AUTHOR NOTE:

Hey guys! Here is chapter five after a long wait! No excuses, just couldn't get motivated... isn't it so annoying when you read a story and EVERY single chapter has an authors note with some new excuse for why it took longer than promised. (Sorry guys... my uh... exotic flying cat decided to eat my motherboard and I had to start from scratch... and my leg is broke... and the internet is down... and aliens invaded my village so I forgot what I was writing about in the first place) hehe anyway that's how I feel about that. I'll not feed you guys a bunch of B/S. My life is busy, whose isn't?

I've done some editing. Now Each chapter sort of has the same 'format' with the chapter titles and disclaimers and all that. I'm also starting 'THE STORY SO FAR' at the bottom of the chapter, which I'm borrowing from fanfic author brigrove. It's a brilliant idea, and I'm not sure if it was his or he borrowed it from someone else. Check it out and let me know what you think. Its supposed to keep you from getting confused and highlight key points in each chapter in case you want to get to a specific point in the story but forgot which chapter it was. You will now see this update on previous chapters!

PREVIOUS CHAPTER:

Harry and Ginny help Sirius at the Ministry. Harry goes to Gringotts.

IF YOU DONT READ ANYTHING ABOVE, AT LEAST READ THIS:

Now I know there may be some confusion here. 'Lily' is Ginny from the future 'James' is Harry from the future and 'Harry' is baby Harry from the present. It wont always be that way as the story progresses and they will eventually be called by their true names, but this is how it has to be for now. Bear with me! And enjoy!...

Harry Raises Harry: Chapter Five

Molly Weasley was no healer, so it came as a surprise when her former professor and current Headmaster of Hogwarts sought her out to do just that. She was in the kitchen, her sanctuary, the one place in the house she could go to escape from the children. If they knew she was cooking, they found ways to entertain each other until the meal was ready. She'd just begun to prepare Sheppard's pie, when his head popped into her fireplace. Startled, she jumped a bit.

Placing a hand over her racing heart, she greeted him with a small bow of her head, "Professor Dumbledore… What an unexpected surprise."

He chuckled, "No need for formalities, Molly, after all, you haven't been a student of mine in over ten years! Please, just call me Albus."

"Oh, of course, Al-bus," she tested the name, though it felt so unfamiliar to call him that. She suddenly felt like a child again, unsure of how to approach him. She couldn't imagine what he would call for, but she thought it could be Ministry or Order related, so she asked, "Do you need to speak with Arthur?"

"Actually," he replied, "I was hoping to speak with both of you."

Molly thought quickly. It wasn't very often she was contacted by anyone other than Arthur's coworkers. What would her mother have done? Oh yes, invite him over for dinner.

"Well, Arthur won't be home for another half hour or so, would you like to join us for dinner?" she asked.

"Splendid!" he exclaimed, "Will six o'clock do?"

She nodded politely, her heart rate increasing. Oh Merlin, she was not an entertainer. And to have a guest such as Dumbledore? She felt very nervous. He waved a little goodbye before his head disappeared from the fire. She'd seen him on rare occasions since her childhood. He was, of course, head of the Order. She, however, spent more time at home with her children than out fighting the war.

She quickly stuck the prepared meal into her magically powered oven before taking off up the stairs.

"BOYS! BOYS!"

"Yeah mum?" Bill and Charlie replied in unison. Fred and George were picking up on this, and almost always spoke in unison or finished sentences for each other. Molly had to admit, it was cute the first week.

"The Headmaster of Hogwarts, Professor Dumbledore, will be joining us for dinner. I need you to get cleaned up," she replied urgently.

She left the room quickly but heard replies of "NO WAY," and "Whoa," follow.

She quickly checked on Ginny, who was an abnormally calm newborn compared to her older brothers. Ginny was sleeping, and Molly hoped she would stay that way throughout dinner. Percy was only five, and the twins were three. She planned to make their plates early and send them back up to their toy room. Ron was one, and she knew she would have to keep him by her side.

She made her way back to the kitchen and checked the dinner. It wasn't easy being a mother of seven, and it was times like these she longed for a house elf. She had some left over pie dough from the pies she'd made for their miniature Halloween feast a few days before, and decided to make up an apple pie quickly.

By the time Albus arrived for dinner, everything had managed to work out. Arthur arrived home and helped her get the younger boys set up in the play room, Ginny was still sleeping in her cradle, the two older boys had showered and put on decent clothing, and Ron was happily playing on his pallet in the floor. She managed to cook everything to peak perfection, as always.

