Gakupo's P.O.V.
I turned onto my back in my sleeping back and looked over to check on Lily. Sure enough she was completely out of it. With her back turned towards me, but she made no movements. I hoped I was right about her sleeping.
I shimmied out of my sleeping bag and pulled on my shoes. I looked back again just to make sure she was still out and slowly began unzipping the tent flap as to not wake her.
"So where're you planning on running off to at this time of night, Kupo?" Her voice wasn't angry or groggy and I knew she'd been awake the entire time. I quickly thought of how to answer her interrogation techniques.
"Oh, well good morning to you to sunshine." I sighed and released the tent flap zipper for a minute.
"Cut the bullshit, you're going to spy on Neru and Rin aren't you?" I turned to see a grin just scarcely illuminated by our low set lantern. There wasn't any point of keeping it a secret now when Lily already knew the answer way before I even heard the question. And since clever minds think alike it'd be rude not to invite her.
"Okat so you caught me red handed. I wouldn't say spy per say. You make it sound so evil and diabolical Lily. Besides you know you want to come along." I ssmile sadistically at her for a minute and she rolls her eyes.
" It'd be different if they weren't close friends but oh, what do you know, they are close friends now aren't they? And that is because it is extremely intrusive I mean we'd hear stuff we shouldn't hypothetically speaking." Lily raised an eyebrow.
"And perhaps stuff that we'll never have the chance of hearing again too. But yes you're right it'd be extremely wrong." I looked at her seriously.
The tent filled with silence for a good solid few seconds before it was broken.
"Alright lets go, I need to know the juicy information."
I nodded triumphantly, unzipping the tent flap and ducking out of it fast. I stretched my arms out towards the moonlit sky and smiled to myself. The stars were peppered across the blue night sky which swirled into different shades of blue. Once my eyes adjusted it was almost as if I could see the entire surrounding area clearly just due to the natural light provided. I groaned and tapped the tent with the back of my hand. Lily's head appeared from the tent entrance as she crawled out stumbling.
"Yeah yeah, i'm hurrying as fast as I can." She got to her feet and we started walking out of the campsite. Walking along the lake at a quick pace.
Len's P.O.V.
"This isn't fair, she left me here!"
'Tsk tsk tsk, it was her fault wasn't it Len? And she left without even a goodbye. She deserves to be punished.'
I gripped my hair and paced back and forth before throwing my cell at the front door as hard as I could. She left me through text. I felt my blood pulse going up the angrier I got. He was right, she deserves the pain I feel. I treated her right, and damn good for her mistake with my sister.
"I want her to scream! I want her face against the dirt, pleading how sorry she is! I want her to know she broke my heart the same way Rin did!" I picked up a knife and jammed it into the door.
'To the campsite we go then?'
"I don't know where they're camping at and I don't have a way there. Unless.. I have an idea."
I picked up the house phone and dialed a number. I waited for it to ring. The other line went silent for a minute.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Len, do me a favor?"
"Len! Hey man, yeah sure what can I do for ya?" Her voice was kind of groggy but her response was quick.
"I was wondering if you knew where Rin and all of them were camping. I was going to drop by and say hi. And you would have gone if you didn't have art courses to go to." There was a pause over the other side of the line and my hope sank a little the longer she took to answer.
"I mean sure, I can check out your sister and her friends." She laughed a little and my jaw clenched.
"You act just like Gakupo sometimes. Just come get me please."
"On my way," She said calmly.
"Okay and uh-"
"what is it man?"
"Thanks Cul, seriously I owe you." There was a sigh on the other line and I hit the end call button. Now that everything was fitting together all I would have to do next is find her. That itself wouldn't be too hard surely. Cul was too airheaded to ever actually ask why we needed to go up there which is why she made the best chauffeur.
After a few minutes there was knock at the front door. I walked over and hel my ear to the crack cautiously.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Who the hell do you think it is? It's me, Cul. Get your ass out here and lets go, dude."
I opened the door and my eyes moved upward to meet hers. I really hated being shorter then most everyone I knew. It was like a damned curse. Cul looked past me and to the ground where my broken phone was still laying in pieces. She looked at me with a bit of worry crossing her face.
"Are you sure you want to do this right now? I mean the-"
"Lets go,"We hopped in her old red Chevy pickup and started our drive down to where the others would be.
'Let's find Neru, Len. We know what to do. What she deserves right?'
I felt a small smirk cross my lips. And the desire for revengeful satisfaction on my tongue. I would get what I wanted no matter what was in my way.
Gakupo's P.O.V.
"Ouch! Watch your bony elbows!" Lily hissed at my but I couldn't quite make out her facial reaction in the dark.
We were hidden behind a group of bushes not far from where Neru and Rin were sitting. The trees had covered us from nearly any light source so the only quite visible bodies were the two situated out in the open. We could just make out their conversation.
