"Marry me, you insufferable woman before I go insane." He demanded, grasping her arm as his words trapped her in a daze.
"Pardon?" she asked curtly, stepping towards him, his expression compelling her forward. Her wide eyes and kind curving lips calmed him, breathing in the scent of soap and roses, lingering around her like a shroud of scent.
"Marry me you mad Clive woman." He whispered, lips dancing, sound spiralling from his mouth in a startling way, but never the less pleasing to her strained ear.
"Of course you stupid boy, do you even need to ask?" she answered, her fingertips hesitantly traced a line from his wrist over the mountainous crumples in his sleeve to finally rest on his shoulder, the moment far more intimate than she had anticipated. Her cheeks reddened the colour of the Sahara as his calloused skin brushed her cheek softly, the caress unfamiliar yet welcome.
"Because if I didn't you'd call bloody murder, Lady Clive." He replied, eyes following the ridges of her lips as she breathed, erratic gasps that rang loud and clear in his ears. She sighed softly as his hand finally cupped her face, allowing her to clutch its static form.
"If you had your way, I'd no longer be a lady." She jibed, leaning in slightly closer till she could sense the warmth of his chest on her face.
"Oh, but my Lady, the things I like the most about you spring from your perfect femineity." He retorted, finally closing the distance between them, her embrace a feeling he wished he would grow used to; the fire in his chest spreading to his fingertips which lightly caressed the soft skin. Her reply was muffled into silence by his waistcoat, the soft material like a pillow, encasing the blonde man she found herself clinging to in satin.
"Don't worry Lady Clive, I'll make everything perfect for you."