Albus complimented her as he leaned back in his chair, clutching his overly stuffed stomach, "Molly, I must say your cooking exceeds even that of Hogwarts."

She blushed, "Thank you Albus."

Arthur, who'd been filled in by Molly about the conversation she had with Dumbledore, sensed he was ready to discuss whatever he'd needed to speak with them about. Arthur was sure it had something to do with the Potters, who'd recently become the main topic of conversation in the Ministry, though nobody had seen them since Halloween night.

"Boys," Arthur said, "Would you go watch your siblings for a bit?"

Bill and Charlie knew it wasn't a question, and both left without complaint.

Albus waited until they were out of earshot before he began. As a precaution, he cast a silencing charm on the room.

"As I'm sure you've both heard, the Potters were attacked by Voldemort on Halloween night," they both flinched at the name, but he continued, "He cursed both Lily and James, and he cast the killing curse at their son, Harry."

Molly gasped and glanced over at Ron, still playing on the floor. Her Ron had to be around the same age as Harry. What would You-Know-Who want with a little boy?

"The curse backfired. Voldemort has disappeared. Some say he is dead, but I wouldn't throw caution to the wind just yet. Lily, James, and Harry all survived the encounter, but there has been a complication."

"Is there something wrong with their son?" Arthur inquired. He knew Lily and James had been at the Ministry courtrooms that same night with the baby, alive and well.

"No," he replied, "I would have expected there to be, but the problem actually lies in James and Lily. That night, they went to The Three Broomsticks with Sirius Black and rented a room until they could get moved into a new home, as the one in Godric's Hollow was destroyed. They both fell asleep, but neither woke up since. It's been three days, and I worry this may be after effects of whatever curse they were put under."

Molly's mind immediately went to the little boy, Harry. "Who is watching their son?"

"His godfather, Sirius," Albus replied.

Molly was slightly troubled by that news. She didn't know him well, but she knew enough to know he was no parent. She'd heard the rumors while out shopping. She knew his scene was the party and young girls, not diaper changing and meal making.

"So why tell us?" Arthur asked, sensing there was more.

"I've run many diagnostic tests on them, and can see there is no cure. We must simply wait until they wake from their sleep. It could be months, or years, or they could wake up within the next hour. This curse, whatever it is, has side effects that are unheard of, and I fear Lily and James would become test subjects more than patients who need to be cared for, if given a public caregiver from St. Mungo's. I would offer Madam Pomfrey, but she is needed in the Hogwarts infirmary. They need to have food transported into their stomachs, their waste product extracted, and to be scourgified daily , perhaps an actual bath weekly. It would keep my nurse away from Hogwarts too often. We need someone they trust. You fought the war in the Order with them. Lily even asked for advice from you when she first found out she was pregnant with Harry. Molly, could you be a private caregiver to them?"

"Me?" she asked shocked, "But… I'm no healer. I don't… I mean, I'd love to but I have so much already…" she could faintly hear Ginny's cries from the other room, "Excuse me," she got up and took off to care for her newborn daughter.

"Arthur," Albus turned to him, "It would only be a few hours a day. Long enough to clean them up and feed them three meals. She would, of course, be compensated for her time, and I'd even send over a few house elves from Hogwarts to help out when she can't be here."

Arthur shook his head, "She won't accept charity."

"It's not charity," he insisted, "I'm asking for a favor and trying to repay the best I can. I know it's a lot, but think about it. Please talk to her more for me."

Time passed, and James and Lily remained in deep slumber. Molly came day after day without complaint. She naturally refused payment, but did accept the extra help from Hogwarts elves. On several occasions, she had invited Sirius and Harry over for dinner, and her family had grown close to them. She smiled at the memory of her first day.

She arrived at The Three Broomsticks via apparation the morning following the night Dumbledore spoke with her and Arthur. She took the time to make breakfast for her family and gave everyone a goodbye kiss before leaving. She wasn't sure how long she could care for James and Lily, but had to at least try. She supposed it must have been extremely important for Dumbledore to be involved, and knew she should feel honored he thought she could do the job.

When she stepped through the doors of the pub, Rosmerta pointed her in the right direction. Molly gave a slight nod. She and Rosmerta had shared a dorm at Hogwarts, but had grown apart after graduating. Molly had to be a mother, and Rosmerta inherited the family business.

