Chapter 12 The Big Three

Percy POV

I stood at the front of Olympic Park in Atlanta gazing over the field. We had arrived in the city where supposedly the two strongest Gods were. Where Poseidon the God of the Sea and Zeus King of the Sky were. Jason's two strongest weapons were right here waiting for us in the middle of humid Georgia.

On my right side was my wife, Piper. On my left was Hades who was brandishing an evil smirk. Behind me was Aeolus, God of Wind, and Nemesis, The Goddess of Revenge. I sent the rest of the gods to attack Roman outposts in Florida.

Across the field was the famous Atlanta Aquarium. I could feel my father's energy inside of the place; this is where I will finally face off against him. Zeus was currently across town at the tallest building in Atlanta, the Bank of America Plaza.

I turned towards Hades and spoke, "Take Nemesis and Aeolus with you to attack Zeus. Piper and I shall confront my father."

He nodded and started to walk away with the two of them. As he was leaving he spoke, "Have fun Jackson."

I couldn't help but smile at the God of the Underworlds strange attempt at humor. I faced Piper and took her in as she looked over the Aquarium. I realized that this might be one of our last moments together and I decided to make the best of it. I turned her head towards mine and enveloped her in a passionate kiss. As my lips left hers she brought them back in for one more kiss. We broke apart smiling at each other,

"You ready?" She asked.

I nodded breathlessly as I took her hand to walk to the Aquarium. As we passed through Olympic park I saw Roman guards eyeing her and me. Poseidon was obviously expecting me and was prepared for a worst-case scenario.

As we walked in we noticed that the Aquarium had been completely abandoned besides a man standing in the center of the large room.

"Percy."

Hades POV

I stood before my brother covered in burns and bruises on top of the roof of the Bank of America Plaza. I was breathless and fatigued. Zeus wasn't faring much better with a long cut running down the side of his face spurting golden blood. The ashes of Nemesis and Aeolus laid to my right. Zeus had struck them down within the first minutes of the fight with his lightning bolt.

"Give up Hades, please see reason, this can only end one way for you. Death. Why choose death fighting for a worthless cause over living your life with honor and power?" Zeus pleaded to me.

"There is no honor in what you do. Being an Olympian used to mean something, it used to mean being just, it used to mean treating others with the kindness of a god, it used to mean excellence. The standard has fallen and now the Olympians are nothing more than power hungry scum who only care for their own skins. Percy is fighting for freedom from your sick oppression, for an end to your cruel madness, and most importantly for the chance to create an everlasting peace and friendship between Gods and Demigods alike. There is no doubt in my mind; I would gladly die to put an end to you, to put an end to all this. I would die a hundred times before I even considered joining your side. Brother, prepare to die." I said with the determination of a just man.

"Very well then, you have chosen death and I pity your sad existence." Zeus said while putting his helmet on.

I drew my obsidian sword and charged at the King of the Gods. My blade clashed with his master bolt sending sparks across the rooftop. I stepped back and blocked and incoming strike towards my head and I jabbed at his knees. He deflected my sword away quickly and connected his knee into my stomach. I stumbled back and dodged slash after slash before hitting his helmet with the flat side of my blade. His helmet rattled off his face, as he looked momentarily disgruntled but recovered quickly.

"Hades, give it up!" he said while he slashed me across the knee. I fell back limping and it took all of my power to deflect all of his kill shots. I couldn't hold off for much longer and accepted what I had to do next. Instead of blocking his next lunge towards my heart I pushed my sword through his heart as his master bolt entered mine.

Silence engulfed us as we stared into each other's eyes. Zeus collapsed next to me while I coughed up some blood.

"Where did we go so wrong Hades, me and you were a team? What sort of madness dragged us into this chaos? I yearn for a simpler day when friend did not kill friend, when son did not kill father, when brother did not kill brother. I see now that this is justice for all the sins I've committed during these past years. I can only hope that what you say about Percy is true and that he can be the one to lead us to a new age of hope and peace amongst all the Greeks." Zeus coughed out as he struggled to breathe.

I lacked the ability to speak so I simply grabbed his hand and looked at him with the peaceful acceptance of our fate. I smiled at him and he smiled at me one last time before everything faded to black.

Percy POV

Bullets of water flew back and forth across the room between my father and me. We were both weary from fighting for so long and knew that this fight was coming to an end soon. Piper laid unconscious next to the stairs and I thanked the gods that she did not die because I don't know what I would do without her, Poseidon, trident in hand, came after me. I drew my sword and rolled to the side as he stabbed at me. I drew water to my hand and shot it at his eyes momentarily distracting him. I quickly slashed across his chest and he stepped back in visible pain. Out of nowhere he flew towards me and kneed me in the gut. I flew backwards into a tank exploding it and releasing tons of fish.

Poseidon stood over me and stabbed at my throat with his trident. I shifted to the side fast enough that he missed his target nut still stabbed me through my shoulder. I let out an excruciating scream of pain as his trident exited my shoulder. I rolled away from his next lunge and tried to stand from my hands and knees. Poseidon recognizing my weakness at the moment delivered a rough kick to my ribs. I tumbled over spitting out blood as he kicked me over and over. I was unable to move as he stepped over me to end it.

Miraculously my body willed itself to move out of the way and kick him in the stomach. I was losing a lot of blood and knew I was in trouble as I nearly fainted trying to pick up my sword.

"Look at how weak you are, pathetic." Poseidon mocked as he lunged at my midsection. I dodged and slashed my sword across his arm. I quickly punched him in the face before sending my sword through his thigh. The God of the ocean roared in pain as I punched him in the face again breaking his nose in the process. His face was a bloody mess as he was now in as much pain as I was. He punched me in the ribs hard and sent me to the ground. Unable to move I knew there would be no getting out of this. Poseidon stood over me relishing the end of this gruesome battle. As he was about to bring his sword down only one thing registered in my mind.

Piper.

I closed my eyes waiting for impact but it never came. Instead Poseidon stood flailing as Piper was stabbing him in the back with her dagger. I took this as my chance to grab my sword. I yelled at Piper to jump off. She did and I stuck my sword straight through Poseidon's throat. The body quickly turned to ashes, as I lay exhausted. It was finally over. I had killed my dad.

Piper came up to me with the most relieved expression on her face. She hugged me with tears in her eyes.

"It's finally over Perce."
