AUTHOR'S NOTE: This has been finished for a long time and I know it's been months since I updated, which is a shame because there was only two chapters left. I plan to finish uploading this as of next week, so I hope you enjoy the ending, well this chapter at least. Once again, this chapter has some smutt.

Falling Out Of Favour

Chapter 14

In unison both Mary and Sebastian turned in obstinate shock to see Francis accompanied by four sturdy guards. Sebastian wondered how their raised voices could have attracted anyone when they were so deep within the darkened wood, but then he realized that he was followed. He had walked past Francis in the castle foyer, prior to his journey here. One thing was for certain in Sebastian's mind, Francis's ability to remain unseen the entire time, worried both he and Mary greatly. As a result his gaze turned to Mary behind him, he watched as the guilt washed over her.

"Francis?" Sebastian's voice called out wearily. "How long have you been situated there?"

"Long enough to acknowledge you have impregnated Mary… to whom I am promised…" Francis replied solemnly. His tenor cold and menacing.

"You are promised to no one. You cut Mary of all ties and she found security elsewhere." Sebastian alleged and upon his deceitful words additional men appeared behind Francis.

"Not your finest choice of words," Mary whispered into his ear from behind. As if being pulled by puppets strings, Sebastian protectively held out his hand in front of Mary.

"Reprimand them for treason against the crown… king and country!" Francis called out in anger. "Strip him of his weapons," he finished out of spite.

Mary was torn. The man she loved was standing before her, protecting her and she was standing there idly. The closer the king's guards travelled towards her in the dark the more her heart rate picked up its rapid pace. She glanced up at Francis, but saw no reflection of humanity. It was the same look that Sebastian had procured after decapitating the pagan. Out of haste she stepped around Sebastian's protective stance.

"Stop!" She bellowed and the king's men halted in front of her. Francis began walking through the trees towards her. "He is your brother!" Her voice cracked, just like her broken heart.

"No brother of mine would betray me," Francis said.

"I have betrayed you!" She retorted. "I am Mary, Queen of Scotland, and you have not yet succeeded to your crown. You have no power against me or my crown."

"Essentially I do," he said, "you are on French soil... betrothed to the French Dauphin… me… you have broken the treaty and he is just a bastard."

"Francis let's not be so hasty," Sebastian began attempting to step around Mary.

"I knew you looked suspicious in the foyer… so I followed you, but never had I imagined that this was the extent of your betrayal. You seek out Pagans, you plot with Pagans, you sleep with Mary and impregnate her with the devils spawn."

"You speak out of ignorance! I saved her!"

"She wouldn't have had to be saved if it wasn't for you!" Francis spat and consequently silencing both Sebastian and Mary. He was right.

Before her rampant mind could wander any further, Sebastian held his hand out in front of her, protecting her from Francis and the oncoming guards. His hand instinctively resting on her belly to hold her back once more. He didn't want them to touch Mary or punish her for what he had done and who he was. He knew it was a possibility, especially if he had heard what was said. Sebastian's eyes flickered graciously to the decapitated head before him and then back up towards Francis.

"I will come voluntarily," he gestured, but Francis didn't falter.

"Both of you will accompany me back to the castle."

"Yes, but don't lay a finger on Mary…" Sebastian demanded and Francis nodded. His eyes never flickering to Mary, his heart and pride too fractured.

"And then what?" Mary asked.

"And then father can put you on trial!" Francis scorned, still not taking his eyes off Sebastian as the guards pushed him forward.

"For what?" Sebastian asked.

"For being pagan!"

"He is not pagan!" Mary screamed.

"Odd you might say that, naught a moment ago you were saying the same."

"Father knows Francis..." Sebastian shuddered as the forest around him fell silent.

"What?" Francis and Mary said in unison, both stepping around Sebastian and the guards to look at him properly.

"That's right, he knows. So what exactly would I be standing on trial for? Falling in love? Saving a Queens life? Mary's life?"

"Fathers mood has been deteriorating lately, have you noticed? Let's try treason against king and country. For losing your king Scotland."

