Beckett's hand was holding Castle's one with strength. Her knuckles were white and her tensed muscles were twisting writer's wrist up. It was painful.
Kate breathed rhythmically, clenched her teeth and yelled again. Then she relaxed her hand. Rick breathed again and moved his fingers to check they were ok.
The detective opened her eyes and pull his hand softly.
"I love you, Rick"
The writer smiled and wiped her sweaty forehead.
"Right now... I idolize you, Kate" he said looking at her with his deep blue eyes.
"But I point out that..." Beckett squeeze his hand again " ...this is the LAST TIME ... " she tighten her jaw " ...you convince me to do THIS!"
Castle almost yelled too. Then she relaxed and he moved his fingers again.
"I remember you said the same when Cosmo was born, but after a while YOU was who wanted more Castle babies" he said.
Beckett frowned and kept breathing rhythmically, until she felt another contraction.
"And why did you pay attention to me?" she clenched "I HATE YOU, CASTLE! YOU'LL NEVER TOUCH ME AGAIN!"
Castle bit his free fist to endure the pain. When she calmed, he tried to move his fingers. He couldn't.
"You said the same when little Johanna was born" He remembered her.
"And you didn't pay heed to me EITHER!" Beckett pushed with all her strength
Castle shouted out like a grandma when Kate dug her nails in his palm.
"I tried."
"Not really."
"Ey! I was the one who, 9 months ago, told you that dress was too sexy for a business dinner. You were HOT!"
"HOT!? Well that was nothing! I feel the HELL FLAMES INSIDE ME RIGHT NOW!" She pushed furiously once more time.
"Oh, you had never said that BEFORE!" Castle yelled.
Finally a crying was heard in the labor room, louder than parent's yells and the congratulations from the doctor and assistants. Beckett and Castle stared at the little pinkish baby the doctor placed on Kate's chest.
"Look, Castle... Sooo cute." Beckett said with emotion.
Castle looked the little frowned and opened mouth face, crying to breathe for the first time. The writer had felt the same before, with Alexis, Cosmo and Johanna, but this one was special.
"This is the BEST wedding anniversary of my entire life" He said kissing to exhausted but radiant Beckett.
"Sorry for ruining your plans" She said looking his clothes.
In the Hospital had seen many weird things before, but this was the first time that a father was disguised as Indiana Jones in the labor room.
"Never mind" he smiled.
They both kept looking at their third miracle in silence. Suddenly Castle remembered something.
"Oh my God! I didn't tie the horse!"
Beckett could not imagine his husband crossing Manhattan riding a horse, but it had happened. When she called him Castle was planning the celebration he promised her 10 years ago. She laughed when Rick run out the door to check the horse.
"See honey? That's daddy." She said to the baby.
One hour after, Kate was in a room with her baby. Castle, after explaining to the police why a white horse was eating the expensive plants of a private garden, was walking to the door with his children.
He stopped before coming in and talked to them sweetly.
"Children, mummy is tired and may be bad mood, so: No protests like 'I have paused the video game and want to come back home' ..." said pointing to the boy "... or 'I don't want smashed carrots for dinner' " said pointing to the little girl. "We must be perfect daddy and children, O.K.?"
"So... You can't tell mom about 'parking ticket' problem with the horse" Cosmo said as observant as his mother.
"About that... it'll be better to say nothing... until mom came back home." Castle said thinking in her hormonal bad mood.
"O.K." The boy said with shining eyes. He was only nine years old, but he backmailed his father like a teenager.
Castle knew his silence would not be cheap.
"Daddy!" His five years old daughter, Johanna, pull his trousers to call for his attention. Rick crouched to be face to face with her.
"What happen, sweetie?"
"Where... do babies come from?" - she asked shyly looking at him with her big blue eyes.
"Frommm..." the writer swallowed "... daddies and mummies who love each other very very much, honey."
Cosmo rolled his eyes just like Beckett's style. Castle quickly looked at him to make him keeping quiet. Johanna laughed watching daddy's face and she imitated him, stared at her older brother with disapproval.
"In brief..." Castle said standing up again. "...quit you like little angels...for a while at least."
And holding one hand of each one, the three walked to the room.
"Hi, my sweeties!" Kate said when saw them crossing the door.
Just in that moment Alexis was near the bed holding the baby, so the detective opened her arms to receive her children. Cosmo run and hugged his mom with energy, she caressed his brown hair and kissed his head. Little Johanna held on his father, impressed by seeing her mother in that hospital room.
Castle noticed her reaction. He picked her up and whispered 'Mummy is O.K. Come here.' then he carried her to the bed, next to his brother. Kate caressed and kissed her too.
"There is a little person who wants to meet you both." Kate said to her children, so they could feel important.
At that moment Alexis gave back the baby to Kate. She carried her newborn showing the little face to Cosmo and Johanna. They both kept watching full of curiosity and expectation.
"I present to..." Kate looked to Rick, who approached and held her hand. Then the writer offered his other hand to Alexis, who hold him. "...the youngest in the family: Martha Beckett Castle."
The three adults smiled and looked each other. The sudden loss of Martha Rodgers two years ago had left a hole in their hearts. Now it has been partially filled with the birth of the little baby girl.
"I think it's a very complicated name for a little baby." Cosmo said making a gesture. The boy had opinions about everything, just like his father.
"We call her Martha or Martie, honey." Kate explained him.
"Your name is complicated and you were a little baby too, Cosmo Alexander Castle." his father told him remembering the happy moment.
"Hum... I think I have never been so little." The boy said caressing his new sister's little hand, who did not complain.
At that moment Johanna pulled his father's "Last Crusade" shirt. Castle obeyed his daughter signal to approach his ear. That was what Johanna always did when there were too much movement and activity in a place and she wanted to talk.
"Sure, sweetie." He said after listening to her. Kate observed the rapport between Rick and Johanna and smiled.
"Family! Silent please! Joha want to tell something to her sister!"
The little girl concentrated as if she were remembering something memorized and spoke softly:
"Dear little sister, I'm your big sister, Johanna Houghton Castle and I'm going to love you very very much... and when you grow up I'll teach you to play laser battles... to win Cosmo at last!" The girl said staring her brother with her big blue eyes seriously.
The three adults in the room said 'Ooooh' with wide smiles, thinking that Johanna has been cute. The boy looked her and then realized that from now everything would be 'two girls' against 'one boy'.
"Mum! The next one must be a boy! Please!" Cosmo quickly asked to his mother. Kate raised her eyebrows and froze her smile. She was thinking: Another one? Four Caskett children? No way!
Alexis who had kept silence until now, talked:
"Well, Cosmo, if you don't care, instead a new little brother... Would you like a nephew?" The red-haired woman looked him who raised his eyebrows Beckett's style.
Then she looked to his father and Kate, who kept their eyes big opened. Alexis could not keep her secret more time:
"I'm going to have a baby."
After a second of silence, in which Castle visualized the word 'grandfather' in large letters at the bottom of a picture of his face, the writer opened his arms and went to hug his daughter.
"This is definitely the best wedding anniversary of my life!" He shouted.
Beckett congratulated her, and Alexis bent to be hugged and kissed by her stepmother/big-sister/very-good-friend. It was difficult to define their close relationship after so many years.
The three adults began an agitated conversation with lots of questions, smiles, hugs and laughs. They forget about Cosmo and Johanna.
"A boy! Sure! You will see!" Cosmo said looking Johanna revengefully. Johanna replied, sticking her tongue out challenging him.
This is the last chapter. Definitely. Thanks for reading. Sorry for my bad English.
