Summary: Morgana is defiant against Uther's terrible decision to execute Gwen's father for treason, and plots an assassination with Tauren. Set in 1x12; To Kill the King.

Morgana was still furious at Uther for giving the order to kill Gwen's father, Tom. She remembered talking to Tom when he was in his cell as she slipped the wrought grey stone key to him through the bars. It was evident then that he was a humble man who always worked hard for his own daughter's happiness.

She was truly beginning to see that Uther was a tyrant, something she wanted to overlook all these years as he had took her in as a child and treated her like she was his own daughter. There was no concrete proof to condemn this innocent man. She vowed to avenge Tom's death, for his own sake and Gwen's. Not only is Gwen my faithful maidservant, she is a very dear friend to me. It pains me to have her continue to suffer like this.

She and Uther were merely on a pilgrimage to her father Gorlois' grave, or so Uther thought. Morgana was seething inside with rage, she should have acted in earlier years but she was afraid of what he might do if she raised a hand against him. Gwen's father Tom being killed by Uther's command was the last straw for her.

Morgana scowled to herself at having Uther's presence so close to her, as he leaned towards Gorlois' gravestone.

She inadvertently glanced behind her to see if Tauren was set to assassinate Uther. He must appear at the right time when Uther's back was turned, or the journey would be a waste. I gave the stone to you so you must keep your word. Morgana hadn't wanted to release the Mage Stone to a vengeful man like Tauren, someone who'd threatened Gwen for heaven's sake! The Mage Stone entranced Morgana with his glowing orange beauty, the once and only time she had clasped it in her hands.

Morgana's green eyes widened with surprise at Uther's confession and momentarily looked away to the side to hide her conflicted expression, wisps of ebony black hair blowing out from the comfortable velvet green hood of her cloak. He feels remorse at killing Tom…redemption… She felt touched by how honest Uther felt he could be with her, as his ward. Is it too late now? She mentally kicked herself for rushing in so quickly with her idea. "Uther…"

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Tauren quietly sneaking up behind the vulnerable kneeling Uther, dagger in hand. "No!"

Clutching Tauren's sharp dagger by the gilded hilt, Morgana started to plunge it with all her might, into Tauren's back. She couldn't let Tauren prevail any longer; killing people in cold blood who had done wrong in the past wouldn't change things. It would just lead to more bitterness in the future and would alienate all the ones she loved.

Uther hugged her and she returned it this time, sobbing with relief. He was her loving father figure, all over again…
