Also, some of you may have noticed that I changed my penname to klarolove-love, I just did this because I thought it would be less confusing if my tumblr matched my . Okay enough of that, here is chapter 14!

Caroline's POV
When she walked onto set that day, the entire crew was talking animatedly to each other in hushed voices. Upon noticing her arrival they immediately stopped talking and stared. She stood there awkwardly for a few seconds, their scrutiny boring into her like a laser, before she cleared her throat, attempted to hold her head high, and strode over to the craft service's table, extremely conscious of all the pairs of eyes that were following her every move. She poured herself a cup of coffee as she tried to ignore the uncomfortable sensation of being watched. This was getting a little ridiculous, it was one thing to be watched, and stalked by the paparazzi, it was another thing to be watched while you were at work. She tried not to let it irritate her, and was not succeeding very well, when Bonnie walked up.
"Hey," she said with a smile.
Caroline let out a sigh of relief at the friendly face,
"Oh thank God you're here Bonnie, I thought I was going to suffocate from all the awkward stares and whispers."
Bonnie shrugged her shoulder, and scrunched her nose up in an attempt to look confused,
"What awkward stares?"
Caroline raised an eyebrow in response. It was nice of her to feign ignorance, but totally unnecessary since even the most socially awkward person on the planet could probably sense the tension on the set right now, it was that palpable.
"Bonnie, come on," she remarked, an amused smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.
Finally, Bonnie relented with a shaky laugh, and a shrug of the shoulders,
"Okay, so there were some awkward stares, I'm sure everyone is just curious since we all thought you hated each other..."
Caroline looked at her friend and costar, again grateful at her attempt to feign ignorance and disinterest. She really didn't feel like being hounded by a ton of people about the whole K word thing right now. Especially since she was already swarmed by the papz when she stepped out of her apartment that morning, which led to a long walk to her car consisting of grown men screaming at her, "Caroline, are you dating Klaus?," and "What happened with you and Tyler?" She shuddered just at the memory.
Still she felt she owed her friend some type of explanation, even if she couldn't even explain the situation to herself. So she opted to go with the vague, but still true,
"Me and Klaus are friends… and besides, you can't believe everything you read in magazines..," as she looked down, and stirred her coffee way past the necessary blending point.
Bonnie accepted that answer though, and with an understanding smile just said,
"Don't I know it, sister."
The two of them talked for a little longer, laughing over the craziness of the tabloids, and all the ridiculous stories that they print. She was going to miss her new bohemian friend when they were done shooting in a couple weeks. It was hard to meet someone in the industry who was down to earth, and not totally full of themselves, but Bonnie epitomized both qualities.
They were still talking when David walked onto set. He waved at her from the opposite end of the stage, and headed in their direction.
"Caroline, good I'm glad I caught you, listen there has been a change of plans. Because of the weather forecast we are actually going to be filming the park scene today, and not Thursday."
Oh no, not the park scene. She was not ready for the park scene. She was not prepared to deal with the park scene today of all days. Not after what happened last night. But of course, she was a professional, so she had to be ready to do the park scene. She had to suck it up, put on her big girl pants, and be Caroline Forbes.
"Ok, no problem, David," she said, trying to hide the reluctance in her voice with an enthusiastic smile. She could see Bonnie looking at her with concern out of the corner of her eye; apparently she wasn't buying the enthusiasm. David however, was completely oblivious.
"Great! So just head to the drop-off and pickup area at 11, and a driver will be waiting for you, to take you to location, just make sure you head to the wardrobe and makeup trailer before you leave since we'll have touchups on location, but not a whole trailer, ok?"
"Got it, 11 o' clock, I'll be ready," she reassured him
David grinned at both of them as he backed away,
"Awesome, see you there, and make sure to bring your acting hat, big scene!," he shouted over his shoulder, and with that he was off, probably taking care of some other director problem, who knows.
Caroline stood there, arms crossed in front of her, eyes wide, staring into space. Oh god, as if this day wasn't already terrible, now she had to do the park scene. She brought her hand to her temple, and subconsciously started rubbing it in small circles, attempting to ease away the minor headache that had just appeared.
