The sun rose on that day, pale pinks and reds staining the sky. Caleri sat atop Sila, their armor glinting in the sun. Hiccup and Toothless sat at the edge of a cliff, their faces determined. Sila knew that the betrayl her brother had inflicted on the family had turned her to anger. Caleri patted Sila's head.
A dark cloud formed on the horizon and Sila's tail twitched. The roar of the dragon army drew nearer and every dragon rider tensed. Sila could see her brother's fiery eyes and his malevolent grin.
"ATTACK!" Hiccup screamed, and chaos reined. Sila launched into the air, and takled and Changewing out of the air. Dragon's locked talons and riders slashed the air with their swords and axes. Blood sprayed everywhere, and the pair gasped in horror. A plasma blast hit Sila in the side and she tumbled through the air. Caleri screamed and tried to help right her dragon.
Sila's side burned and she roared at the black figure that hovered yards away from her. Fireeye laughed evily and charged her. She flew out of the way just in time, narrowly missing his attack.
"Sister, why do you sattle yourself with such puny and insolent creatures?" he snarled. He slashed the air and clipped her arm.
"I do not sattle myself with them, they are our friends! We need them, as much as they need us!" Sila cried. She flipped her tail around and landed a blow on his lower leg. Fireeye screamed as blood began to pour out of the wound. His eyes flashed and he tried to tackle his sister. She dodged, but to late discovered she was not his target. Caleri shrieked as she was yanked from the saddle. She felt her shoulder pop out of her socket as the Night Fury launched her high into the air.
"NO!" Sila cried, diving after her friend. Caleri had stopped screaming, she had passed out from pain and the shock. Sila reached and caught her just before she slammed into the ground. Sila gently set the human girl down and shook her good shoulder. Caleri moaned but did not wake. Sila's eyes narrowed as she saw the black figure of her brother flying away.
She sent out a roar of fury and flew into the air. She had not realized he had become faster, but she didn't care. Though she had loved him, hate was beginning to boil in her blood. The thought of how hurt Caleri could be drove the on. Her side burned even hotter but she didn't care. Fireeye had to pay for his sins.
The cove was now below them when she finally caught up to him. She tackled him in the air, and they both began the fast and uncontrolled decent to the ground. The Night Fury turned and Sila realized that he was not her brother.
The ground greeted them and Sila felt a bone snap and her vision began to blacken. She looked at the dragon next to her, finding he was out cold. Pain and confusion began to take her into the blackness. In the distance, she heard cries of the dragon army retreating, and the Berk riders cheering in triumph. Then, she heard nothing.
"Sila, wake up." A soft voice called to her. But she didn't want to go back. She knew her body was broken. She knew she would only know pain. "Sila, please come back to me"
Evening sun shined onto her skin and Sila slowly opened her eyes. Caleri sighed in relief and hugged the dragon's hear with her one good arm.
"Oh, Sila. I was so worried!" the girl whispered. Sila lifted an arm and wrapped it around the girl.
"What happened?' the dragon asked. "How is your arm?"
"We lost some good Vikings and dragons out there, but we got some of them, too. Fireeye retreated, I'm guessing to regroup. And it was only a dislocation, I will be fine in no time" A roar echoed around them and Caleri's eyes filled with anger.
"What was that?" Sila asked.
"When we found you, we also found another Night Fury. While he was still knoked out we put him into a cage in the dragon training arena. Hiccup would like you and I to interrogate him when you feel up to it," Caleri responded. Sila tried to stand, but flinched at the pain in her side and front right leg. She looked down to see it in a thick cast. She looked at Caleri. "Your leg was broken when we found you. It will heal, but may take some time." Sila nodded and stood, not putting weight on it.
"Let's go talk to this dragon."