"Scotland? Scotland is not yours to give or his to have. I speak for Scotland! I am Scotland. I am queen and I am not your property to give away as you see fit! I chose Sebastian over you and I know that angers you, but I told you... I told you that you can't have me and Olivia and whichever maiden meets your standards. I will not share the one I am going to spend the rest of my life with and my crown with. So I found comfort in someone else, I loved another and will always love another. No amount of metal bars will keep us apart."

"We'll see about that," Francis finished gesturing for his guards to carry on. Mary silenced herself after her heartache of a monologue. She was too upset to find a source of words.

Back at court, Mary spent the remainder of the day wondering how Sebastian was. When her ladies stopped by to help her dress and prepare for the day, she denied them the privilege and told them she wanted to be alone. She wanted to know that she was assuming the worst of the situation, but there was no one to set her mind at ease. She was also sure that King Henry had set guards outside her door. Reluctantly, she paced the room and even picked up books to read, but to no avail. She simply flipped absent-minded through a few pages and placed the book back down on her table top. Her mind restless, waiting for a flicker of news to pass by her ears, but she knew that Francis would have made a point of the information not reaching her. After all, she was just as guilty as him.

As night came to pass, Mary had had enough of waiting pointlessly. So, she left through the hidden passageway in her room and made her way down to the dungeons. However, upon reaching the exit she could hear a lot of noise on the other side of the door. Metal clanging on metal and voices shouting in the distance, echoing down the dampened hallways. Once the noise had passed she stepped out from behind the passage and left the door open ajar. She then continued to travel down through the dungeon unnoticed, searching the cells for Sebastian, but he wasn't there.

Mary feared the worst, wondering if he had been taken already. Once again she head back to the passageway and resulted in staying put within her rooms. She paced back and forth, her mind unsettling her. She undressed herself, bathed in cold water and got into her bed clothes for the night. Though she was ready, she did not climb into bed. She stood in front of the portrait above her fireplace, a lady lay upon the canvas her hand outstretched as if reaching for something. Mary looked down at herself and placed her palm gently on her stomach. Unaware as to how she could be pregnant, she hadn't missed her monthly bleed. At least not yet. She turned towards her mirror and looked at her reflection. She thoroughly despised it.

"Mary," Sebastian voice sounded relieved.

"Bash?" Her voice broke through the room. Her tenor nothing but a sob. She turned to face him, her hand still resting upon her belly. Sebastian stepped forward, taking her into his warm embrace and Mary caved into him. Her hand gliding up from her stomach to his face and letting her lips plant firmly on his. His mouth enticing her and warming her. His body heat warming her through the linen of her clothes. "What are you doing here? I went to see you, but the dungeons were empty. Men were-"

"I escaped… I-"

"What?" Mary shrieked appalled, pulling away. "Bash are you mad?"

"I had to see you…" he reached out for her again, his hands resting on her shoulders.

"This will be the first place they will look." As if right on queue a broad knock sounded at the door and Mary gave Sebastian a displeased look.

"M'lady-"

"Just a moment," Mary called.

"M'lady, we must come in," the guard pressed.

"I am indisposed, just a moment," she called back whilst picking up her bed robe and wrapping it around herself. "Go… wait in the passageway," she whispered to Sebastian as she clambered towards the main door. The moment her hand rested upon the handle her door burst open from the other side and in stormed Catherine's guards. "What is it you want?" Mary asked whilst lacing up her robe around her waist. The guard looked at her.

"Excuse me m'lady," he nodded pushing past her.

"I was just readying myself for bed…" she gestured around the room. Surely enough the guard looked around the room, witnessing the dirty bath water, her scrunched up dress and the bed clothes she now had on.

"That may be so, but we have been instructed by the king to search your rooms," as he spoke Mary watched as four guards searched every corner of her room. As the guard at the back of the room checked under her bed, her heart skipped. He was so close to the passageway. So close to Sebastian.

"May I enquire as to why?"

"Sorry, I am not inclined to give such information," he finished with a nod of his head and disappearing from the room along with his four men. Mary stood there a few moments longer after the door had clicked shut. In those moments she worried for Sebastian, forgetting that he was in the passageway. She opened the door once more and saw nothing but her two guards situated midway down the hallway. "I am turning in for the night, if there are any more unexpected visits, could you please send in one of my maid's? I do not wish to be indisposed again."

