Author's Notes: Ok my savages, this is going to be the last chapter of this story...prepare for some feels...don't hate me for what's about to happen...
Roger glared at the two boys in his way to the Beast. She looked so innocent, so helpless but he knew that as soon as he let her go, she would kill them all...
"Step away from that thing..."
"Step back, Roger," Jack warned, his spear raised slightly.
"Shut up, Jack! I knew you were too weak to be leader! I should have pushed you off that cliff instead of that brat all that time ago!"
"This is an order, Roger! Step back!"
Roger glared at Jack, the Beast, Percy, and then Ralph for a long time before lowering his spear slightly. Roger took two steps back and everyone took a breath of relief...until Roger screamed like a insane asylum patient. He charged toward Ralph with his spear pointed towards his heart when Ralph disappeared. Roger slipped on the sand and stuck his spear in the sand.
He saw Percy and the Beast panicking to stand and get away from him so he grabbed the Beast's ankle and pulled down. The Beast fell to the ground and tossed sand into the air, blinding Roger and herself.
Roger still had a hold of her ankle and was digging his dirty fingernails into the skin, breaking it and causing it to bleed. The Beast cried out and tried kicking Roger in the face to try and distract him but he was avoiding her feet.
"Roger! Let go!"
"Never!"
"ROGER, LET HER GO!"
Ralph and Jack grabbed Roger's shoulders and pulled to get him off of her. Roger tried so hard to keep a hold on her foot that he didn't notice little Percy holding a rock until it made contact with the back of his neck. Roger was knocked unconscious by the little boy and the Beast was able to pull her injured foot away from the grubby hands.
She was breathing hard and she was crying silent tears of fear. Her heart was pounding in her ears and she felt the world go fuzzy and warm like the sand under her. She had never been so scared of anything or anyone in her entire life. The world grew dark and she felt sick.
The Beast was watching Ralph and Jack talk about what to do with from the corner of her eye while Percy was sleeping by her side. They didn't know that she was watching them or that she was awake at all.
"He's not going to stop until she's-"
"So what will we do? We can't...we can't kill him...there's too much death already..."
"Either we kill him or she hides away in the forest...it seems like the easiest option."
"But...she's been living alone for so long...all she wants is to stay with us..."
"Us...or you?"
The Beast opened her eye before quickly closing it. She could feel the tense air around Jack and Ralph; were they looking at her?
"...Jack let's not start some stupid assumptions..."
"I've seen how you look at her...it's been a long time, Ralph."
"Jack stop. She's confused and she wants to go home as much as we do."
"I think she just wants to-"
"...R-ralph?" The Beast whimpered softly before slowly sitting up. Ralph was by her side in seconds, asking her if she was hurt. The Beast shook her head and looked down at Percy, still curled at her side.
The Beast knew that she was going to have to leave...she couldn't lose Percy or Ralph now...
Roger was struggling against the vines that bound him together. He watched the moon rise high in the sky as he wiggled his way out of the crudely knotted ropes. He picked up the knife that belonged to Jack and walked over to Ralph's lean-to. He knew that she was there sleeping there.
He entered the shelter to see Ralph, Percy and the Beast curled together like a small family in one bed. The Beast was sleeping, her arms curled around both Percy and Ralph like a mother would do to her husband and children.
He didn't know what he hated the most: The Beast sleeping soundly or the fact that his two enemies looked so happy together.
Roger knocked the shelter over on the boy and Ralph, awaking everyone up in the lean-to. He grabbed the long hair of the Beast and pulled her away from the destroyed building.
She kicked and screamed but he was not going to be stopped this time. He put the knife to her throat and told her to be quiet; the Beast stopped screaming but began to cry silently as she watched Ralph and Percy try to stop Roger.
"One more move and I cut her throat! I'll do it!"
Percy stopped and clung to Ralph, who stopped and glared at Roger. Roger in turn, took the knife away from her throat and instead plunged it into her stomach. She screamed like a phantom from hell, waking up everyone and deafening Roger. She pulled out the knife before cutting her hair. She flopped onto the sand and cut Roger's legs in an effort to defend herself. Roger fell and reached for the knife again.
He grabbed it but it was slippery with her blood. His hand slipped...and the blade cut his wrist with a deep cut. He dropped the knife and fell back. The Beast was too weak to move away, but it didn't matter...Roger was dying...
"Beast!"
Ralph and the other boys crowded around her to try and keep her awake but she couldn't keep her eyes open...
"How is she?"
"She's not doing well, sir..."
Ralph sighed and stuck his hands in the sand.
Without proper medical things, she'll die...I don't want her to die...damn you, Roger, damn you to hell...
"Sir? She...she wants to see you..."
Ralph walked over to the tree shading the Beast from the harsh sun as she rested. She had leaves as bandages and she looked sick.
"Beast?"
"...Ralph..."
"I'm here...what do you need?"
"...Ralph...my name...Rosy..."
"Your...your name is Rosy?"
Rosy nodded weakly and reached for Ralph's hand. He grasped it tightly before she sighed.
"Rosy?"
She motioned for him to come closer, which he did; he put his face next to her ear and turned red when he felt her lips on his cheek.
"Rosy...good person?"
"Rosy...you're a great person..."
Rosy didn't move and Ralph moved back and saw her paling, "Rosy! Rosy, hold on!"
She didn't answer, but her grip was failing, "Rosy, Rosy please..."
Finally, like the slowly sinking sun, Rosy's breathing slowed down, and her cheeks turned white. She looked peaceful and safe, finally at rest.
Ralph felt his tears sliding down his face as he stared at Rosy's still figure. The tears dripped off his face onto hers, and it looked like she was crying too. Ralph's heart was hurting and all he wanted was to hold Rosy one more time...but...that would never happen again...