"Are you okay?," Bonnie's voice suddenly piped in.
Caroline quickly snapped her focus to the brunette in front of her; she had totally forgotten she was standing there. She looked at her as she processed her question. Was she ok? Obviously she was not ok, but she couldn't tell that to Bonnie because then she would have to explain why she wasn't ok, which she couldn't do without explaining everything that had happened, and she just wasn't ready for that. Come on Caroline you're an actress, she told herself, just act like you're ok. And so she put on her biggest 1000 watt smile, you know the one that sold a bunch of magazines, and with a sickly sweet voice said,
"Of course! I'm great! Just a little tired you know?,"
Bonnie looked at her through narrowed eyes, and an arched eyebrow. She could tell that she was skeptical of her excuse, but apparently not enough because she just shrugged and said,
"Yeah sure, if you say so, but you might want to head over to the hair and makeup trailer now, it's already 9:30, and you know how long it can take them…"
Caroline groaned, looking down at her watch. Bonnie was right it was half past nine; hair and makeup could take forever, and she didn't want to be late for her ride at 11. At least sitting in a chair for an hour and a half would give her a chance to be alone with her thoughts and away from the awkwardness of the set. So with a grateful smile, she waved goodbye to her friend, grabbed her coffee, and made her way to the hair and makeup trailer.
X
She had been sitting in the makeup chair for about half an hour, just chatting idly with Cassandra, the hair lady. She liked Cassandra, she had been her hair and makeup person on a couple other movies that she had worked on, and the two had struck up a nice, friendly working relationship. It was about 10 o'clock now, half an hour had passed since she sat down, and Cassandra was in the middle of telling Caroline a hilarious story about this one time she did make up for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson during the Twilight movies, when the door to the trailer opened. Caroline turned around in her chair, still laughing at the ridiculous story about the vampire makeup, when she saw who it was that had entered the trailer, and her laughter died on her lips.
Noticing the abrupt cease in Caroline's laughter, Cassandra tore her gaze away from Caroline's face which she was currently attempting to transform into that of a movie star, and looked in the direction of the door. When she saw who it was she smiled, but then she seemed to notice the abrupt silence, and Caroline's sudden interest in her hands, and her smile fell a little, clearly sensing the awkwardness of the situation.
"Klaus," she greeted him in her raspy Jersey voice, "you here to get your makeup done, sweetie?"
Klaus, who had been staring at the back of Caroline's head, looked away to meet Cassandra's friendly gaze. The right side of his mouth quirked up into a lopsided grin, as he rubbed the back of his neck with one of his hands in a nervous gesture,
"Sadly, yes love, I am," he joked.
Cassandra laughed, and nodded her head, as she put down the makeup brush she had been using on Caroline.
"Alright well, I'm working on Caroline right now so I'm just gonna go and grab Denise to do your makeup, I'll be back in a minute, ok?," she said, directing her statement to both Caroline, and Klaus.
Caroline's heartbeat quickened at Cassandra's words, as she tried not to think about the fact that she was going to be left alone with Klaus. It wasn't a big deal she kept telling herself; it was only going to be for a few minutes, no biggie. She nodded her head at Cassandra, and then the Jersey native gave both of them a quick smile, before heading out the door, leaving the two of them in the most uncomfortable silence she had even been in, in her entire life.
Klaus stood by the door for a few seconds, before he eventually trudged over to the makeup chair, one over from her, and took a seat. Caroline nervously twirled her hair around her finger, keeping her eyes down in an effort to not look in the mirror or make eye contact with him. She tried to ignore the fact that she could smell the delicious scent of his musk wafting in her direction, even from two seats down. She wondered if he felt as uncomfortable as she did in that moment. Perhaps he too was avoiding eye contact? Maybe if she just took a quick peak in the mirror she would be able to get a read on his mood. Stealing herself, Caroline flicked her eyes up towards the mirror at Klaus' reflection. Her eyes quickly met his, which had been boring into hers in the mirror, no subtlety at all. The moment their eyes met she was frozen in place. She could feel the blush creeping across her face, as memories of last night rushed to her mind. She remembered those very same eyes looking down at her, filled with so much emotion as she gasped his name.
