Chapter 11 Possession

The next day, was Christmas. I idn't do much. Niamh kept close to me. Harry and I played with her, and he watched her as I got sick a few times from the smell of the food Mrs. Weasley cooked. This made her suspicious as well. It wouldn't surprise me if she already knew.

Of course I wasn't the only one with worries. Harry had a lot on his mind too. I could sense it, although I didn't really need to since I would see it in his face. He feared that his connection with Voldemort would turn him into Voldemort. I think that's why he stayed with Niamh and I, as a way to remind himself that he's good. I knew that he was, yet lately I was questioning where my loyalties lie.

The entire day I had felt as if someone had tried to possess me. Voldemort been trying to take control of me, probably another reason for me getting sick. As for why he keeps trying to possess ME, and that when he does it has no effect on Harry, was a complete mystery. I managed to overthrow his power for the time being, but I had a feeling that won't work for much longer.

I also noticed that morning that I was starting to show for my pregnancy. Sirius and Mrs. Weasley eyed my belly a few times before we left. As we went to leave, Niamh grabbed my leg.

"Jessie don't go. I'll miss you" she begged.

I pried her off of my leg and bent to her level. "I'll miss you too Niamh, but I have to get back to school. How about this, as soon as I get back I'll send you a letter and we can write to each other. Okay?"

"Okay," she said sadly.

I hugged her followed by Harry, Ron and Hermione. She stood with Sirius in the doorway and waved us goodbye.

On the train, Harry and I sat together. We didn't talk much though. I was wearing a baggy sweater, and I kept adjusting it. He kept eyeing me as I did so me. By the time we got back to Hogwarts, it was night time so the students who returned were sent to bed early. The only Gryffindor's who returned were Hermione, Harry, Ron, me the Weasley twins and Ginny.

I couldn't sleep, I felt off, I could tell Harry did too. I felt as though I was a phantom in my own body. Then it happened.

I began to toss in my bed, but not at my own will. My neck twisted like a snake and I began to moan and yell. Hermione and Ginny woke up. "Jess" Hermione said worried. She got out of her bed and rushed to mine, grabbing my shoulder while Ginny held down my arms.

"Jessica!" she repeated.

My eyes were shut then I forced them open. Hermione had a face of horror. I looked into the mirror on my table. My eyes were snake-like and demonic. Hermione knew exactly what was happening.

She grabbed me by the shoulders "Jessica, fight it," she said.

"Filthy MUDBLOOD," I said in return, but it wasn't me obviously. The voice that came out was again, snake-like and demonic.

I was able to regain control for a moment, AH!" My head snapped back and I was in his control again.

"Hermione," Ginny said looking at my blood on her hand. My arm bled and the darkmark glowed.

"Not... this... time... not... Ever!" I cried as Harry burst into the room.

With that I was able to drive him out. It was only a mental possesion, not a full soul one. As soon as he was gone I shot straight up. I felt sick, I must've looked it too because Hermione grabbed a waste backet and held it in front of me. I grabbed it and threw up, yet again. McGonnagal came in, candlestick in hand.

"My word, what's happened?" she asked

"It was you-know-who, professor. He posessed her." Hermione said

"And you came out of it yourself?" I only nodded, I felt weak, from what had just happened. I was also dehydrated from getting sick all day.

McGonagall turned to Harry, "Did the same happen to you Potter?"

"No I only sensed Jessica."

I looked up to Harry and McGonagall, "What do we do now?" I asked.

"Well seeing as how you drove him out on your own, without any experience is thankful enough," she said, "Tomorrow you'll start lessons with professor Snape. Until then try and get some rest."

She turned and left the room, dragging Harry with her by the arm, while Ginny went back to sleep.

Hermione looked at me,"You don't think it's because of..." she motioned toward my stomach.

"It may be. What better time to attack then when I'm at my most vulnerable emotionally."

"Sooner or later people will find out if they don't already know."

"I realize that Hermione, but t's not like there's anything I can do about it!" I snapped that caught myself. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine," she said, "Get some sleep."

With that, the light flicked off and I slowly fell asleep. Once school started again I had trouble getting into my uniform. My shirt wouldn't button all of the way because of my small baby bump. You could still tell with my sweater on, so I kept my robe closed.

I looked out the window and saw Hagrids hut. There was smoke coming out of the chimney. Thinking it was my eyes playing a trick on my I looked again. At the second glace, Hagrid opened the door to let Fang out. I ran to find Ron and Hermione. They were in the Common room.

"Ron! Hermione," I said, "Hagrids back."

We ran to find Harry then went off to Hagrid's. Only we weren't his only visitors. Old Toad Face was at it again. She threatened his job then left, after christening his hut with her wanky perfume, that turned my stomach. We waited until she was gone and Hagrid welcomed us with a hug. I noticed his face was cut up and bruised.

"Hagrid, what happened to you," I asked. He looked over us to make sure no one was watching.

"Come on in and I'll explain." We walkined in and everyone but me took off their robes. Hagrid poored us some tea. Holding a raw steak to his black eye he told us where he had been.

"Now what I'm about to tell ya' is top secret," he said, "Dumbledore sent me to barter with the giants."

"The giants!" Hermione and I said, though we were suddenly hushed. "You found them," I finished.

"Well they're not that hard to find, to be perfectly honest. Bein' they're so big an' all"

"And they did this to you," Harry said acknowledging his wounds.

"Not particularly, no." He held the meat to is eye while Fang watched begging for it.

"Well what did they say," I asked.

"Well I gave 'em Dumbledore's message, but we're no the only ones tryin' to gather 'em. Some of them have already been recruited by You-Know-Who." He met eyes with Fang. He finally gave in and threw the meat to the dog.

Hagrid eyed me as if he was trying to remember something.

"Oh Jess," he said turning around and bringing forth a burlap sack. "Dumbledore asked me to pick these clothes up for ya' for when ya'... you know."

I knew what he meant and made a face of horror, "He knows" I said in a choked voice.

"Well 'o course he knows, mearly the entire staff knows." He spoke to me gently with sympathy.

Harry looked at me, "Kn-know what? What are you talking about? "Nothing." I said turning my head toward him. He looked at me with pleading eyes, I looked away. I hated lying to him, but I just couldn't tell him the truth.

The both of us drew sharp breaths as our scars and my arm began to throb. A wind blew through the cracks in the shabby hut's wall. All five of us walked over to the window. Dark storm clouds were forming. Hagirds eyes grew dark.

"It's changing out there, just like last time. There's a storm comin' you two, and we all best be ready when it does." I looked at Harry holding my arm. We exchanges worried glances. Something big would happen in the next chapter to this story.
