. The curse will destroy Camelot." he said. Then he disappeared again.
"Wait! What kind of test will he face?" asked Merlin.
"That is for Arthur alone to discover." said Anhora. Merlin sighed. They never gave him a straight answer. This one wasn't even for him! It was so frustrating!
"I'm going with you." said Rose.
"What? No, it could be dangerous." said Merlin.
"Look, I know that Arthur becomes king of Camelot, so maybe I can help."
"I'm not letting you, I don't want to lose you."
"Merlin-"
"No, Rose, I- he has to do it on his own."
"Merlin, I know you're going to follow him. You always do, you're suppose to. But, don't want to just stand by and watch like it's a television show- uh, I'll explain that later, but you get my point!" said Rose. She let out a sigh. There was a moment of silence between them, then Merlin walked over to her and hugged her. "I'm sorry Rose. I just- whatever Arthur's test may be could do harm to us if we go, and I don't want any harm to come to you." he said gently. She sighed again, but out of frustration. "I know." she said. She was still annoyed at the fact that he wasn't letting her help, even though she understood why. Rose just knew that she was there for a reason, and it wasn't because she loved Merlin-
Wait. Hold on.
Love?
It wasn't just a crush? Wait. She had a crush? On MERLIN! Well, she figured that she should have known that already, but she hasn't really thought of it like that before. Oh give her a break, they had technically just gotten together. Whatever they were. They were together. Right? Right. Yeah. Of course. DUH, that was the whole reason she stayed in Camelot! She saw the love that Merlin had for her! "I'm an nutter." she thought. She almost chuckled at that, but then remembered that she was still with Merlin. It might be awkward if she had to explain the reason she was laughing at a time like this.
"Now um, will you be alright if you stayed in Camelot?" asked Merlin.
"No." she thought.
"Yes."
"That's good. Thank you!" said Merlin. The two then headed back towards the castle, each with a similar, yet different agenda at hand.
After returning to the castle, Merlin helped Arthur get ready for his final test. "Let me come with you. You don't know what form of test will take. I might be able to help." said Merlin. Arthur shook his head. "You're not coming. I brought this curse upon Camelot. I'm gonna be the one to lift it, or die trying." he said.
"Alright, how does you dying help anyone?"
"I'll die knowing I did everything I can."
"I'm coming with you."
"Merlin, you are to stay here, and help the people as best you can. Is that understood?" said Arthur. Merlin nodded.
There was no chance he was staying at the castle. He followed Arthur out to the labyrinth.
Arthur, with his sword ready, entered the labyrinth. Merlin wasn't far behind, but he had taken a different route. The same was with Rose. Yes, she had followed Merlin who was following Arthur out of the castle grounds.
A few minutes passed by. Or was it longer than that? Soon, Rose found Anhora. "You said Arthur would face a test. And here you are, preparing a trap for him." said Rose. Anhora turned around to face him. "The trap isn't for Arthur. It is for you. Gehæftan." he said. Suddenly vines began to wrap themselves around Rose.
Merlin wasn't having much luck. A maze. Why out of all possible things, did it have to be a maze? He turned a corner, only to find another dead end. He sighed.
Just as Arthur thought he'd never see the end- he did. The labyrinth opened out to a shore line. Then he saw... Rose sitting at a small table that had two goblets on it. Anhora was standing near by. "Rose?" said Arthur.
"I'm sorry." she said. "I wanted to help."
"Let her go. I'll take your test, but not till she's released." said Arthur.
"That is not possible. Rose is part of the test. Please sit. If you refuse the test, you will have failed and Camelot will be destroyed." said Anhora. Arthur sat down at the table. "I thought I told you to stay at home." he said to Rose. He didn't say anything. "Let's get on with it." said Arthur.
It was at that moment that Merlin found the exit. "Arthur! R-Rose? I- what are you doing here?" he questioned.
"I'm sorry!"
"We shall begin." Anhora interrupted. Merlin walked over to the table and stood by the two. "There are two goblets before you. One of the goblets contains a deadly poison, the other goblet, a harmless liquid. All the liquid from both goblets must be drunk, but each of you may only drink from a single goblet." said Anhora. The two boys looked at the goblets. "What kind of ridiculous test is that? What does that prove?" asked Arthur.
"What it proves is for you to decide. If you pass the test, the curse will be lifted." said Anhora.
The three turned back to the goblets. "Let's think about this. What if I drink from my goblet first?" suggested Rose. Merlin shook his head. "If it's poisoned, you'll die." he said.
