Breath.
The sky was blue, so blue it banished the clouds from its presence. The sun itself was afraid to show itself in comparison to the deep blue of the sky, a blue so pure it made light of the fires of hell. The sunflowers reaching high for the sky all around her, above, below, to both the left and right, like a concealing swamp of abysses.
Breath.
His lips were like liquid fire on her skin, a fire that burned away doubt, that burned away guilt until all that was left was desire. Her fingers threaded through his blonde hair, the strands soothing to her skin. He crouched above her like a panther devouring its prey, careful to stay within the sanctuary of the sunflowers lest he be discovered. Her fingers moved down till they probed his collar, the stiff material curious to touch. His lips froze on her neck, lips pressed into the small indentation of her collarbone. He raised his head, storm grey eyes with flecks of the blue, blue sky stared into hers, taking in every detail as if she was a landscape one sees only once in a lifetime.
"Are you sure?" he whispered, but the answer was on his lips before his all too expressive blankness could change as she leaned forward, her lips meeting his as if for the first time, her tongue daringly tracing his bottom lip as she pulled him ever closer. He paused, passing the point of no return, breaking away from her lips he fumbled with his buttons, bare skin finally revealed to her scrupulous eyes.
Breath.
Her fingers mapped out his back as his kisses trailed the collar of her shirt. Her disguise, the men's clothing concealing her fell away under his gaze. Hair splayed out around her like a halo as they finally connected, the act so divine she heard the angels sigh on the wind as finally the two halves became one.
Breath.
She felt it, the surge of whatever inhuman sensation this was flowing through her.
Breath.
She smiled, for the first time in an eternity she saw her sunflower eyes mirrored in another's, his flecks of sky ripping apart the dark abyss, one piece at a time. He smiled in return, his nakedness a testament to the bareness of the moment- no pretence, no lies, just light.
Just sky.
