Ludwig wakes up next to Sweden, who is cuddling to his chest. He can feel a faint, hot breath on his skin. It feels nice to hold him like this. He closes his eyes and enjoys the moment, feeling a tiredness getting a hold of his body. He relaxes and glad that he doesn't have anything special he has to do today he drifts off to sleep. While being in a dreamy state between sleep and reality a sudden buzzing noise ruins the peaceful room. His opens his eyes and silently curse the unidentified source of the noise. He leans to the side of the bed, away from Sweden and his comfortable body heat. He finds the source of the sound to come from his pants lying on the floor. He stretches out and pulls the garment closer. He reaches the pocket and pulls out his phone and answers the call with a low voice.
"Good morning Ludwig. Still asleep, I see." His boss sounds dangerously calm.
"Well, I'm free today." Ludwig says with a feeling that it will not last for long.
"No, you're not. You would have known if you answered your phone last night." His boss definitely sound displeased.
"Ah, I missed that."
"I noticed. Anyway, I have arranged a meeting with Russia and his boss. The meeting will be held here so I want you to come to my office. Bring the papers and the report." Ludwig sighs inwardly, not daring to let his boss notice.
"When did you say I needed to be there?"
"Eight." Ludwig glances at the clock on his bedside table. 07:13. Shit. Ludwig looks at his phone. His boss hung up. He looks at Sweden, sleeping peacefully. He leans close to him, giving him a soft kiss on his blond locks.
"I'll be back." He whispers and gets out of the bed and into the bathroom. He takes a quick shower, puts on his suit and makes some coffee. He glances at the clock, feeling stressed. His boss will not be pleased of he is latte, and after going through this for mostly his sake the least he can do is be on time for the meeting. He scribbles down a note for Sweden and then gathers the signed documents and the report needed for his boss and the meeting. A cup of coffee later he is ready and leaves the house in a hurry.
By breaking a number of traffic laws he actually makes it to the office in time. There he and his boss prepares for the meeting.
The meeting itself is long and tense. Ludwig often finds his thoughts wandering to Sweden. He is probably awake by know, he wonders what he is doing and how he is feeling. He is worried that they won't convince Russia and especially his boss to leave the properties to the rightful owner. It goes very slow, but at the end it seems as if they are winning. Hours later they finally end the meeting with Russia passing handing his keys to Ludwig with a not very pleased look on his scary face. Russia who often smiles that creepy smile seems a bit off today and looks almost sad.
After the meeting Ludwig drives home, happy about how the meeting had turned out. Now he just wants to see Sweden, tell him the news and hopefully bring some king of joy to his misery. After parking his car he walks to his house, only to find it empty. He walks around the house, looking everywhere for his guest. He doesn't find him anywhere. Just like the day before he is starting to worry. Unpleasant thoughts are starting to pop up in his mind, he can't hold them back. What if something happened, what if he didn't found the note and thought that Ludwig had left him in the morning? Ludwig hurries into the kitchen and stares at the empty table. He had put the note here, and now it's gone. Sweden must have taken it. Ludwig still doesn't know where Sweden is or why he is gone. Should he look for him or wait for him to come back? He decides to wait at the moment. He makes something to eat. Ludwig is too worried to actually feel like eating something but he has to do something while waiting. Just sitting down doing nothing will simply drive him mad. Besides, he is hungry after such an intense day while he didn't even had breakfast.
After eating and sitting for a while just watching time pass by incredibly slowly he decides to go and look for Sweden. It is starting to get late and he can't just sit here and do nothing. What if something actually has happened?
He takes the car and checks the bar he found him in last time. He can't find him there so he continues to search. He has a bad feeling about this, he tries to push down the panic as he drives on random roads in town. After about forty five minutes he gives up and turns home. Just to be sure Sweden isn't at the bar he stops there. He can't see Sweden anywhere amongst the people in there, though he spots the other Nordics. He asks them if they knows where Sweden is, and Denmark answers that he does.
"I saw him earlier today, he was on his way home. Seems like he got his way with the commie bastard after all."
"Wait, his home?"
"Yes, what else?" Ludwig stands speechless for a moment. How did that happened? Yes, Sweden officially got his house back, but they made the decision for just some hours ago. Did it really reached Sweden so fast? Anyway, that doesn't really matter right now.