"And if it's not, then I'll have to drink from mine, and I'll die. There must be a way around it." said Arthur.
"It is perfectly simple. One of us has to die. We have to find a way to determine which goblet has the poison. And then I'll drink it." said Rose.
"Rose-" said Merlin.
"I will be the one to drink it."
"This is my doing. I'm drinking it." said Arthur.
"It is more important that you live. You're the future king. But-" said Merlin.
"This is no time to be a hero, you two. It really doesn't suit you." said Arthur. Merlin sighed. "What if I drink from mine first, and if that's not poisoned, I will then drink yours?" Rose said.
"He said each of us is only allowed to drink from a single goblet. I had no idea you two were so keen to die for me." said Arthur. Merlin rolled his eyes. "Trust me, I can hardly believe it myself." he said. Rose smiled, and Arthur snorted. "I'm glad you both are here." he said. He sighed. "I've got it. Right, we pour all the liquid into one goblet and then we can be sure it is poisoned. Then all the liquid can be drunk, and it will be from a single goblet." said Merlin. Rose looked at him in surprise.
"You never cease to surprise me. You're a lot smarter than you look." said Arthur. Merlin looked at him. "Is that actually a compliment?" he asked.
"Look out!" shouted Arthur. Merlin looked away to where he was pointing. Arthur grabbed his goblet and poured the liquid into his. He brought it to his lips when Merlin turned back around. "No! I will drink it!" said Merlin.
"As if I'd let you."
"You can't die. This isn't your destiny."
"It seems you're wrong again."
"Listen to me!"
"You know me, Merlin. I never listen to you." said Arthur. He toasted to Merlin.
"What is that?" said Rose, as she looked off in the distance. Both men looked to see what she was looking at, but Rose had faked them out. She instantly grabbed the goblet from Arthur. "ROSE NO!" they shouted. She took a gulp, but Arthur grabbed it out of her hands and drank the rest. Rose began to feel faint. "Merl...in..." she whispered. Then she fainted.
"No! What have you done?" said Merlin. Arthur then fell to the ground knocked out. "Arthur! No!" shouted Merlin. He went to Arthur and tried to shake him awake. "Arthur. Arthur. Rose! Come on! Arthur, come on. Come on. Come on! No... Come on. Rose..." he said. It wasn't working! This wasn't his destiny! Rose... they couldn't both be out! It wasn't fair! It couldn't just end like this! Merlin turned to Anhora. "Please. Please! Just... let me take Arthur's place and spare Rose!" he said.
"This was Arthur's test, not yours. The girl chose to drink from the cup herself. It was her doing." said Anhora.
"You've killed him! And Rose! I was meant to protect Arthur!"
"They are not dead. They've merely consumed a sleeping draught. They will come round shortly."
"What?" asked Merlin. A sleeping draught? That's what that was? That's it! "A unicorn is pure of heart. If you kill one, you must make amends by proving that you also are pure of heart. Arthur was willing to sacrifice his life to save both yours and hers. He has proven what is truly in his heart. The curse will be lifted." explained Anhora.
Doctor Who:
"Uh, what's happening?" asked Mickey.
"She's healing them. There is a legend saying that only the purest of heart can do it. Perhaps- it's true." explained Dumbledore.
"Oh." said Mickey. They watched as Luna slowly healed the unicorns. "So um, Doctor, while this has been fun, it uh, it was a little well- dull than what we normally encounter isn't it? I mean, it was great seeing unicorns and magic and such- but, but it was kind of boring. The "adventure" part didn't last as long as I had hoped, and it sped up near the ending. It was just too... simple this time. Don't you think? Don't get me wrong, this place is great, minus the creepy forest, but I was just expecting... more I suppose? Maybe next time we can go somewhere where it's more, oh, interesting? Not that you guys aren't interesting because you are- I'm just saying, and now I'll stop talking." said Mickey.
The Doctor held in a sigh. "What, do you want me to just choose the coordinates randomly again?" he asked. Mickey's face had a panicked look on it. "No! No, just, no. Not that. I mean, we could end up on a planet that is bathed in lethal galvanic radiation from its x-tonic star! We could die just by stepping outside of the TARDIS and run into some unknown strange creature in the process that wants to kill us! No way, never again. Sure, those Vikings turned out to be cool and all- but NO." said Mickey.
