"Alright, let's get you all cleaned up", Sid said. "I mean, what's your daddy going to think when he finds you all smushy and stinky like this?"

Frida stuck her tongue out in disgust as Sid licked his finger and started cleaning the baby's face. She felt so sorry for him, having to smell and wear that disgusting scent of the sloth. Thankfully Manny stopped him from cleaning the baby any further.

"I think he's starting to look like me", Sid said holding the baby up to him. "Hey, Diego, what do you think?"

Diego looked at them, then looked away as the group started entering the opening of Half Peak.

"Maybe we shouldn't do this", he said.

"Why not?" Sid asked.

"Because if we save him, he'll grow up to be a hunter. And who do you think he'll hunt?"

"Maybe because we saved him, we won't hunt us", he suggested.

"Yeah? And maybe he'll grow fur, and a long skinny neck and call you Mama!"

"What's your problem?" Manny asked.

"Nothing", Diego answered. "Let's go. I'm freezing my tail off."

Frida looked at Diego worried. There was something off about him this morning. He had been very distant with everyone and snapping a lot. Did he not get enough sleep last night or something?

Diego stopped as the group walked into the peak. He looked up to see Oscar watching them. He turned around, most likely to report to Soto that they had arrive. Diego looked ahead of them at the herd. Was he really doing the right thing, leading the group that really cared about him to their deaths? And Frida...he was sending her to be a prisoner to Soto for the rest of her life. Was it right of him to do that?

"Hey, Diego", Manny called. "You frozen back there?"

Diego looked down and sighed, battling his emotions. This was the biggest choice he had ever made in his life. He ran ahead of the group, stopping them from going any further.

"Get down!" he said.

"What?" everyone asked.

"Shh! Get down and follow me."

"What are you talking about?" Frida asked. "What's wrong?"

"At the bottom of Half Peak", Diego sighed. "There's an ambush waiting for you."

"What?" Sid gasped.

"What do you mean ambush?" Manny asked. "You set us up."

"It was my job!" he explained. "I was supposed to get the baby, but then-"

"You brought us home for dinner!" Manny yelled.

"And me?" Frida asked as tears came to her eyes. "What were you planning on doing with me? Just kill me with the others?"

"You were to be the mate for the leader of the pack", Diego said looking down. "But listen to me, I can explain."

"Give me away just like that?" Frida cried. "You didn't care about me at all, did you?"

"No", he said trying to explain. "It may have started out that way, but everything's changed."

"Stop it!" Frida said. "From the very beginning, you lied! And not only did I believe you, I actually-"

She growled as she swiped her paw at Diego, hitting him across the face. Good thing she didn't have her claws out or she would've scratched his face good. Frida turned away feeling hurt and upset.

"I'm sorry", Diego said looking down.

"No you're not!" Manny said pinning him to the wall with his tusk. "Not yet."

Frida gasped as she saw what was happening. Was Manny going to kill Diego.

"Listen", Diego strained. "I can help you."

"Stay close, guys", Manny said. "We can fight our way out."

"You can't. The pack's too strong. You have to trust me."

"Trust you?" he asked. "Why in the world should we trust you?"

"Because I'm your only chance", Diego answered.
