Chapter 11: Brooms and Bad Dreams

Ginny and Mia were looking for to have their first flying lesson. As soon as Monday came the firsts grade of Gryffindor were nervously. Mia was the only one who was claimed and sleepy. She had a nightmare last night. The nightmare was that Ginny and Harry were in danger, there was a man who talked with something, and it was huge. There was a lot of blood. Her scar hurt and then she waked up. She decided not to tell her brother about it for now.
Harry who knew that his sister won't be so nervously noticed that something isn't quit with her and decided to ask her if everything is alright. She said that yes, she just had read a book and get sleep very late, and she also looking for the first flying lesson. Harry remind her that the broom won't be so fast but she said that she doesn't care about it at all.
Mia, Ginny and other Gryffindor's firsts grade will have their first flying lesson with Slytherin and Mia is sick of seeing Daria laughing at her and make so attention about that Mia is famous and she don't.
Daria certainly did talk about flying a lot. She complained loudly about first years never getting on the house Quidditch teams and told long, 'maybe she doesn't know about that Harry get to the house Quidditch team last year' Mia thought to herself when she heard once Daria's complaining's.
After Harry got a copy of the Daily Prophet, and see that it isn't interesting he heard how the conversation between first's grade and seconds was about Quiddich and joined to it.
Neville, Dean and Hermione told that they were nervous about flying because they hadn't fly before. Ok escape Neville but even that he had flown sometimes, he preheated to be on the ground. Dean never flown on broom because he came from Muggle family, even though he was excited. Hermione as well was like Dean. This was something you couldn't learn by heart out of a book - not that she hadn't tried.
Mia got a letter from her parents that wished her good luck on the first flying lesson at school and also it was written there: '…. Mr. Potter and your Dad had a deal: if after your first lesson you will join to the Quiddich team as Harry so Dad will need to pay to your grandfather, if not so grandfather will pay dad.'
Mia started to laugh and gave Harry to read the note. He chuckled with her until Hermione started a little lecture to her and Ginny about the flying.
The Flying Lesson:
Later that day Mia, Ginny and the other Gryffindors hurried down the front steps onto the grounds for their first flying lesson. It was a clear, breezy day, and the grass rippled under their feet as they marched down the sloping lawns toward a smooth, flat lawn on the opposite side of the grounds to the forbidden forest, whose trees were swaying darkly in the distance.
The Slytherins were already there, and so were twenty broomsticks lying in neat lines on the ground. Mia had heard Fred, George and Ron Weasley and Harry as well complain about the school brooms, saying that some of them started to vibrate if you flew too high, or always flew slightly to the left.
Their teacher, Madam Hooch, arrived. She had short, gray hair, and yellow eyes like a hawk.
"Well, what are you all waiting for?" she barked. "Everyone stand by a broomstick. Come on, hurry up."
Mia glanced down at her broom. It was old and some of the twigs stuck out at odd angles. Her broomstick at home is better, she also knew that when she will join the Quidditch team, she hope so her family will buy to her the newest broom and for Harry too as she heard him complain about his broomstick speed.
"Stick out your right hand over your broom," called Madam Hooch at the front, "and say 'Up!"'
"UP everyone shouted.
Mia's broom jumped into her hand at once, but it was one of the few that did. Ginny's jumped into her hand at the same time as Mia's.
Madam Hooch then showed them how to mount their brooms without sliding off the end, and walked up and down the rows correcting their grips. Mia and Ginny were delighted when she told Daria he'd been doing it wrong for years.
"Now, when I blow my whistle, you kick off from the ground, hard," said Madam Hooch. "Keep your brooms steady, rise a few feet, and then come straight back down by leaning forward slightly. On my whistle - three - two -one"
Mia and Ginny flew little and came down. Then Madam Hooch showed them some tricks and asked each one who she saw fly good little questions about his\her background in flying. She saw at once that Mia and Ginny fly like Harry and Charlie and decided that after the lesson she would talk with them and with Proffesor McGonagall.
"Great Job everyone! 20 points for Gryffindor for the best right and safe flying from Ginny Weasley and Mia Potter. Girls don't leave with others I want to talk to you two right after. Miss Levifman, (Levifman is Daria's last name) at the beginning of the lesson I gave you 10 points for that you answer me right on my question, now I want took 5 points less because you bothered Mia while she was flying. So only 5 points for Slytherin now you all may go just put the brooms on the ground"
"Weasley, Potter had you thought about to join to your house Quiddich team? You both have a lot of potential, it seems like flying is your nature. Isn't it Mia? You well know it from Harry. You feel very self in your broom and you too Ginny. So I wander if you and your parents wouldn't have a problem? Of course I will talk with McGonagall and made an order for new brooms and we need to talk to Oliver Wood…. Let me see. After your Dinner please come to our teachers table and we will talk there"
"Thank you Madam" Mia and Ginny thanked her at the same time.
