A/N: here's the big reveal, what happened to Laxus?
As always read, review and enjoy.
Disclaimer: I do not own fairy tail
This isn't happening.
This isn't reality.
Please, please let me wake up. God, what have I done to deserve this nightmare?
Please God, just let me keep him, just him. You can have the world just leave us together.
Men in covered in the skin of animals, thick and black like mercenaries from hell itself blocked the entrance to his cell, a hole so dark not even the light of his eyes could cast away the stench of death.
"Leave us." Her voice echoed through the chamber, the men like hells hounds obeyed her command, disappearing through the door which closed behind them, imprisoning her with him, though any time with him could never be called imprisonment.
"Cana?" his rough voice whispered from the darkness, his once proud form obscured in shadow. She stepped forward to embrace him, the sound of her shoe hitting the concrete echoing around the small chamber. "Stop, don't come any closer." He urged as loud as his hoarse voice would allow, throat raw from screaming in pain. "I don't want you to see me like this." He whispered, only shame in his tone. She paused, not sure how long they had together before the hounds came back for more blood.
"I don't understand, Laxus." She whispered frantically, dropping to her knees despite the filthy floor. "They said you tried to overthrow Tsar Makarov, that Bixlow and Freed have already been executed." She continued only to get a broken sob in reply. "Please, Laxus…" she whispered desperately, "Please help me understand.." she whispered. She could hear strained shuffling in the dark, his breathing strained and ragged.
"The Bolsheviks are rising Cana," Laxus replied hoarsely. "Gramps won't do anything to stop it, he has 'faith in the people', but faith isn't going to stop them raiding the palace and killing us all." He said, a few fingers coming into the light, the skin torn and caked with blood and dirt, like red arid soil.
"Why didn't you tell me about this?" she asked, wanting more than anything to reach out to touch him.
"In case we failed…. I didn't want you to die with me. I couldn't involve you too…" he said, choking back a sob.
"Stupid boy," she said, "you should know I can't live without you." She said sadly, slowly sliding her hand across the space between them until it came to a stop at the barrier between light and shadow. She waited, staring into the darkness in a vain attempt to find his eyes.
Moment after moment passed until finally his mangled hand came to rest atop hers.
"Stupid girl." He whispered, eyes glinting.