"Yes, your majesty," one of them called politely back to her. She smiled slightly and closed the door again. If there's one thing she noticed being at French Court it was that her Scottish guards were a lot kinder to her than the French.

"Bash," she whispered fleeing to the passageway. The door clicked open from the inside and Sebastian stepped out into her room once more. "They're looking for you," she whimpered in a panic.

"I want you to run with me," he said now lifting his palms to rest on her cheeks. Mary was forced to look nowhere but his eyes.

"I can't Bash," she said and his face grew grave, "I know what that means for you, you'll be punished if you stay, but I can't run… if I do they'll look for me… they will always look for me."

"But you can't birth our child here… you can't live amongst these people. I can't stay Mary, but I can't leave you alone."

"Then you must go," she sobbed, her eyes closing in an attempt to blink away her tears. She told herself to not let her emotions get the better of her.

"I'm not leaving without you," he shot back in angst, his words frightening her.

"Bash… I… you must." Her false start forced a sigh from Sebastian. He pulled her in and wrapped his arms around her.

"I am so sorry," he kissed the hair on top of her head. Mary sighed and pulled away from Sebastian, her body resting on her bed as she climbed to the centre. "What is it?" He asked climbing on top of the bed with her and sitting by her side.

"I know I have to be strong, but I am so broken Bash. I regret nothing, yet I fear I should regret letting myself get into a position where I feel like this." Her words had hurt Sebastian somewhere deep. She watched as her words cut through him like a blade.

"Stay strong…" he let his hand rest tenderly upon her stomach for the first time. "Stay strong for the three of us," he said wondering if it was at all true.

Mary smiled and reached down to let her hand cup Sebastian's head. He looked up at her lying on the bed, her head propped up by her pillows and slowly lifted her robe along with her bed clothes. Mary held her breath feeling a sense of uneasiness and Sebastian gently let his lips press against her belly button. He was so gentle with his act that his stubble tickled her skin. He looked up at her, the longing in her eyes causing him to swim up towards her. Planting his mouth on hers and stroking her cheek with the back of his hand, letting it glide down her neck and over her breasts until it rested upon her waist. Mary hummed in light pleasure, forcing Sebastian's lips to part from hers.

"If this is going to be our last moments… I want to be with you…" Mary said letting her emotions now get the better of her. She pressed her hand over his heart. "All of-"

Before Mary could finish her sentence, Sebastian kissed her again and Mary reacted by wrapping her hands around the back of his neck and kissing him back. She stroked the tender skin on the back of his neck gently with her fingers. As she sat up Sebastian pulled the remainder of her bed clothes over her head and began undressing himself. He noticed that the soft curls in her hair hung elegantly over her breasts, slightly ruffled after being brushed by the removal of her bed shirt. During his whole act, his lips never left hers, except for pulling his remaining garments over his head so that he could lie with her. Once the two were naked, Sebastian let Mary rest back down upon the bed as he began to kiss his way down her body. His hand smoothing down her body and curving around to her inner thigh. Her skin there was so pale, so warm. He parted her legs slightly as his mouth made its way further down.

Mary panted slightly with the electric shock of his enterprising warm tongue touching her below. The tip of his tongue curling through her folds and overlapping her clitoris. His warmth making her thoughts less coherent by the second. Sebastian used his hands to squeeze both of her thighs on either side of his head, massaging her skin tightly within his hands. The sensation was entirely new to Mary. She found herself recoiling further and further up the bed in pleasure. She knew this because Sebastian pulled her back down towards him.

"Sto... stop… oh," she panted along with the intense build up inside of her. She worried about keeping herself quiet and Sebastian's arousal was now evident. As soon as he felt her sticky wetness he used his fingers to slide some of her moisture onto his penis. He pulled his head away to climb back up her body and as he did he guided himself inside her. He smiled as she kissed him, her lips meeting the surface of his teeth. As he pushed further inside her, her mouth parted with his and a strong sigh escaped. She opened her eyes not remembering when she had closed them and forced Sebastian off her and onto his back.

