Now on with the story

Charlotte and Blaise silently watched as the platform went further and further into the distance, they watched until it finally disappeared from view. They glanced at the two boys sharing the compartment with them to see they had struck up a conversation and were talking enthusiastically.

They noticed Charlotte and Blaise looking over at them, "Are you first years too?" the one boy asked them, he was quite well spoken.

Charlotte and Blaise nodded yes at the boy in answer, "I'm Ernie MacMillan, and this is Seamus Finnegan, we are both first year as well." he continued. Seamus waved at Charlotte and Blaise smiling.

"I'm Blaise Zabini and this is Charlotte Flume," Blaise replied. Ernie nodded his head before a look of realisation came upon his face.

"Oh yes, I believe we met once before at one of the Malfoys dinner parties, you both came with Blaise's mother," Ernie replied "You both sat either side of Draco Malfoy at the dinner, I was seated next Pansy Parkinson."

Charlotte and Blaise looked at each other, they couldn't remember the boy but it seemed likely that his recollection of the event was true, as the only dinner they went to where the Parkinson's were present was a dinner the Malfoys had set up for the families of purebloods who were not blood traitors and had children joining the school as first years the same time as their soon. The both of them nodded at Ernie in reply, not trusting themselves to speak just in case he asked them questions about the event, because they really hadn't paid any attention.

"Ah so I guess I'm the only half-blood in here then?" Seamus spoke up. Charlotte and Blaise quickly glanced at each other before nodding in agreement with him. Giving away Charlottes heritage to complete strangers who may not even be sorted into the same house as them was ay to much of a risk.

The four fell into a deep conversation, with Charlotte and Blaise being very guarded towards their lives as they really did know the other two well enough to trust them. The conversation continued until the food cart witch came into their view. Seamus quickly got up and bought two boxes of jelly slugs and six sugar quills, Ernie followed him back into the compartment with two pumpkin pasties. "Are you two not getting anything?" Seamus asked once he had sat back down next to Charlotte.

Blaise and Charlotte shook their heads no, Blaise pulled out a bar of Honeydukes white chocolate from his pocket whilst Charlotte popped at blood flavoured lollipop in her mouth. Ernie looked at Charlotte, "Is that a blood flavoured lollipop?" he asked her warily.

Charlotte looked at him and pulled the lollipop out of her mouth, "Yes it is why?" she asked him. As she watched Ernie waiting for his reply she noticed his face taking on a green tinge, she smirked amused at his reaction.

Ernie stood up looking flustered and grabbed his robes out of his trunk, "I'm going to get changed and then see if I can meet any other first years," he said hurriedly before rushing out of the compartment.

Seamus, Blaise and Charlotte watched him go all slightly amused by his flustered expression. Seamus turned in his seat to look at Charlotte next to him, "What's his problem?" he asked. Charlotte looked at Seamus and shrugged in reply. "Anyway those lollipops I've always wanted to know, do they really taste like blood, me mam won't let me try one you see." Seamus continued.

Blaise smirked and looked at Seamus, "That was one of the first things I asked her as well when we were six," he said, "She says they do," Blaise said replying to Seamus' question.

Seamus nodded in at Blaise, "So you two have known each other since you were six? I wish I knew someone in our year and of wizarding kind, where we live on Ireland, there aren't that many wizard families around," he said.

Charlotte looked at Seamus and nodded, "Yeah, we've known each other for ages." she said before looking at her trunk in thought, "Hey Seamus could you go sit by Blaise a minute so I can get out of the compartment and go get changed?" she asked him.

Seamus nodded before moving to sit next to Blaise. "Hey Charlotte, see if you can find Ernie on your way and freak him out a bit more," Blaise said as Charlotte was about to leave the compartment with a smirk on his face. Charlotte turned and looked at Blaise before smirking at him and nodding in agreement.

Once Charlotte was back, Seamus and Blaise went to change, and before long the train started slowing down before coming to a halt outside Hogsmede station. Charlotte, Blaise and Seamus looked at each other nervously before leaving the train and making their way over to the large man shouting for the first years.