As she had suspected when she heard the news, Sirius had no idea how to raise a child. When she entered the room, she could instantly tell he was having trouble.

"Aw c'mon Pup, how am I supposed to change your nappies with you kicking like that?"

She chuckled and rushed over to help, and thus began her relationship with Harry and Sirius. She, in a sense, took them in as her own. Sirius eventually kept Harry, James and Lily at 12 Grimmauld Place, because the Potter Estate had for whatever reason become unplottable, and he couldn't afford a place of his own that could accommodate all four of them. During the hours she was taking care of Harry, James, and Lily, Sirius worked part-time at Quality Quidditch Supplies.

It was on the one year anniversary of her accepting the task that she began to wonder if they would ever wake up. She wondered if there needed to be a long-term plan. She loved helping out, but she had her own family to tend to, and she was missing out on watching her children grow. Bill had started Hogwarts, and she didn't even have time to take him shopping at Diagon Alley. Arthur took him without her when it became apparent she wouldn't be able to make time to go.

It was on that day she flooed Albus with questions of her own. When she stepped through the fireplace, he appeared to have expected to see her.

"Lemon drop, Molly?" he offered kindly, "It's a muggle candy, and I'm quite fond of it."

She made a face, "No thank you, Albus. I've never cared for lemon."

He popped one into his mouth with a smile, "I suspect you are wondering if I've come up with a solution to our James and Lily situation."

She nodded in response, taking a seat across from his desk "I'm not sure I can do this for another year."

"Let me reassure you Molly, you may quit at any time. You were just my first choice as a caregiver," he replied.

She decided to bring up a thought that had been floating around her head for a while, "Sometimes I feel like you had ulterior motives when you picked me for the job… I think you knew I would take Harry in. Be like a mother to him."

He cleared his throat, "I may have chosen you because I knew you wouldn't leave Harry until his parents were well again, but also because I trust you and I believed you could do it better than anyone else."

"But if you chose me because you knew I wouldn't leave, then you must have known it was going to take this long… or longer," she insisted.

He shook his head, "When I first came to you I had my suspicion but I wasn't sure. After much studying and research I think I've come to an approximate time frame we can expect them to wake."

She sat a little straighter and waited for his response.

"You must understand, I did my research in the library of a friend of mine, Nicolas Flamel, and I'm afraid I cannot share knowledge from there with the outside world. He has ancient and dark texts he has collected through the years, and fears the knowledge could be detrimental if put in the wrong hands. He and I have reached an agreement. I can study for days, months, years, and stay there, but when it's time to leave he obliviates me. All I'm left with is my conclusion."

"Well," she urged.

"All I know is they will wake up sometime between the three and four year mark," he responded.

She slouched in the chair. There was no question of whether or not she would continue. She was in too deep. That little boy was attached to her, and she truly did love him like a son. She trusted Dumbledore, and knew he must have some sort of plan if they didn't wake up. She thanked him for his time and returned home to the Burrow for the day.

Three more years passed; they were six weeks into the fourth year. Molly awoke bright and early, ready to start her normal routine. The sun hadn't risen yet, and Arthur was still sleeping. She quietly crept down to the kitchen to begin cooking. She opened the pantry to find it nearly empty, so after digging around a bit, she decided to make a breakfast casserole. She had a few eggs and some cheese in the cooler, and after a trip outside to the garden she had some vegetables. She mixed all the ingredients for an egg casserole and placed the pan in the oven. She set a magical timer and quickly made her way to the small bathroom on the first floor.

She took a quick shower, making sure to scrub the garden dirt off her, and magically drying herself off when done. She wrapped up in a fluffy robe and returned to the kitchen. The casserole had a few more minutes, so she began magically juicing some oranges and searched for a pitcher and her bag of sugar. She frowned at the contents of the bag. Nearly empty. There was enough for the juice, but it was obvious she would need to make a trip to the store that day. She finished the juice and pulled the casserole out of the oven, so it could cool.

Molly could start to see bits of light outside, so she knew the sun would be making an appearance soon. She made her way back up the stairs to wake Arthur for work. Like any good wife, she made sure her husband was happy and all his needs were met before he went to work. All of his needs. Unfortunately she seemed to be unable to conceive another child since Ginny. Nevertheless, she continued to wake him up the way he liked. Once in a while she would sleep in, and he got to return the favor.