Biting her lip, she tried to look away but found that she couldn't. Should she say something? She wanted to, if for anything else, to just break the silence. But what should she say? What did one person say to another person after they made out with them, then kicked them out of their apartment when their boyfriend called in the middle of said make-out session? Caroline had no idea. Luckily, she didn't have to come up with anything, for at that moment Klaus spoke.
"I hope you know, it was never my intention to have any photos, or articles written about our…outing yesterday," he said in a quiet voice, never breaking eye contact. Her heart constricted at his words, and the careful way he chose the word "outing" to describe their activities the previous day.
She smiled sadly, the corners of her mouth barely moving, as she thought about what he said.
"I know, I don't blame you for the articles," she said softly, finally looking down at her hands, breaking their eye contact, "besides it's not like 100% true…"
They sat in silence a few minutes longer, slightly less awkward than before, but still extremely uncomfortable. Then, Klaus broke the silence again,
"I'm not trying to…," he started to say before stopping mid-sentence. Caroline noticed his fingers tapping quickly on her leg, a nervous gesture she herself often times demonstrated. She waited with baited breath for him to continue, and when he didn't she surprised herself by inquiring,
"You're not trying to what?"
Klaus gazed up at Caroline, but didn't say anything. She could see the gears in his head turning, as if he was going through some type of internal debate. Then suddenly, and without warning, he quickly stood up from his chair, and came to stand right in front of Caroline. Suddenly her heart was beating so fast she thought it would explode. What was he going to say? What was he not trying to do? And more importantly, why did she care?
With him standing within such close proximity of her, she could notice all the details of his face. She regarded with reverence, the soft curls sitting atop his head, the very same ones she had ran her hands through the night before. She tried to ignore the tingle that ran through her palm at the memory, and the sudden urge to do it again, as she made herself focus on his eyes, and whatever he was about to say.
He swallowed the lump in his throat that had formed the second he had stepped into the trailer and seen her sitting there. Then through half lidded eyes, eyes that were pleading with her to believe what he was saying, he opened his mouth and spoke in a hushed voice, so quiet she had to lean in a little to hear,
"I'm not trying to mess with you…or inter- interfere with your life," he stammered nervously as she inspected him curiously, not quite sure where he was going with this.
"It's just- what I mean to say is that, what transpired last night, between the two of us, what I said about the way I feel…I didn't just say it to get you to kiss me or whatever…those weren't my intentions when I asked you to spend the day with me…"
Caroline considered him from under her eyelashes, her forehead scrunched up in confusion as she listened to him stammer his way through some type of confession.
"Klaus, I'm not really sure what you're trying to say…," she responded.
He nodded as he turned away from her, for a second, suddenly seeming very antsy. He ran his hand across his face, as if to gather his thoughts, before turning back around to face her, revitalized.
"What I'm saying is that I care for you…I care for you as more than costars, and as more than friends. And I know it doesn't make any sense, and that we've only known each other for a few months,… I know all this. I realize that what I'm saying is crazy, and totally irrational but…it's the truth," he sighed looking at her with those blue eyes so full of passion, "It's the truth."
She couldn't breathe as she looked at him. She literally had to remind herself to take a breath. His words made her heart race, and a large part of her wanted to throw herself into his arms and tell him she knew exactly how he felt, and exactly how crazy it was, because she felt the same insane, irrational thing, and she couldn't explain it. However, the rational side of her, the side of her that kept reminding her that it was not acceptable for women with boyfriends to have conversations with other men like this, let alone make out with them, that side of her was the side that won over the fight for control of her speaking ability.
"Klaus, I have a boyfriend."
Wow as if that wasn't the most obvious thing in the world Caroline, good going
Klaus looked at her; he appeared to be slightly frustrated with her response. Frowning he said,
"Of course I know you have a boyfriend, but-"
"But what?," she interrupted loudly, standing from her chair to face him,
"I have a boyfriend, but you like me so I should just break up with the man who I've been dating for years? Is that what you're saying, huh,?," she shouted, her frustration feeding her anger.
