Document 6: Alyssandra Bellerose

Alyssandra's body was limp on the ground, unmoving like a stone. Her short, black hair was covering some of her face and her clothes were dirtied from the fall. If one looked at her, they would not see any immediate injuries, since she was not being surrounded by a pool of her own blood. However, she was also not moving, so someone might accidently mistake her for being dead. Her mind was racing with thoughts, even though none of this showed on her face. She was thinking back to the night before, where she had spent the night resting from her latest performance.

Another performance done, but another one will seek me out in no time. Alyssandra thought to herself as she made her way to her hotel from the small club. People on the streets were cheering and calling her name, but not even this could bring a smile onto her features. The best that she could do was wave to them and smile with only her lips and not show any teeth. She could hear people screaming and cheering, some of them wanting to get her autograph. She would do so to make them happy, signing her name in cursive and leaving a small drawing of a heart at the end of her name. It was something that she did on a regular basis, when it wasn't paperwork or the bills. She then walked away, leaving those people behind as she walked through the glass doors of the hotel. The people that worked there walked around her as she made her way to her room, which was conveniently on the first floor and not on any floor higher. She was definitely not in the mood for climbing stairs, since her legs hurt from earlier in the day when she spent too much time working out on the treadmill. She felt pain in her legs as she continued to make her way down the corridor to her room.

She finally made it after a minute of painful walking and unlocked the door to let herself in. She pushed the door open and stepped inside, shutting it behind her so no one would follow her. She made her way over to the queen-sized bed in the middle of the room and fell onto it, not even bothering to take off her black leather jacket or her knee-high boots. She let out a tired sigh as she stared up at the ceiling. How many hours had passed since the show started? She remembered getting there at 7:32 and her performance was at eight o'clock, which wasn't that much time to prepare. The guy running the club yelled at her for being late, but still let her perform when it was time to get up onto the stage. She sang a few songs, which the audience seemed to really like. After she was done, she walked backstage and listened to the other performers do their thing on the stage, which was highly unusual for her, since she would normally leave before the next act started. Then again, she didn't have much to do that night, so she decided to stick it out and listen to the others perform.

She closed her eyes as the last images of the day ran through her mind. Her expression went from somewhat happy to just plain tired and exhausted. Even though the life of a musician had its thrills and good moments, it also had its tiring and horrible moments. She did not want anything more to do with this day or with anyone else. If she saw another person, she swore that she would go crazy and run out of the hotel faster than the roadrunner in Looney Tunes. Heh! Run faster than the roadrunner. Now that sounds utterly ridiculous to me! Then again, I'm not really in the mood for seeing anyone else today. This day has been filled with errands to run and people to meet. Ugh! I really don't want to get up right now. She turned onto her side, now facing the wall opposite of the window, and gripped the sheets underneath her somewhat. She sighed once, letting some of her stress go in it. She felt herself drifting off, but instead of fighting it before she lost to sleep, she simply let herself succumb this time. She worked super hard this month and deserved some well-needed rest.

At one point during her sleep, she felt like she was dropping out from the sky, but even this feeling failed to wake her up. She could feel the sensation of the wind blowing past her and going through her hair, turning the strands into little whip-like weapons that were barely even touching her skin. She wondered, for a single moment, what was going on around her, but her eyes did not want to open to let her see what was going on. This annoyed her somewhat, but she was not willing to scold herself for doing such a thing. She was just too damn tired to even care about it at this point. She felt something strange and new to her all of the sudden; it felt like she had been jerked straight back up and was now floating down to the ground like a feather or a leaf. She was silently thinking about what was going on, but her mind was not coming up with suggestions like it would have been if she were awake. She then felt her body hit the ground gently, like a mother placing her newborn in their crib for the night…

Her eyes shot open, revealing dark gray irises. She pushed herself off the ground and dusted herself off, noticing that there was a surprising amount of dirt on her clothes despite what she experienced in her dream. Was all that she went through just a dream, or did it actually happen? She found herself struggling to find an answer to this bizarre question. She slowly stood up, surveying her surroundings with a careful eye. She did not want to be attacked by some crazy people that thought she was a spy or something due to how she was dressed at that particular moment. She began taking steps forward at a pace that would have surely disappointed the roadrunner, but she was doing this all for a good reason.

As she walked, she noticed that there was nothing that she recognized as the town she had been staying in to perform at the night club, which scared her a bit. She shoved her hands into the pockets of her jacket, trying to appear as normal as possible in this strange new land she had found herself in.

"Damn, where are all the people? I know I like being alone, but I'm used to seeing at least one other person than myself whenever I take a walk. What the hell is going on here?" She did not expect anyone to be listening to her, since she believed that she was all alone in this world. She had to find someone to talk to so she could know more about where she was. She knew that she liked having some information about a new place so she could have a general idea as to what she was going to be in for, but she did not have that comfort this time. She would have to find out on her own, and she was determined to find out where she was, but she was not willing to die simply for that, now was she? She needed to find water, something that was vital to every human on the planet. One can survive for about three weeks without a single bite of food, but can only last about three days without water before the drop dead. She ran this through her head several times to remind herself of it. She had to find a source of water that was not salty or murky so she could keep herself hydrated.