One silencing charm and fourteen minutes later, they both emerged from the room looking blissful. Molly had changed into her outfit for the day, and headed to wake the children. Arthur had his work clothes hovering beside him as he made his way to the nearest shower.

Bill and Charlie were at Hogwarts, so Molly just had Percy, George, Fred, Ron, and Ginny at home. Harry had been spending most of his nights with her, so he was there too. He typically stayed in Ron's room, but occasionally fell asleep with one of the twins or in the playroom. Molly had considered adding on a room just for him, but Arthur always reminded her that his stay was temporary.

Once the boys and Ginny had gathered at the table with their sleepy eyes and bed hair she handed out plates of casserole and glasses of orange juice. She made a plate for Arthur and scooped out a small plate for herself. She made sure to leave plenty in the pan just in case they wanted seconds.

She got the post from the Prophet owl, bid Arthur farewell, made chore lists and gave instructions to the Hogwarts house elf, Lo, before Flooing to 12 Grimmauld place with Harry. Percy was nine, but very mature for his age, so she trusted him to watch over his siblings. Not to mention the house elf was perfectly capable, and Molly would return home soon enough.

She always took Harry with her to care for James and Lily. She didn't want him to grow away from them, or become too attached to her and Arthur, though she knew they would have a special bond for life. Arthur had helped Sirius get a full time job at the Ministry, which meant he couldn't always be home to watch Harry. Harry always spent the weekends with Sirius, but usually the week with Molly and Arthur. Harry was used to this schedule, and he seemed equally happy to spend time at either house.

Molly preformed her usual spells, emptying their bladders and bowels. She skipped the scourgify because it was a bathing day, and set straight into mixing a liquid meal. Harry played in an imaginary world on the other side of the room, like any five year-old would.

Once Molly had fed them, she called Harry over, and pulled up a chair to their bed.

"Harry, dear, won't you help me read a story to your mum and dad?" she asked the young boy before her. She held up his favorite book.

Harry nodded enthusiastically upon seeing the cover. "I'm good at reading this one!" he exclaimed.

She handed him the book and he climbed into the chair. Molly listened fondly as he told the tale.

She made sure to read to the children daily. She hadn't begun teaching the younger ones to read, but Harry had a good memory. He learned to memorize stories and liked to retell them while holding the book. He had Ron and Ginny convinced he could read. Fred and George went along with it, but Percy wasn't too impressed.

Molly and Harry spent a couple hours talking to and playing near his parents. She waited until he was ready to go before they left. She knew she would return later that evening to run a bath. Sirius cleaned James before she got there, and she would bathe Lily. It had become a routine that every Monday was a bathing day, but she always left a note on the hallway table reminding Sirius when he got home. Just in case he forgot.

Molly's afternoon probably would have passed in a blur. She would have done her grocery shopping, played with the children for a while, prepared dinner, returned to 12 Grimmauld Place to bathe Lily, and then retired at the burrow that evening as usual. Nothing would have been out of place, nothing would have seemed significant. She simply would have gone through the motions of her normal routine.

However, her routine was disrupted by the unexpected. Sure, she had mused and imagined what it would be like when Lily and James woke up. She had concocted different scenarios, and how she would handle each one. Sometimes they woke up in a panic or had no memories of who they were, sometimes they woke up screaming and thrashing, sometimes she even imagined how she would deal if one woke up without the other; but, of all the scenarios, she had never imagined it would happen the way it did.

So when the brilliantly green eyes of a very naked, soap and suds covered Lily Potter looked up at her with love and recognition from the porcelain tub, Molly had to consider how to handle the situation.

And if Molly's normal routine hadn't been uprooted enough by the sudden awakening of Lily Potter, Lily aided the chaos in Molly's head with the first word out of her mouth in four years, "Mom?"

AUTHOR'S FINAL COMMENTS:

Well... be honest. I know its a little cliffy, but that more for me than for you. I'll need something to go off of when I get another whim to write. So if anyone has suggestions for 'british' or 'english' meals... that would be helpful. I know its a strange request, but I'm American and I eat pizza and sweet iced tea for every meal. It's hard to come up with ideas.

Also... Please don't hate me. This HAD to happen. Otherwise we would have had a basically plotless story for however many chapters while Harry and Ginny get into the role of parent. THEY STILL WILL! But this speeds things up and I think you'll enjoy this story better without a lot of filler chapters on being parents.
