She stepped off the boat, the moon above and the sun clinging to her arm. The street lamps made his hair a radiant halo. The scene before them was anything but the palaces she was accustomed to, nor the barracks he called home, just a collection of ramshackle houses, some with shopfronts. The most welcoming thing about this new world was their shadows, still unchanged yet somehow different- the two of them together, angles and curves fit in a way she found comforting.

"Welcome to Sydney." A man called, his accent hard to decipher from their previous encounters with English speakers. Laxus squeezed her waist, the comforting gesture warming her against the cold breeze.

"We're finally here, you stupid girl." He said with a chuckle, his blue-grey eyes more captivating than the clear night sky above them. She leaned towards him, her lips soft against his. She didn't notice the other night time commuters glaring, or their luggage being dumped at their feet, or even consider where they would retreat to so late in the night.

All she thought of was him, the light that blinded the sun and the power to make a world just for them.

He was the Thunder God, and she was his queen, the darkness to his light, and that was enough.
