Charlotte and Blaise had lost sight of Seamus as the large group of first years followed the giant man they now knew was called Hagrid, they both walked in silence following behind Draco Malfoy and what they assumed were some other purebloods as Draco was talking to them quietly, the first years near the front let out a loud sound of amazement as Hogwarts came into view, Charlotte and Blaise looked at each other and rolled their eyes, whilst they heard Draco mutter a snide comment about commoners and mudbloods in front of them.
Hagrid told them all to get into groups of four and get into boats to travel across the expanse of water in front of them to get to the castle, Charlotte and Blaise stepped into a boat which already contained Pansy Parkinson and another pureblood they failed to remember the name of. Soon before they knew it the boats had set off towards Hogwarts, they nodded as Pansy spoke to them and the other girl in their boat who they now knew was Millicent Bulstrode.
Soon they were out of the boats and were approaching the doors which would grant them access into Hogwarts, Charlotte and Blaise looked at each other and smirked as those around them laughed at the plump faced boy and his toad. The first years stopped suddenly and Charlotte bumped into the back of the person in front of her, the boy turned around and gave her a small smile before turning back to watch as Hagrid knocked loudly of the grand doors.
Blaise looked at Charlotte, "You know him?" he asked whispering nodding his head toward the boy in front of them. Charlotte looked at Blaise and shook her head no before pointedly looking towards the doors, Blaise follow her example and looked also, soon enough the doors opened and a stern looking witch named Professor McGonagall, told the first years to follow her and to wait in the entrance hall for the sorting ceremony, once she left nervous mutters broke out around them.
Blaise nudged Charlotte in the side as Draco walked over to them with two boys, "Charlotte, Blaise a pleasure as always, you remember Crabbe and Goyle," he said indicating to the two boys which stood either side of him. Blaise and Charlotte nodded yes to Draco, and quickly moved out of the way as Pansy Parkinson came up behind Draco and hugged him forcefully from behind, Millicent stood by her side silently.
Draco removed himself from Pansy's grasp and nodded in greeting to Millicent, before looking at them and shaking his head slightly a look of anger clouded his eyes, "You know who I met on the train, Harry Potter, I offered him the right kind of friendship and he, now this is the most disgusting part of all just to warn you, he refuse in favour of a Weasley, can you believe it!" he said to the group. Crabbe and Goyle cracked their knuckles and growled in disgust, whilst Pansy and Millicent shook their heads in disgust, Charlotte and Blaise looked at each other and grimaced. Draco surveyed the reactions he had got and nodded in approval, as he was about to speak again when Professor McGonagall returned and ushered them all into the great hall.
Blaise and Charlotte looked up at the ceiling as they entered the great hall, watching as a few of the stars on the enchanted ceiling twinkled and the candles swung slightly as if they were caught in a slight breeze. Soon all the first years had gathered at the front of the great hall, Charlotte found herself next to Seamus he looked at her and smiled brightly, "Your surname begins with F as well then eh?" he asked her.
Charlotte looked at Seamus and smiled back, "Yeah, where did you go anyway, we lost you when all the first years gathered to get on them boats," she asked him.
As he was about to answer Professor McGonagall placed a tattered old hat on a stool and the great hall fell silent all eyes staring at the hat, Charlotte felt Seamus jump next to her as the hat began singing a song, once it had stopped Charlotte looked at Seamus and smirked, "Made you jump a bit that didn't it?" she asked him amused as the first few first years went up to get sorted.
Seamus looked at Charlotte and smiled sheepishly before shrugging, "What can I say, most hats don't tend to tell you stories about Hogwarts houses let alone sing them to you," he said grinning. Charlotte looked at him and shrugged her shoulders at him grinning back.
The line of students in front of Charlotte was quickly vanishing as they were sorted into houses, soon enough it was Seamus's turn, he turned and gave Charlotte a wink before walking over to the stool and sitting down, the hat soon shouted out Gryffindor and Seamus made his way over to that table, Charlotte gave a small smile at his retreating back as she made her way to the stool, she sat down and crossed her legs before placing the hat on her head, she sat silently as the hat spoke inside her head, it was rather too excited about the fact she was half vampire in her opinion, as the hat made its decision she gave it one last thought telling it that better put Blaise in the same house as her, the hat ignored her as it screamed out Slytherin. Charlotte got up and walked slowly over to her new house table taking the seat opposite Millicent Bulstrode who was seated next to Crabbe, she nodded at them in greeting before the older student next to her introduced himself as Adrian Pucey a member of the Slytherin quidditch team, she introduced herself and made small talk with him as the sorting continued, soon Goyle had joined them at the table, Charlotte nodded at him as he sat down next to Crabbe.
Draco Malfoy made his presence known as he sat down at the table; Charlotte looked at him as he sat next to her, many of the older Slytherins giving greetings of respect to the newest member of Slytherin. The sorting continued onwards, Draco let out a sigh of relief when Pansy Parkinson commanded Crabbe and Goyle to move down the table so she could sit next to Millicent, and many Slytherins muttering curses under their breaths when Harry Potter was called up to be sorted, finally Blaise was sorted into Slytherin ending the ceremony, Charlotte smiled at him as he walked towards their table confidently, Draco moved across as Blaise go to the table allowing him to sit next to Charlotte.
The headmaster stood once Blaise was seated and said a few words before finally the formalities were over and the feast began. As the feast progressed the Hogwarts house ghosts made their presence known, a few first years shrieked as they swooped towards their houses tables, Charlotte and Blaise couldn't help but snicker when the Bloody Baron decided to seat himself next the Draco.
Once the feast had ended the great hall fell in to what seemed like organized chaos as first years were guided towards their new house common rooms, as they followed the Slytherin prefect Lucas Moore out of the hall he turned around and smirked at them all, "The best thing about Slytherin, we don't have to climb up those stairs and integrate with the other houses, were down the dungeons," he said, the female prefect Madeline Harper looked at him and shook her head before ushering everyone forwards towards the dungeon. They walked further down under the school until they finally stopped ten minutes later in front of a blank wall, "This is the entrance to our common room, the password is changed every two weeks, the password at the minute is Inferius," Lucas stated, the wall behind him vanished revealing the Slytherin common room to the first years. They all shuffled into the common room quietly and were given a brief description of it before being directed toward their dormitories, two first years to a room; Charlotte followed Pansy Parkinson towards their new dorm room, Charlotte briefly looked over the room as she entered, there were two large four poster beds in the room, they were dark mahogany with dark green drapes. Charlotte watched as Pansy jumped onto one of the beds, making the dark green bedding fly up in the air slightly. Both girls checked their belongings and Charlotte let her kitten Keiko out of her cage and Pansy sent her owl to the Owlery before both silently getting into bed and quickly falling asleep.
