Chapter 14: The Cornered
Everything was going smoothly. It wasn't until Loki found himself cornered by Tony at his locker that he knew something was wrong. Emerald eyes blinked as brown eyes looked into them. A sigh escaped Loki's thin lips.
"Everything alright?" he asked in a hushed tone.
"Of course not," Tony said as calmly as he could.
Loki pursed his lips together. He chewed on his bottom lip when Tony took him to the school's library. The two teens sat in the corner of the quiet room. The dark haired boy pulled his legs up to his chest.
"The police came to the hospital I took you to. I was there with my father," Tony whispered.
"I told them to go there because of the DNA they have," Loki whispered back harshly. "They're going to charge Fandral and they have to have evidence."
Loki wrapped his arms around his legs. He rested his chin on one of his knees. Brown eyes met emerald eyes once again. They listened to the school bell ring. Neither one made a move to get out of the library.
"You're really going through with this aren't you?" Tony questioned in a whisper.
"I am," Loki whispered back as he looked away from his friend.
The dark haired jumped slightly when a hand found its way onto his shoulder. Emerald eyes looked at Tony quietly. A warm and gentle smile was on the genius's face.
"I got to, um, get you back to your boyfriend," Tony whispered before they both stood up.
As they walked out of the library, Loki said, "I wouldn't consider Steve that."
"Consider me what?" Steve asked as he walked up to the two of them.
"Nothing," Loki mumbled under his breath.
Tony smiled before saying, "I'll talk to you later Lokster."
The richer of the three patted Loki on the back gently before walking away. The raven haired teen began to head back to his locker. Steve followed him, letting the silence settle between the two of them. Loki fiddled with the lock on his locker, trying to get it off.
"Let me help you," Steve said after a minute or two.
A grunt escaped his companions lips. Steve moved a hand to touch Loki's quietly. This sudden touch cause Loki to pull his hand away quickly. A red tint filled his pale cheeks. The blond looked at him quietly.
"Something the matter?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm not used to this. Any of this from another man," Loki finally managed.
A sigh escaped Steve's mouth. He hadn't been expecting any of this from Loki. In the back of his mind, sure, he had expected some difficulties given the circumstances. He let go of the lock. He faced Loki, trying to make him look at him.
"I'm sure you're not, but I'm not going to hurt you like he did," he said, touching Loki's shoulder.
Emerald eyes looked into blue eyes. The red tint didn't seem like it would go away anytime soon. Loki grabbed the lock again, finally managing to get it off of his locker. The smaller teen pulled his bag out. He turned to face Steve again.
"Let's go," he muttered as he slung his bag onto his shoulder.
Steve grabbed on of Loki's hands. The two teenagers headed out of the school. Silence filled the air around them. Emerald eyes looked at the ground quietly. After a few minutes, he looked up at the other teenager.
"Why'd you pick me out of all the people at that party?" he asked quietly.
"You seemed to be the loneliest of all of them there," Steve said with a shrug.
Blue eyes met with emerald eyes. A small smile appeared on Steve's face before silence fell upon them again.