She had been walking for some time and had not been successful of finding anything but more unfamiliar things to bombard her poor little mind with. Her legs, normally used to walking long distances, were now hurting a lot and she knew that she would have to find a place to rest if she wanted any hope of surviving. However, where was shelter when you needed it?! She could hide up in one of the many trees she kept finding, but that probably would not be such a good idea if there was a thunderstorm on the way. And she was definitely not willing to hide underneath a rock for protection, since she was not that skinny or flat for that matter. She shivered at the thought of being crushed by a large boulder. No thanks. I'll take my chances walking further, thank you very much. She sighed loudly in irritation at the thought of walking further into this land she did not know, but she was a lot better off than underneath a rock or up in a treetop.

She was getting sick and tired of walking, but her wish of stopping to take a rest was to be granted unexpectedly when she slammed into something. She backed up and covered her nose, which she was pretty sure that she had broken with that sudden impact. She was somewhat surprised when she did not scream out in pain. Am I getting more tolerant to pain, or am I oblivious to it? Either way, I'm grateful in a way. I don't have to be attacked by freaky-ass people who want to kill me or rob me of anything of value if they heard me slam into the thing I just hit. Then again, I'm always thankful of that, so that is nothing new. She backed up a bit more and was shocked by what the hell she had walked into; a huge building that looked as if it belonged to someone powerful. She debated with herself on whether or not she should go in and try to find somebody to talk to. She decided after several minutes that she should go in and investigate the place to see what information she could gather. She went around to the front of the building quickly, wanting to get this mission done and over with, and walked up the steps leading to the door. She, being polite, knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer the door. When nothing happened, she knocked on the door again, this time a bit harder, and spoke up,

"Hello? Anyone in there?" Nothing. Not a darn sound to be heard. She bit her lip and was about to curse when she heard something that sounded like footsteps coming from the other side of the door. She leaned up against the door, pressing her ear to it and listening for that familiar sound. It was real, from what she could tell, and it kept getting louder and louder. She had backed only a couple steps when she saw the door open inward and someone step out of the building. It was a woman, from their body shape, and that they had light brown hair that went down to about a third of the way on her back. Finally, someone I can talk to! Maybe she can give me some information on where I am! She was delighted at the prospect of talking to someone after hours of being alone. Apparently, she was somewhat desperate to talk to someone, even though that the person standing in front of her was a complete stranger. The woman had noticed the expression on Alyssandra's face because she asked her something,

"Do you have business here?" Okay, that was not what I was expecting, but I did come all the way out here to find something out. Guess I'll just have to play along… She thought about what she should say, choosing her words carefully as to not offend the person in any way. After a minute or so, she came up with her response,

"Well, you see, I have come here to learn about where I am. I know this may sound strange, but I simply don't know where I am and I need to talk to someone that has a vast amount of knowledge of this place." The woman seemed somewhat surprised by her response and made sure that the confusion showed on her face.

"How do you not know where you are?"

"That is a bit difficult to explain," Alyssandra started. "I'm a traveler, going from place to place and never staying in one area for very long. I have traveled a lot during my years and sometimes I do not know where I am."

"Hmm…I see. Well, come in, please. Make yourself comfortable." The woman stepped aside and invited Alyssandra in. She thanked the woman before walking into the place and was stunned by what she saw. Now I feel like I'm way out of my league talking to this person. Damn! I did not expect this at all! I'm going to have to remember this place for sure! She heard the door close behind her a few seconds later and footsteps approach and pass her. She followed the woman to wherever she wished to lead her and was soon seated at a medium-sized table with the woman sitting across from her. Alyssandra did not wish to start a conversation. Sometimes, she was not the best at that sort of thing, even though she was a well-known musician in her hometown and the other towns she had visited during her career. The woman interrupted her from her thoughts with a question that was very familiar to her,

"May I inquire as to what your name is?"

"Alyssandra Bellerose, ma'am."

"A…Alyssandra? That is not a name I've heard of before."

"You can call me Ali or Belle, if you wish and if it makes it easier for you. Whatever works for you."

"Alright. I am Zhang Chunhua." Alyssandra was now the one that was bewildered. What kind of name is that? It doesn't sound like anything I've heard before. That is certainly going to take a while to learn how to say properly. She hid her bewilderment with a calm expression and waited for the woman to say something else. When that didn't happen, Alyssandra decided to start up conversation again,

"May I ask as to where I am?"

"You are in the northern part of China."

"China? Heh, I've always talked about how much I wanted to visit other places, but never here. I am not implying that I don't want to be here because it's something that I've dreamed about since I was a kid. What I mean is that I did not expect to be in this country so soon in my life."

"So soon? What do you mean?"

"Well, I'm only twenty-one years old and I expected to visit another country when I'm older, like say when I was thirty or so years old. I simply wasn't ready for this."

"Oh. Do you know how to get back home?"

"….No….and I am not so keen on going back home anytime soon. Too many bad memories in that town."

"I see. I apologize for my question."

"No, no, it's alright. I just didn't expect it, is all. By the way, does this place belong to just you or do other people live here as well?"

"I live here with my husband and two children."

"Is it okay if I ask what their names are?"

"My husband is Sima Yi and my two children are Sima Shi and Sima Zhao."

"Do you get along with your husband?"

"Most of the time, yes. However, sometimes he tends to be a bit…arrogant."

"You don't seem that afraid of saying something like that about him."

"Well, sometimes he needs a reminder of who he's dealing with."

"Oh…" Now various scenarios were running through Alyssandra's mind like racecars on a racetrack and she didn't know how to make that stop. She did not want to ask about something like that. Something told her she didn't want to know what happened between husband and wife whenever that situation appeared…

Six of six individuals have been introduced! I'll admit, this chapter was a bit hard for me to write, with personal and family issues going on at the time.

Now that they have all been introduced, the story will move onward! Be on the lookout for the next chapter!
