The girl tried to open her eyes but they were heavy with sleep. She moved her body and realised she was draped over the back of a horse, her hands and feet were bond together and also her body was tied to the horse so she wouldn't fall off. Finally, her tired eyes opened and then squinted at the bright sun; they weren't in the forest no longer but out in the open so the sun was directly on them.
She looked around her and saw the pack of Wolves she'd met earlier in the woods, surrounding her and also, accompanying them were centaurs too but also, humans on horses not half horses. They were surrounding her as if she was dangerous, and the girl then thought back to the forest and smiled to herself, she was actually quite good, she hadn't known she could fight that well, possibly because she couldn't remember anything really.
Finally, they arrived outside a large castle, palace type place. It was absolutely magnificent, placed in front of the Eastern Sea, with tall white marble like walls and towers; the Narnian flag blowing in the wind on top of a watch tower.
"It's amazing isn't it?" A Wolf asked. He'd noticed she was awake and that she was staring at the castle.
"Where are we?" The girl, Ryder, asked.
"Well, Cair Paravel of course!"
"But I don't want to be here!" Ryder said panicked. She started to struggle against the ropes, trying to wriggle out of them but they were tied too tight for her to escape.
"We have to report back to the High King and bring you along, it's our orders." The Wolf replied casually, not worried that the girl was trying to break free. "And there is no use struggling, you won't get out of those knots."
Ryder stopped struggling and went limp over the horse's body. The mention of the High King had once again triggered a memory or the same memory as before but more detailed and not as foggy. The man was still unknown but what he was saying became clearer.
"You must get into Cair Paravel and you must kill the King and the other one." The man said and it continued. "Leave the two Queens, you may have to defend yourself against the one but leave them to the knights, we don't want them killed or harmed, the oldest would be a nice Queen for me and the youngest for my son."
The girl blinked trying to will the memory back out of her mind. "I can't go there, I can't meet the High King, and you can't make me."
"Well, it seems I can, seeming as you're tightly tied up." The Wolf grinned at the girl.
Once again, she struggled against the ropes but was no use. The Wolf spoke the truth; she wasn't getting out of those knots unless they were cut.
Finally, they were inside, in a large throne room with four tall, beautiful thrones at the far end of the room, seated on two of them were two men. They both stood up and approached the girl and her guards. The taller of the two was handsome with blonde hair and striking blue eyes and a charming face, the other was very different; her had jet black hair that fell across his eyes and dark onyx eyes but what made them not so black was the brown that flashed in his eyes when the light caught them and unlike his brother he had a unwelcoming moody face but still quite handsome.
The girl was forced forward; luckily they had untied her legs, so she was capable of walking on her own. The two Kings looked at her, puzzled by her appearance and the fact she was tied up.
"Is it necessary to keep her hands tied?" The taller King asked.
The leader of the pack, she guessed as there were no other Wolves, walked forward and bowed, as did everyone else except the girl. "Bow girl!" someone hissed in her ear and she was forced down to bow but she kept eye contact with the other, darker King who was looking at her suspiciously.
"It is necessary sire." The Wolf answered. "She gave us some difficulty in the woods, seemed reluctant to come here to Cair Paravel. She is also a…umm…a Telmarine."
"A Telmarine girl gave you trouble? You must be having us on Lycuson [1]." The younger King said.
The girl suddenly hissed. "I could rip your throat out with my bare hands if I had the chance." The girl didn't know where the sudden outburst had come from but it had made an impacted on the Kings and guards. Suddenly, two knights were in front of the two Kings with their swords drawn.
The younger King pushed the knights out of his way and looked at the girl, he too had drawn his sword but he smiled at the girl. "She seems to have a bad temper."
"Not unlike yourself." She spat back.
The young King was getting her riled up and angry; she felt the only thing stopping her from lashing out was the ties of her wrist, bonding her hands together. Then she thought to herself, her hands were in front so she could easily break free on one of the drawn swords but they were all lowered so she'd have to cause a scene.
Then, two women entered the room. They both had long brown hair but one had a younger, sweeter face and blue eyes and was much smaller, where as the other had a mature, gentle face with brown eyes.
"What is this Peter?" The oldest Queen asked.
"They found her in the forest, lost apparently." The older King answered.
"Buy why is she tied up?" The youngest Queen exclaimed. "Peter, untie her at once that is no way to treat a girl."
King Peter hesitated to answer but he didn't need to say anything as the younger King said. "This one seems to have a bad attitude; she gave our Wolves some difficulty."
"Looks like that's one thing we have in common." The girl said. And then head butted the knight standing in front of her and then kicked the other using her free leg, he toppled back into two guards, the one Wolf attacked her but she kicked him hard in the muzzle. Finally, people hand drawn their swords and were swinging them at the girl, she had to duck and dive as so many came at her at once.
"Don't harm her." A voice shouted but no one seemed to take notice of the young Queens plea.
The girl spun around and came face to face with the young King, he raised his sword and she raised her hands and the sword came down on the ropes cutting her free then she kicked the King back and he fell skidding to the ground, she grabbed his dropped sword and gently cut a line across his cheek, as a souvenir.
Now she had use of her hands, she was able to fight properly; grabbing a guard she caused him to collide with another and then she kicked King Peter's sword from his hands and punched him hard in the stomach so he too like his brother fell back onto the thrones floor.
She took one swift look around the throne room and noticed that the windows didn't actually have glass. But the nearest window was being blocked by the two terrified Queens. She made one swift move to knock a guard aside punching him in the abdomen and ran towards the window, the one Queen screamed and the oldest Queen pulled her to the ground thankfully and the young girl jumped over the two of them and out of the window.
And then the youngest Queen let out a piercing scream.
Authors end notes:[1] Lycuson is a mashed up name, Lycus in Greek Mythology means wolf and Jason in Greek means leader, hence Lycuson meaning Wolf leader because the Wolf is the leader of the wolves.