Klaus narrowed his eyes at her, his face no longer looked sad but now looked slightly angry, or misunderstood. He looked like a school teacher who was getting frustrated with his students for not understanding a concept. She noticed that he was clenching his fists, probably in an effort to cope with any anger he was feeling towards her.
"No that's not what I want Caroline, but I know you, and I kn-"
At that a cold, humorless laugh erupted from Caroline's throat as she felt the rational part of herself become even more exasperated. She knew what he was saying, she knew what he meant, but she wouldn't let herself hear him. She couldn't hear his argument over the loud roar of the logical one that burst from her mouth at that moment.
"No you don't know me Klaus! You don't know anything about me, that's the point! You don't know my middle name, or where I grew up," she shouted at him, poking her finger into his chest, punctuating every reason, "You don't know what my interests are, or what my favorite book is, or anything about me besides the fact that I have a boyfriend, and was stupid enough to be fooled into cheating on him, with someone who doesn't know me," she finished, slowly enunciating every single word, as she stood in front of him, arms crossed.
She glowered up at him, as she tried to catch her breath. Klaus no longer looked sad, or frustrated. In fact there was only one word to describe how Klaus looked now: angry. His eyes had lost any vulnerability that had been there before, they were now ice cold, and guarded, searing into her soul. Caroline gulped as she stared up at him, amazed and terrified at his transformation, waiting for him to speak through his clenched jaw.
"Poor Caroline, looks like you aren't so perfect after all," he sneered, slowly walking towards her, like a predator stalking its prey, "But don't go and blame me because you feel a little guilty. Nobody made you kiss me, love. In fact, if I seem to remember correctly it was you who practically mauled me last night back at your apartment, so don't blame me because you were too horny to keep your hands off me."
He smirked cockily as he continued to walk towards her, slowly backing her up against the makeup counter, until they were standing face to face, right in front of each other, nowhere else to go.
"Oh and you're right, perhaps I don't know you as well as I thought I did, I was confident that you were going to be much harder to get into bed…but I guess we all make mistakes," he sneered, his lips quirking up in a sadistic smirk, that didn't look right on his face.
Unexpectedly, her hand whipped up from where it had been braced against the counter, and cracked across his face, leaving a pretty severe red hand print.
"You son of a bitch," she fumed, as he brought a hand up to cradle his injured cheek.
She didn't know whether she wanted to burst into tears, or scratch his eyes out with her fingernails. She didn't have the chance to do either though because at that moment the door opened and Denise and Cassandra entered the trailer, chatting animatedly between each other. When they saw the sight in front of them, Caroline and Klaus standing close to each other, both clearly angry, with Klaus nursing a hand print on his cheek, they both froze in their tracks.
Oh god this looks bad, doesn't it she realized. And so quickly she cleared her throat, and went back to her chair. Klaus soon followed suit, and went to his chair, both of them staring straight ahead, avoiding the others eyes. Cassandra and Denise each walked over to their respective "canvas," where they worked in silence for the next hour, the only sound in the room the steady drumming of Klaus' fingers, against the chair.
X
Luckily, they each took a separate car to the location in the park, giving Caroline some much needed time to clear her head, or at least to attempt to clear her head. She was sitting in the back seat, watching the scenery change out the window, when her phone started ringing. Looking down, she saw it was Elena who was calling. Yikes, she hadn't talked to Elena since all the magazine stuff happened, even though it was common for magazines and tabloids to spread rumors like the one from yesterday, normally they didn't have any substantial evidence at all to back up their story, let alone a bunch of pictures, and bystander quotes. Reluctantly, she answered the phone on its last ring.
"Hello," she said hesitantly, waiting for the lecture to come,
"Caroline Forbes, what in the world were you thinking!,"
There it was.
"I'm good Elena, thanks for asking," she joked sarcastically
Over the line, she could hear a bunch of rustling papers, as Elena sighed exasperatedly.
"Caroline, this is not funny, do you know what people are saying about you? Do you know how many calls I have gotten today asking for a statement?"
