Chapter 11: Mr Brightside
The sunlight crept in through the cheap faded nylon curtains of the motel disturbing Caroline as she turned to look at the tiny digital clock that stood covered in a thick layer of dust on the night stand. The red lights reading 5:30 am flashed as if to personally offend her further at this ridiculous time in the morning.
"Damn sunlight" she groaned pulling the covers over her face.
"and good morning to you to love" Klaus smiled hugely sitting prompt against the cheap pine headboard still topless from the night before.
"Seriously!" Caroline threw the bedsheets away from her face, pulling herself to sit up next to him trying to fix her hair away from her eyes.
"We better be moving soon" Klaus informed her obviously amused by her reactions to waking up next to him.
"Why are we even awake" Caroline complained not used to the early starts as she turned to face him. He really was quite handsome even if they had just spent the night in a crappy motel, the bed head look kind of worked for him and his muscles were toned from what she could see of his upper body with the tattoo he had on his chest emphasized in glory from his abs.
No she thought to herself, do not focus on his body and think about Tyler up in the mountains fighting to come home.
"Well by all means I will not oppose to spending more time in this bed with you but to avoid an awkward mid-morning entrance back at the house then I suggest we leave soon." he explained stretching his arms to give Caroline an even better view of his defined structure, smirking when he caught her looking ever so slightly.
"That makes sense.." she trailed off lost in her own thoughts of his body and how long it had been since she had been this close to Tyler or even been with Tyler. But she violently shook those thoughts from her head not allowing herself to be caught up the state of missing her boyfriend nor would she allow herself to take her frustrations out on anyone but Tyler especially not Klaus of all people. "Maybe just another hour so I can wake up properly" she suggested not yet ready to face the world or any of her problems the major or minor.
"As you wish my princess" Klaus told her paying particular attention to the word princess.
"I am not your anything" she argued back in a bad mood from being awake so early and then instantly plagued by Klaus and his raring-to-go attitude.
"Ah but until the end of this week you are still my princess" he kissed the top her head quickly before she could object smiling as he vanished to prepare the car for their long journey back to the mansion.

Dear Diary,
We are no longer in New York but instead Paris.
I think Damon has had a secret game plan all along and taken the opportunity of the games to his advantage.
Is it wrong that I am letting him take me to see the world?
I do miss my friends and we haven't spoke in the 3 days which is not normal for us so it looks like I will have a lot to make up for when I get home.
But for now I want to have some fun with the care free Damon that isn't burdened by life in Mystic falls.
Love Elena

Bonnie had been surprised by the garment Arabelle had walked in with this morning, it was a deep midnight blue tea dress with a white lace apron.
Not quite the style Bonnie would wear everyday but it was certainly an improvement to the early century floor length frocks he had been choosing for her in the beginning.
Bonnie contemplated this change in behaviour now as she twirled in the foyer on the way to the library causing the dress to whirl and give a sense of freedom, a metaphor for their new found friendship.
Another excellent change was that she no longer had to face a long list of manual labour and petty chores but rather was given a simple task then the rest of the day as free time. Yet he remained away from her so the other girls that worked full time in the mansion did not have reason to pick on the young witch.
Bonnie reached the exquisite library that was so rich in literature it could give some of the best universities a run for their money.
Bookcases ran from the floor to the ceiling surrounding ever inch of walls space, in the middle a large open fire stood before two arm chairs with a desk on the opposing wall.
The only problem was the floor space or rather lack of floor space completely; books upon books, novels and novellas, encyclopedias and journals lay stacked upon each other as though they were apart of the décor themselves.
This job would take an entire day... for a human.
However Bonnie Bennett was not your everyday human but a witch of great power, so what if she had to play fairy god mother on the odd occasion and do a bit of spring cleaning. She merely viewed the exercise as a daily magic warm up and with that she closed her eyes breathing in and blowing a deep breath from with in her causing all the dust to vanish, before she twirled her fingers causing the books to fly in every direction as they each found their own place categorised by the system already in place. Smiling at the instant improvement of the room Bonnie snapped her fingers causing a fire to ignite the logs that now burned in the open fire place at the same time the curtains opened allowing light to flood in to the dark room showing it a new kind of beauty.
"Show off" Kol smirked appearing on one of the arm chairs by the fire.