Ludwig hurries out of the bar and drives to Sweden's house. Why haven't Sweden said anything about this? Ludwig is still worrying, though not as much as before. When he comes to Sweden's house it is dark inside. It doesn't seem as if anyone's home but Ludwig walks to the door anyway. He opens the door which is not locked. Maybe he is home after all. He still has a bad feeling about this but tries to ignore it. He just wants to find Sweden. Since the sun is setting it is starting to get dark outside. Ludwig calls out for Sweden, but doesn't get an answer. He decides to look through the house anyway. It feels a bit strange to roam about in Sweden's house alone. He searched the kitchen, living room, and then went up the stairs to look for the bedroom which he presumes is up there. He opens the first door he spots. It is dark inside the room. Ludwig's hand searches for the switcher and finds it. The moment after the room bathes is light and Ludwig finally finds what he is searching for. On the king sized bed lays Sweden, curled into a ball with his back turned against him. Ludwig feels relief wash over him as he finally found him.
"Sweden?" Ludwig calls out as he approaches the bed. He doesn't get an answer. Maybe Sweden is asleep. No, he moved a bit, tough he still got his back turned against him.
"Sweden, are you alright? I'm sorry for leaving you like that this morning, my boss called and…" Sweden slowly sits up, still not facing him.
"Get out." The voice is low and cold. Ludwig feels how the tight knot in his stomach returns. For a moment he doesn't know what to say. Sweden seems to be quite upset. Ludwig thinks back on the morning, and last night. Leaving Sweden like that wasn't good, now he understand maybe how bad.
"About this morning, I'm sorry, I understand now that…"
"So now you're sorry. Don't give me that shit and get the hell out of here. Do you really think that you can come back after what you did?" His voice wasn't very loud, but low and powerful. He still hasn't turned to face him. Ludwig sits frozen, just absorbing the anger and hurt in the other ones voice.
"Hey Berwald, let me..." he feels the air leave his lungs as a foot quickly shoves him of the bed and down on the floor which greets him with a hard hit in the back.
"I said leave." The voice is now cold, empty of all feelings. Ludwig stands up slowly, gaining time to gather his thoughts. Okay, Sweden is pissed at him but why this much? Was it really that bad? He looks at Sweden who is now sitting in the bed, giving him a death glare. For a moment Ludwig gets the feeling that the ice cold look is piercing his soul painfully. He tries to ignore it and notice that Sweden's eyes are red as if he's been crying.
"Berwald, let's talk. I'm not leaving before that." He hopes that using his real name will help, somehow. Sweden just stares at him.
"What is there to talk about? The fact that I woke up like that, you were gone and had left some papers about getting my house back. If you didn't want to see me again you could just have said so!" His voice was loud, eyes full of hate and hurt. "And I don't want to see you again so get out." He crawls away, sitting on the far end of the bed with his knees drawn up in front of him, half hiding his face. Ludwig is hit by what Sweden just yelled at him. Did he really…
"What papers? I gave those to my boss." Ludwig is trembling and he feels his heart beat in his chest. "I only left you a note on the kitchen table this morning." Sweden looks at him with doubt and something else in his eyes.
"Please, I never meant to hurt you." Ludwig truly hopes that Sweden will listen to him. He feels the knot in his stomach tighten a bit.
"But even if you didn't mean… After that night, how do I even know if you…" Ludwig slowly comes closer. He sits down beside Sweden.
"Because I love you, no matter what." He says it calmly, feeling the knot in his stomach being replaced by another feeling. Sweden looks at him in surprise, eyes wide in shock. Ludwig sees a tear on his cheek from before, eyes even more read.
"And I'm sorry for last night, especially since it caused you so much trouble." Ludwig doesn't really know what to say so he simply hopes it will help.
"I…" Sweden lowers his gaze which causes him to look like a lost child. "Do you promise to stay then?" He says in a low voice after a moment of silence. Ludwig breaths out relieved.
"Yes, I do." He says and pulls Sweden to his chest while lying down. They stay like that for a while. When they do Ludwig feels how tired he is, tired and happy. After a moment he feels someone fumble with his coat.
"Isn't this getting warm?" Sweden asks. It is, and his suit is also not very comfortable. He considers removing it, but that would mean that he has to get Sweden of his chest which he is not at all pleased with. He does it anyway, slowly sitting up, giving Sweden time to do so as well. They remove their shirts and pants. Ludwig walks to the door and switch off the lights. He then lies down next to Sweden, wrapping an arm around him and holding him close.
"I love you." Sweden says quietly. Ludwig kisses the top of his head.
"Love you too." He relaxes and thinks about how perfect this is.
Shit. He feels his body tense.
"What is it?" Sweden asks. He obviously noticed his changed mode. Ludwig groans down in the pillow, hiding his face in it. He takes a deep breath.
"The note I spoke of. I must have mixed it with some other paper, giving you the document for my boss and my boss the note I wrote for you."