"Alright! Oi, you can be a real-"
"Maybe Mickey can pick where we go this time." suggested Mordred, as he so conveniently interrupted the Doctor. Luna had clearly finished healing all of the unicorns that had been hurt in the past hour, and was now listening in on the conversation. "I like your way of thinking Mo-M -Michael." said Mickey. The Doctor sighed. He was definitely debating this. "And what if you accidentally pick some planet that- oh how did you put it? That is bathed in lethal galvanic radiation from its x-tonic star? Oh, oh, and we could die just by stepping outside of the TARDIS and run into some unknown strange creature in the process that wants to kill us?" said the Doctor. Mickey rolled his eyes. "Well, if you give me a list of names and descriptions, then we won't have that problem, will we?" he said.
The Doctor just looked at him, then at Mordred. "He has a point." the kid said. The Doctor groaned. "Alright fine! Mitchell, you can pick." he said. Mickey cheered quietly. "It's Mickey. And FINALLY! I've been waiting for this! I've always wanted to know if there was a world made up of candy somewhere out there..." he said.
"Yes, yes, we get it. Now, we should probably get going. Alright, everyone, back to the forest!" said the Doctor. Before they started walking, Luna ran up to them. "If it's not too much trouble... I was wondering, if it would be alright if I came with you? I've always wondered about other worlds out there. Will it be alright Professor?" she asked sweetly. The Professor smiled. "So long as you bring her back the moment she left, it is alright. Keep her safe will you?" said Dumbledore. Luna beamed with excitement. Although she still looked calm, you could definitely see it in her eyes. "Well, alright then. I guess we have another travel buddy. Let's head out!" said the Doctor. The four began walking back to the TARDIS.
"Off to Candyland!" said Mickey.
"No, not Candyland, that's just ridiculous. Everything made of chocolate would melt on a hot day, it would be illogical." said the Doctor.
"Unless there was something in the atmosphere protecting it." said Mickey.
"Maybe it's magic!" laughed Mordred. Luna giggled.
"Exactly!" said Mickey.
"Uhm, what about cavities? Surely that wouldn't good-" started the Doctor. He was clearly losing by this point though. It was obvious.
While they rambled on about that, Professor Dumbledore and Hagrid watched them leave, and were fairly amused at their current conversation. "They certainly are a strange bunch. Especially that Doctor." said Hagrid. Dumbledore nodded. "Yes, they are indeed odd. But they aren't travelling the universe for any old reason. Each of them have their own. Especially Mordred." he said. Hagrid stared at him. "You mean to tell me-"
"Yes. You are correct Hagrid."
Merlin:
Well, after that mess, the three road back to Camelot. They were pleased to see that the curse had in fact, lifted and people were carrying plates of food. They caught up with Gaius along the way. "Merlin, Arthur, Rose there is good news! The crops are growing once again! They are bringing in the harvest!" he said. The two smiled. "You did it." said Merlin. Uther walked up to them. "Is this your doing? Is the sorcerer dead?" he asked.
"He won't be troubling us anymore." said Arthur. Uther nodded. "Good. Make sure the grain reserves are re-stocked." he said.
"I'll see to it. There's something we must do first." said Arthur.
The next day, Arthur, Merlin and Rose set out for the woods. Arthur layed the unicorn's horn in a burial of stones. "I should never have ended your life. I'm sorry." he said quietly. He and Merlin began to cover the horn with other stones. Merlin looked up.
The unicorn, as white as snow, stood a few feet away from them. "Arthur..." said Rose. Arthur looked up and saw it as well. Rose smiled widely. "It's a unicorn!" she said quietly and excitedly. Hey, this was her first.
When he who kills a unicorn proves himself to be pure of heart, the unicorn will live again.
A/N: IT'S DONE!***If you wanna shout out ideas for the crossover you can! :D They're always welcome! Um...yeah, Mickey is bashing/ making fun of the way I wrote the ending of their part of the story. Lol. I feel as though I rushed it. So, sorry if it seems like that to you guys! I sort of did because I REALLY wanted to get it done and finished for you! :) Hey, I did it! If you're wondering about the time setting of the Doctor Who part, I sort of set it at the very beginning of Prisoner of Azkaban in the Harry Potter series. (Third book/movie for those that don't know the series.)Lol. Also, I got the idea of Harry and Hermione accidentally letting in other creatures from other universes while time travelling, from the episode of Dr. Who, when the Doctor and Rose went to see her dad.
Hm, I wonder who can catch all of the references I make in here? Including one to a Doctor Who episode. Anyone? You may have to be real awesome fans to catch these... There's also a hint in here about the next chapter! :D
R & R please! :)
