Summary: Arthur apologizes to the druid boy, and vows to rule Camelot fairly. His thoughts during this scene. Set in 4x10; A Herald of a New Age.
Looking at Elyan, one of his best friends and gallant knight, possessed by the ghost of a suffering Druid boy, Arthur's eyes glimmered with tears. I never should have led the attack. It was a mistake that I'm not going to make again. He had decided beforehand, to step into the camp defenceless as the druids once were when the attack began. He broke down in front of the druid boy, his expression sorrowful.
This momentary lapse of judgement and his desperate need to prove himself to his father, had cost many druids' lives, nevertheless. It had haunted Arthur for months afterwards, and the druids' screams never truly went away. They have suffered so much, at my hands.
He confessed all his feelings and thoughts to the druid boy. "But I can promise that, now that I am king, I will do everything that I can to prevent anything like this ever happening again. From this day forth, the druid people will be treated with the respect they deserve. I give you my word."
He no longer truly believed that druids were evil, not like he used to.
He vowed to keep this promise for as long as he lived. He would treat druids as equals, and everyone around him would also be treated equally. He also resolved to acknowledge the good things his friends and family have done for him more often, especially Merlin. Merlin, who's saved my life countless times, and always has my backā¦
Arthur apologized to the boy, his voice thick with emotion. The druid boy's expression translated through Elyan's face was almost unfathomable to read what he was thinking. It held the same sad expression throughout Arthur's confession though, a sadness that was painful and full of sorrow.
The boy then spoke and as Arthur heard him forgive him, Arthur was filled with shock and then also gratitude at been given another chance to redeem himself.
I will lead you all into a Golden Age, where the kingdom prospers and everyone is treated fairly and as equals, I will uphold this promise with all my heart.
