Once she was sure that Anne was out of earshot, Layla began to talk to the others.
"What's the matter?" Layla asked Tom in a whisper.
"Well, you see, Tom & I are going cheer Annie up by making her a new kite exactly like the one our youngest brother ruined at the picnic last Saturday," Alan explained to Layla before Tom even got the chance to speak. "will you help us please?"
Layla gave Alan's question a lot of thought.
"Of course I will help you guys," Layla said to Alan & Tom. "I will make the tail of the kite!"
"Excellent my angel," Tom exclaimed. "we will stop at the craft store on our way home from school!"