Caroline bit her lip nervously, as she listened to her manager rant. Elena was normally the sweetest and most caring person you ever met, but when it came to business, she didn't joke around.
"I know, I know… I'm really sorry ok! It's not what it looked like, we were just hanging out."
"Really Care? Because from the plethora of pictures, it looked suspiciously like a date! Now I don't know about you, but the last time I checked, women in committed relationships did not go on dates with other men,"
Caroline flinched at that last statement. Oh if only Elena knew. Women in committed relationships normally didn't kiss other men either, but as Klaus so eloquently pointed out in earlier, that didn't stop her. The thought of Klaus reminded her of their row earlier in the makeup trailer, and she subconsciously clenched her fist. She was so stupid to think that he was anyone different the arrogant, son of a bitch, playboy, that he was when they met. She was lost in thought for a while until she heard Elena's voice barking out her name through the line.
"Caroline? Caroline, are you still there?"
She nodded her head, and then realizing Elena couldn't see she responded,
"Yeah Elena, I'm still here."
"Good, I was just saying it will blow over eventually, but we need to do some damage control. Go on twitter, and tweet about how much you miss Tyler or something, and then post a picture on Instagram of the two of you, so that people know you are still ok, and the magazines were not telling the truth, ok?"
Caroline groaned in annoyance, she was not extremely social media savvy, and would normally only use it during occasions like this one, when Elena made her.
"Is that really necessary Elena?"
"Yes, just trust me ok? Also, as I'm sure you know, Tyler is coming home over the weekend for a quick visit before he has to go back to Georgia, so it would be great if you guys could go out to dinner with some friends, maybe even with Klaus, to show people that you are all good, ok?"
Caroline pinched the bridge of her nose in an effort to relieve the stress that was building in her chest. Sometimes she felt like her relationship with Tyler was more about portraying them as the perfect couple in love to the press, than it actually was about them being in love. She wasn't going to argue with Elena though, not now at least.
"Yeah sure Elena, whatever you say," she muttered into the phone as the car pulled to a stop,
"but I have to go now, I just arrived at the location for today, I'll talk to you later ok?"
"Ok, and Caroline, don't forget the twitter and Instagram thing, do it now!," Elena insisted, before Caroline hastily pressed the end button, terminating their conversation. Reluctantly she pulled out her phone, to compose a tweet about Tyler.
X
Klaus' POV
He was standing under the shade of a large oak tree, getting his makeup touched up before they shot the scene, when he saw her arrive. He frowned, remembering what she had said to him just mere hours ago, how she had told him that he had "fooled" her into cheating on Tyler, and how she insisted that he didn't know her at all. That is what hurt the most. To think that he had let his guard down, and been vulnerable with her; he thought that he knew her, and yet she insisted otherwise.
"Alright Klaus, you're good to go," Denise said, interrupting his train of thought.
He looked down at her and smiled gratefully before she walked away. Once she was gone, he subconsciously returned his gaze to the blonde vixen that for some reason, he could never stop thinking about. God she could be such an annoying bitch sometimes, yet for some strange, foreign reason he enjoyed her. Perhaps he should apologize for what he said earlier to her. He was out of line saying that she was easy, and making her think that was his intention. He was running through possible apology strategies, when a familiar voice interrupted his planning.
"Hey, big brother,"
Klaus had to resist the actual urge to roll his eyes.
"Ah, well if it isn't my less talented, less attractive, and all together lesser younger brother," he teased, turning around to see Kol saunter up wearing a white T-shirt, and a pair of light wash jeans, a green apple in his hand.
"In the flesh," Kol joked back, taking a bite of his apple, as he stopped beside Klaus.
"What the bloody hell are you doing here Kol?," Klaus asked slightly annoyed, he did not feel like dealing with his brothers' over the top sense of humor today.
Kol brought his hand that was not holding the apple to his chest in mock insult.
"Niklaus, if Mother were here she would be embarrassed at your lack of manners!"
At that, Klaus couldn't help but chuckle a little under his breath,
"Yes, but mother isn't here is she?," he retorted, returning his attention back to where his costar stood, on the other side of their temporary set. Kol followed his brothers' stare and upon noticing the object of Klaus' gaze, smiled knowingly.
