Chapter 7 Catch Up
In the Kingdom of Haven sat a large tower. There, the king sat on his throne, listening to one of his officials giving him an update about the repairs on the skylark, the ship that crashed into the clockworks 20 years ago, was improving.
The Spiral King watched his official, as his words become slurs and obscure. The official shifted on his feet and cleared his throat,
"Er…. My lord? I have s-some other news…. on the rebel group"
Suddenly, the King jerked and whipped his head up. "What about the rebels!? Have any more knights been found guilty of treason?" The king queried in a bitter tone.
The official nodded slightly as he took out a document and began to read from it.
"From our reports, we believe that the rebel group is growing in members, we know this information as we managed to apprehend a member" The official paused, "She told us they are gaining numbers and will strike when we least expect it"
The King huffed and let out a manic laugh. "Honestly, do they think they can surprise me?" The King sat up from his thrown and moved towards the large window overlooking most of Haven.
"They have denied me a utopia, those fools!" The King punched the window, "Those scum are not fit for my perfect city, and they must be destroyed…they are a virus in my Kingdom, you hear?" He quickly turned to face the official and shot him a glare. "You find these remaining rebels and dispose of them and if you fail, it'll be your funeral!" The King spat.
The official hastily nodded as he scurried out of the throne room.
The King turned away to face the city and placed a hand upon the glass window. He gritted his teeth. "I will not be denied of what is rightfully mine" His words echoed.
Kez-Kez sat at the bar stool, sipping her drink occasionally. Her eyes stayed glued to the wooden surface. Nin-Nin looked over her once, then twice. "What's eating you up?" She asked as she walked over to her behind the counter, cleaning some glasses in the meantime. Kez looked up to meet her eyes and sighed loudly.
"We got dragged along to the village by Min, I really don't know what made her decide to go there…" Kez looked down again as she traced the rim of the glass with her finger.
Nin looked at her, expressionless. "Well, maybe she just wanted to visit, I dunno" Nin said flatly.
Kez kept her eyes on the glass and refused to look up. Nin sighed and returned to stacking her bottles.
An uneasy silence hovered above them. Suddenly, footsteps could be heard entering the bar. Kez looked up eagerly, presenting a worried expression towards the intruder, but her expression quickly fell, as it was Buildersith entering.
"Hey Kez, Nin" He waved to the two as he pulled up a stool next to Kez. "Is Min back yet?" Builder pondered. Kez looked at him with a slight twitch to the corner of her eye.
"What?" Buildersith said as he moved back a little.
"Ugh never mind…and no I haven't seen her" Kez replied, with an angered tone attached.
Kez put both hands on the side of the table and pushed herself up as she walked out of the bar, leaving behind a puzzled Buildersith. Upon exiting the bar, Kez spotted a familiar coloured armor sitting on the top of the Bazaar steps. Kez made her way over to her, stopped multiple times to let other Knights rush past eager for Alchemy Machines or merchants. Kez approached the familiar coloured Knight and lightly spoke out to them.
"Min? Is that you?"
" 'Cause its me, you idiot" She turned to face her with a large grin. Kez let out a sigh of relief as she sat down next Min.
The pair just sits next to each other, a calming silence surrounding them like a blanket. Kez took in a deep breath as she closes her eyes; fingers tapping the ground beside her.
"I… Min… I need to ask you something," She admits.
Bright blue eyes drag up from the floor to stare up at the purple knight; only slightly intrigued about her friend's question.
"I must know; why did you bring us there?" Kez-Kez asks, "I mean, our mission was over, but still we could have made it back with no problem."
Min-Min blinks slowly at her question; memories flooding back in an instant. Oh the touchy subject of that place; the heartache, the pain, the suffering that this place burned into her soul.
Taking in a deep breath, the leader goes to answer,
"MIN-MIN! KEZ-KEZ!" A voice rang out.
The duo jumped up and turned to the source of yelling; it as Builder. Kez looks at Min,
"We'll talk later, okay?"
Min nods.
"It's… It's the bar…" Builder panted as he got close, "this gang… it just barged in… demanding money and ,"
"And you just left your post?" Kez snaps,
"Not that it's that I got you because you can help and, and Nin needs you-"
"Nin?" Min gasps, "You mean she's in danger?!"
In an instant, the bright blue knight pulled out her trusted gun and sprinted back to Nin's place; closely followed by a disgruntled Kez-Kez and Builder.
The trio forced themselves into Nin's place, and too their surprise, everything seemed normal. Nin was behind the bar, serving drinks and the occasional meal, and the punters seemed happy. Kez and Min exchanged a look of bafflement before turning to glare at Builder.
"Care to explain rookie?" Min asks, shoving her gun into the young knights face.
"I swear they were threatening Nin!" He tries to explain, eyes crossed as he started at the weapon.
"Mh, I feel so threatened," Kez says sarcastically, "everyone seems fine so, let's just try and relax; you're clearly getting paranoid Builder."
"But…they…" The boy mumbles, but relaxes his shoulders as
Min drops her gun from his face.
"They aint no threat," The blue knight sighs, heading to the bar counter.
Kez rolls her eyes before joining her friend. Builder scratches his head; they came in here, guns blazing, yelling about the king, but now everyone was happy and getting along… just what was going on?
Something's not right here….