His chuckle frustrated her all the more as she climbed on top of him and let him re-enter her. She shrank over him, falling mercilessly to her pleasure. Her hand forcing his jaw to the side as her teeth nibbled his lobe, her healthy breathing down his ear making him feel painfully erotic. She gasped, slightly high pitched as Sebastian lifted his hips forcefully beneath her. The shaft of his penis travelling deeper than it had before and hitting the spot as the back of her tunnel. She carried on nibbling down his neck and began kissing his chest, her hand still forcing his jaw to the side. She moved back up, Sebastian's hips moving forever back and forth beneath her, kissed his cheek and whispered.

"Do it again," and upon request he chuckled and forced his hips upwards hard. His hand taking hers off his face to watch her reaction. Her inner breath being caught and shaking in pleasure. He turned her over and forcefully crushed her into the bed.

"You tease," he said his voice also shaky as he re-entered her.

"And you delight me," she giggled and his smile met hers. Their lips pursing as they met and then opening to let their tongues explore each other. "Wait," she mumbled through his kisses. Sebastian pulled back and looked into her eyes. "I need you to know… if you leave tomorrow-"

"I told you… I'm not leaving without you."

"I know, I know… but I love you and if I am with child… I am glad it is ours."

"Never let anyone take her from you… never."

"Her?"

"I can hope… I love you," Sebastian finished kissing her lips and then kissing his way back down her body. Mary lay under the heat of his body fully enveloped by him and his actions.

The following morning Mary awoke to the sound of Francis forcefully knocking and his voice at her door. She turned to see an empty space beside her in the bed and felt a cold sweat of panic build in her throat. It was then that her brain comprehended what Francis was saying. She had been called down to the hall immediately. Mary wandered as to why Francis was accompanying her down to the hall. She noticed there were several other accompanying her, but no servants. Her ladies were already there upon arrival and so was someone else. Sebastian. Two guards were holding him down on his knees before the king. Mary felt her heart scream out to him. His head twitching towards her as she entered and took her place next to Francis, his face pained and solemn. Once the last of King Henry's guards had took their position by the hall doors he started.

"You are here to recompense for your crimes. Gossip reached my ear today that you have impregnated Mary, Queen of Scotland." King Henry's voice bounced through the room, causing those who were present to look at Mary, but her vision was taken elsewhere. Francis had not been the one to tell the king. "You sought out pagan's, put Mary's life at risk and then lost your country… France, Scotland!"

"Was it not my crime too?" Mary demanded stepping forward. Henry's angered eyes turning to her. Francis reached out to silence her, but missed.

"You are queen of Scotland, I am king of France. My son is under my rule and I am his king."

"You are his father!"

"Then his father sentences him to death for treason against his crown and country!"

"What?" Catherine, Francis, Diane and Mary sounded together. Mary's ladies gasped and Lola began to step forward.

"No," Sebastian gasped.

"No!" Mary echoed in reflected pain.

"You were going to title him! Let me wed your son, titled or untitled. I beseech you-"

"He is no son of mine," he growled.

"Then don't title him, let him travel back to Scotland with me!"

"Don't beg Mary, it doesn't become of a Queen!" Henry yelled.

"Father, another punishment?" Francis pleaded. Though he knew that he'd lost the girl he loved, he could not sentence his brother to this fate. "Let him flee! Let him survive! Let him live!" He corrected himself multiple times. "He is your son and my brother! Father, don't do this."

"Don't be a fool, Henry," Catherine spat down King Henry's ear, "The boy has done no more than you in your day!"

"If you speak again, you will partake the same retribution!" He growled and Catherine silenced herself immediately.

"You are to be taken to the dungeons, in which you will spend your final night and at morning light… face execution," Mary screamed in pain as she saw the conviction in King Henry's eyes. He was unchallenged. Sebastian turned his head as much as he could, before the guards pulled forcefully on his arms. He caught a glimpse of her distraught visage. She approached him, but guards held her back.

"I'm sorry Sebastian," she cried, "I am so sorry." Her pleas fractured his soul. "What I said yesterday, I didn't mean a word. I'd happily accept my fate… as I accept you," tears streamed down her face and Francis began to approach her.

"Time brought you to me… and time will bring you back… in this life or the next. Don't be afraid… I love you," he said weakly for the first time and she fell back. "Be brave…" he said as the guards pulled him off towards the dungeons "and forgive me."

"I love you," she cried as she watched him disappear.