"No she isn't, but a certain other blonde is…," he teased, the way siblings tease each other about crushes when they are 10 years old. Klaus didn't say anything; he merely rolled his eyes at his brother's childish antics.
"What's wrong, trouble in paradise already? You two seemed so promising this morning," Kol smirked.
"Oh, fuck off you git," Klaus growled through his teeth.
Kol erupted in laughter, clearly enjoying messing with him; clapping a hand on Klaus' back, as he too looked over at Caroline.
"Relax brother, I was only joking, I'm sure things are going great with Miss. Forbes, I mean besides her already having a boyfriend, you two are the perfect couple."
He smirked at his brother, allowing himself to find the humor in his statement; after all, it was true. He and Caroline would have a great thing going if it wasn't for the fact that she had a boyfriend. He laughed at the ridiculousness of the whole situation.
"Well if she's running around swapping spit with me while Tyler is out of town, I wouldn't say they are the image of a perfect couple either," he tried to joke, although somehow despite his best efforts it came out more defensively, than jokingly.
Kol didn't respond, causing Klaus to turn to look at him, curious as to why he wasn't making another joke at his expense. Kol never missed an opportunity to not hear his own voice, so if he wasn't talking, something was probably up. He saw that Kol was studying his shoes, avoiding eye contact, his face no longer alight with mirth.
"What?," Klaus inquired curiously.
Kol looked up at the question, his eyes clearly showed he knew something he wasn't saying, but instead he said,
"What do you mean, what?"
Klaus narrowed his eyes at his brother, as the right side of his mouth quirked up in an amused grin.
"Kol, come on we both know you're a terrible liar. What aren't you telling me?"
Kol licked his lips contemplatively, before sighing, and pulling out his phone,
"When was the last time you've been on twitter?"
He cocked an eyebrow in confusion, not seeing what that had to do with anything,
"You know I only go on twitter when Elijah makes me, or when I have a new movie out, now come on spill!," he urged, getting frustrated with his brothers' vague comments.
Kol looked at him with what looked like pity, before handing him his phone.
"Fine, let's just say I think Caroline and Tyler are in a little better place in their relationship, than you might have thought…"
Klaus raised an eyebrow in confusion, a nervous but cocky grin present on his face to show his brother he didn't care. His pulse had suddenly quickened, and with questioning eyes, he peered down and inspected the screen of the phone. Right away his smile dropped, and he clenched his hand that wasn't holding the phone in into a fist, trying really hard to fight the urge to punch something. He glanced back up at his brother, who was suddenly very interested in his nail beds, and then back down at the phone to reread what it said.
Open on the phone was the twitter app, already loaded onto Caroline's profile, and the two most recent tweets she had sent which looked like this:
CarolineForbes: I cannot wait until TyLockwood gets home from Georgia, I miss him so much. Love you Tyler ;)
And just above that tweet, was Tyler's reply,
TyLockwood: Miss you too babe, can't wait to see you this weekend, we have lots of lost time to make up for ;)
Klaus looked up with dark squinted eyes, the veins in his arm popping out from how hard he was clenching his fist. He clenched his jaw, and tried to twist his face into a cocky grin, not wanting to let Kol see how much that had gotten to him, but he feared it came out more like a grimace. Kol opened his mouth to say something, when David's voice interrupted him.
"Okay everybody, let's get a move on, time to start shooting this scene!,"
Klaus saw Caroline walk over to David and talk with him, laughing at something the director had said. Ignoring Kol's attempts to speak, Klaus turned around and said,
"I gotta go," then walked over to join them. Caroline wanted to play the loving girlfriend card? Fine. He had a couple of his own cards that he could play.
AN: Okay wow big chapter, we are starting to see Klaus reverting a little back to the smug asshole he used to be, who knows for how long though... What did you guys think of Klaus and Caroline's little showdown in the makeup trailer? Who likes Kol? Personally I enjoy writing his lines immensely! I will try to get the next chapter up next weekend, as I have a lot of tests and assignments due this week. Anyway, let me know what you guys think, please please please review!