" A few days before, Teto had told me how Len had asked her to come over and hang out. I over looked it even though I thought it was a bad idea… I walked into the house to Len and Teto arguing over something ridiculous so I went to my room to finish some homework. I heard some banging fifteen minutes or so later and I went down to check what it was.." Rin's voice lowered the more she went on and I felt Lily hit my shoulder.
"you don't actually think that-" Lily's sentence was broken off when we heard Rin almost yell. It made us both jump a bit at how determined she sounded.
"Because you need to know my story, Neru! Stop being so thick headed and listen to me for once!"
I felt Lily grasp on to my arm as we both peaked through the brush stealthily.
"When I went down to see what was going on I saw Len grabbing Teto by the hair and a knife in her stomach… Sh-she tried to scream and his eyes met mine. It was as if Len had suddenly turned into evil itself. Wh-when I looked into his eyes it filled me with fear."
Neither Lily or myself could find words to really make into a response. We'd pegged the idea of coming out here as a bit of drama. But this conversation already had us both in a stunned and speechless silence. We just sat there trying our best not to rustle the bushes.
"Stop lying about what happened. All the evidence is out of your favor and you know that."
"H-he began laughing maniacally about what he'd done.. And than he did it, again, and again, and again. Teto was now to out of it to scream for help and only moans of pain escaped her lips. So when I finally grew the courage to stop him I grabbed his hand the knife was in and pulled the knife away. But he wouldn't stop fighting… I grabbed his shirt and ripped it when he tried to pull away. So he pinned m-me to the wall. 'It's sad you won't love me back, Rin. Instead you leave me to brute force.' He whispered in my ear. I can still feel his bloody hand slithering up my shirt."
I felt Lily's grasp on my arm grow more limp as the minutes passed. I had no doubt any minute now she'd fall asleep. I could even feel my own eye lids growing heavy by the second but I kept pressing myself to stay awake. But I only heard a bit more before my eyes drifted shut completely. Regardless of what I might miss.
Luka's P.O.V.
'God, she's beautiful even when she's sound asleep.' I thought as I laid next to Miku. The same thought still itching at the back of my mind. Here I was laying next to my girlfriend, on a fantastic trip. If I waited any longer I was sure that something bad would prevent me. I graduated and once we got back Miku wouldn't have much of her own time free. So what exactly was I waiting for?
I leaned over to my bag and unzipped the front pocket. I fumbled around till I found the small box and pulled it out. I let out a deep breath and flipped open the case. Inside there lay the ring. Even in the dark it managed to be visible. I had saved up all the money I could to buy a Two carat diamond engagement ring. I would have go bigger but Miku likes simple. Which makes treating her like a princess so difficult sometimes.
"Mm.. what are you doing, Luka..?" I heard her soft and sleepy voice and it caused a series of chills to run up my spine.
I turned over and held the box behind my back. Her fingers caressed my cheek softly as she smiled so gently at me. I leaned my forehead against hers and pressed my lips against her lips and smiled.
"I'll tell you tomorrow okay?"
Miku nodded and laid her head against my chest. Typically most people have hesitation or doubt before proposing. And all I dealt with was simply being anxious. I wanted to know what she'd say. What everyone else would think if she said yes. I wasn't terrified of her rejection. I was deathly afraid I'd lose her entirely by scaring her off. And then the thought crossed my mind that there might be someone who has advice for this situation. If anyone could help me, it'd be Meiko. Her and Kaito had been together longer than anyone else I knew. Not including adult couples of course. So I had high hopes that Meiko might have relationship advice that might help me even just a tiny bit.
I reached back behind me trying my hardest not to make too many unneeded movements. I slipped the small black box case in the front pocket of my bag. Miku's a large part of my life. Proposing might be a bit risky, but it'd mean showing her how deep I want to take this. Making her an even larger part in my life. There was a sigh and I felt Miku's fingertips run through my hair.
"I can't sleep knowing something's bothering you."Miku whispered.
"so what's on your mind, Luka?"
I took a deep breath and intertwined my fingers with hers. It'd made me feel exceptionally bad when I worried Miku. She always worried about me and whether I was okay. Even when I was at work I could expect texts from her checking up on me. Most people that'd probably bother. But for me, it really only made me love her more. Not even my family really checked up on me. Rin tended to do the same. So if I were to say anyone was my family it'd probably be those two.
"Nothing is bother me, love. Just thinking about what happens after this trip."
"I can tell when you're lying, Luka." There was hints of concern and hurt in her voice.
I hesitated and parted my lips to assure her. But I couldn't even find the words to speak. Instead all I could do was let go of her hands and stay silent. Because I knew even if I did say something else it'd only be another lie. I felt I'd done enough damage as it was.
Miku turned her back toward me and pulled her sleeping bag closer around her. I wanted so bad to just throw my arms around her and tell her the truth and just do what I should have done. I wanted her to know I didn't mean to hurt her; that I was just scared. That I just wanted answers and wanted to know there wasn't a surreal danger in losing her. Then maybe she'd tell me it was alright and that she understood where I was coming from.
And I couldn't even muster the courage to apologize to the girl I loved.
