First of all let me apologise profusely for failing to update this story and secondly for posting this update in a 'new chapter' but in the unforgivably long time I've been away I've had some time to improve, think, and though this premise is not lost there are plenty of errors that need to be rectified that I can't do by sticking stubbornly to this story, so I'm putting it on permanent hiatus.
It's not lost however, I am going to reboot it. Essentially: re-characterise mercer more faithfully and write the avengers team more canon compliant, bereft of any fan boy superfluousness or pointless cameos and OCs.
A fellow fanfic writer once told me not to delete my failures, so that people can see how I improve but also to help remember that I make mistakes in the first place in honour of that advice I'm going to leave this grounded iteration of the story onsite.