They were back on the road gaining as much ground as possible in order to lower the risk of being caught coming home mid-morning. Together.
Caroline had offered to drive and now had her foot firmly placed on the gas pedal as if she could speed up the entire process and power through the awkwardness that now hung in the air between them.
"I am curious" Klaus began whilst tapping on the dashboard obviously bored with not being in complete control of the car "what did you wish for last night?" he asked with a genuine tone of curiosity.
"That Tyler would come home quickly" she replied in the same instant hoping to get her point across that she was very much in love with her boyfriend.
Klaus only nodded allowing the silence to drift back between them once more as the car tore into the tarmac below them.
Caroline sighed regretting how harsh she had been now from the look on his face, she wasn't being fair. " What about you?" she asked softly trying to lift the heavy atmosphere in the car.
In that moment a huge grin crept up his face and beamed full of life and energy once more radiating a sense of smugness as he replied "I can not tell you".
"and why is that" she asked annoyed by his sudden shift in mood from being upset to arrogance.
"Because I am putting all my hope and every bit of faith into my wish coming true" he told her his face becoming serious as the zoomed past the Mystic Falls sign.

"I see you actually approve of this dress then?" Kol asked tilting his head to the side casually noticing how the short dress really exaggerated the length of her long dark legs.
"Well its still slightly dressy for my style, but it is an improvement" she smiled avoiding his stare and losing her hands to the dress as she fussed over the skirt and tampered with the hem.
"You have not yet turned it into a complete new costume thus I will take that as a small victory" he smirked a sideways grin that Bonnie noticed she had grown to rather enjoy than his fierce glare.
Kol got up from the chair to admire the witch's work spent on the library that by now was spotless with every book in alphabetical order, the fire roaring and crackling, the desk straightened with documents sorted.
She had indeed been very busy.
Bonnie frowned and walked over to the chair in which he had been sat, straightening a pillow placed as décor before turning to the vampire "I'm finished".
Kol grinned wide "but what about all the feathers everywhere?" he asked as her forehead creased revealing a confused expression.
"What feathers?" she asked just as Kol launched the pillow Bonnie had been sorting right at her.
Bonnie in defence raised her hand causing a shielding spell to stop the cushion mid- flight effectively destroying it and releasing hundreds of tiny white feathers scattered along the floor.
"Those feathers of course darling" Kol laughed childishly a contagious laugh that Bonnie could not help join in with, and in this moment she realized an important fact about Kol that although an original vampire was also a boy or a man rather that could be sweet and funny and manage to make her laugh.
Bonnie of course then retaliated by throwing a much larger cushion and before they knew it a full on pillow fight had emerged from no where with fistfuls of feathers being thrown like snowballs, laughing and running around the room as Bonnie tried ever so hard to catch Kol and make him pay for ruining her freshly organized room.
All was going perfectly until a voicemail had appeared on Bonnie's phone, they unwillingly called a cease fire as she held the phone to her ear:
Hey Bon,
It's Jeremy look I know you may still be pissed at me over Anna and thats fine I completely understand but Elena is out of town and Ric has work or Meredith and I thought we could hang out maybe?
The room suddenly got very quiet as Bonnie ended the voicemail, placing the device in her back pocket only for it to swiped by an annoyed looking Kol.
"Hey give that back" Bonnie protested
"Little Gilbert should mind his own business he knows you are staying here this week" Kol told her quietly whilst grasping her phone tightly in his hand.
"Well I have free time Kol" she told him her voice raising slightly
"That I gave to you" he argued back at the witch who now had her arms firmly crossed.
"oh so now you want to play the master card?" she questioned out raged by his sudden shift in character.
"I am the master darling" he snapped angered by her defiance
"At this present moment in time you are acting as thought you are a spoilt brat, why do you care that Jeremy is calling anyway?" she glared into his hazel eyes that had gone cold so quickly.
"What is he to you anyway?" Kol averted her question
"It doesn't work that way Kol, I asked you a question first"
"It works how ever I want it to" he all but growled back at her before storming out of the room retreating to wherever in hopes of getting the small witch from his sight.
Bonnie flopped down on the floor in a heap of feathers hating how the day had taken a turn for the worse.

The car pulled into the gravel area at the front of the mansion, by this point it was only just afternoon the house would very much be up and running to their dismay meaning there was a strong chance of being caught coming home late as in next day late.
"Home sweet home love" Klaus smiled as he walked to the front door
"Its not exactly the ritz" Caroline mimicked his answer to the motel the previous night as she slammed the car door behind her "Tomorrow we are not going anywhere outside of Mystic Falls" she groaned trudging up the steps of the mansion to the foyer.
"As you wish sweetheart" Klaus grinned paying particular attention to how she had used the word "we"