"Off you go"
"Wow! I can't believe for what she just say. If everything will be on the right way we both will play Quiddich, maybe we can replace one of the chasers that will sick or something. Very nice idea. I like it" Mia said and smiling. They rushed to the Great Hall for their lunch and decided that they won't tell nobody the big news.
"So girls how was your first flying lesson?" Harry asked Mia and Ginny.
"It was great we got 10 points each one." Mia answered and started to fill her plate with chicken and crisps.
"Ginny youn't afaid to fly?" Fred asked his sister with full mouth of food.
"No, I had Mia by my side, so I didn't afraid" Ginny said proudly and high fived with her best friend.
After the dinner Mia and Ginny went to the teachers table, before that Hermione asked them with a puzzled look "Where are you going? Something happened?"
"No, Hermione. Everything is fine, Proffesor McGonagall told us to come to talk with her right after the dinner, you can wait us in the common room" and with that the girls turned around and went to Madam Hooch.
While Mia and Ginny were walking towards the teachers table they saw that one of the Gryffindor students was talking with Proffesor McGonagall, they suspected that it was Oliver Wood, who was captain Quiddich team of Gryffindor.
"Ahh, Weasley, Potter I am so glad that you are here, Minerva let's take them to the teachers room to talk privately there." Madam Hooch said it and with her words two teacher's and three students went to the teacher's room.
"Potter, Weasley, this is Oliver Wood. Wood - I've found you two replaces." Madam Hooch said and Proffesor McGonagall nodded as agreement.
Wood's expression changed from puzzlement to delight.
"Are you serious, Madam, Professor?"
"Absolutely," said Professor McGonagall crisply. "They both seemed so natural on the brooms. I even gave the Quaffle just for a game and they were excellent. I've never seen anything like it, well I seen three times, James Potter Mia's father but it was only when he was in grade 2, Charlie Weasley when he was in grade 4 and Harry from last year. Was that your first time on a broomstick, Potter, Weasley?"
"No, Professor. I regularly flowed with my dad and brother in our backyard of the Potter Manor, I flew couple of times on Harry's broom and last month flew on Percy's broom when Harry and I were in the Burrow" Mia said and then Ginny added "It was my second time Professor".
Mia was excited and now she must to said to Professor that her parents would buy a better broom for her and Harry (her birthday gift to him), the school don't need to do it for them, but for Ginny yes, it will be better.
"When the lesson had finished, I asked them to fly again and gave them Quaffel and they threw it to each other in the perfect way, like they had practice before it, it was very nice to watch them" Madam Hooch told Wood. "Now when one of your Chasers will be sick or couldn't play because he\she have a reason, one of this two can change. And even while it will be break-time they could change and others will rest" Wood was now looking as though all his dreams had come true at once.
"Ever seen a game of Quidditch, Potter, Weasley?" he asked excitedly.
"Of course, last year I was here on Harry's first game" Mia said proudly.
"I saw some games with my dad and brothers" Ginny added.
"They just the build for a Chasers, too," said Wood, now walking around both girls and staring at them. "Light - speedy - we'll have to get him a decent broom, Professor - a Nimbus 2002 or a Cleansweep Seven, I'd say."
I shall speak to Professor Dumbledore and see if we can't bend the first-year rule again. Heaven knows, we need a better team than last year, last year was brilliant team and thank god for Harry we won but I want more winning…"
Professor McGonagall peered sternly over her glasses at Mia.
"I want to hear you're training hard, Potter, Weasley or I may change my mind about punishing you both." Then she suddenly smiled.
"Your both fathers would have be proud now, I am going now to my office to write your parents a letter and don't worry about the broom I will take care for It." she said. "But Professor, I am going now to the owlly to write a thank letter to my mom about the good luck letter that she sent me but if it ok from you write to her that I really thank them and I love them, and btw about the broom: My family and I decided to buy Harry a Nimbus 2001 so just tell them to send the broom and I will get his and only for Ginny's broom take care"
"Of course I will. Don't worry Mia" she said and went out of the room. They went right after her and comeback to Gryffindor room where their friends were waiting for them.
"So? Why did you both go to the teacher table?" Ron asked them
"Well we are in the team! We will be changing Chasers in the Gryffindor team!" Mia shouted and everyone screamed and cheered.
"Good Luck sis. But what about the brooms?" Harry asked his sister.
"Don't worry about it. You will understand that everything is take care of" after that they all sat doing their homework and after 2 hours they went to the Great Hall.
At the Great Hall:
"So what about the brooms Mia?" Harry asked Mia and then continued "But first years never - you must be the youngest house player in about a century, of course right after Harry. He is the first." said Ginny, shoveling pie into her mouth. She felt particularly hungry after the excitement of the afternoon. "Well, I talked with Proffesor McGonagall and we decided that I will get your Nimbus, you will get your 'before Christmas present' Nimbus 2002 and Ginny will get a Cleansweep Seven or even Nimbus 2001 if they have it still ." Mia said in a proudly voice.
"Held on, you said Nimbus 2002?" Harry and Ron were amazed and said it together.
"Yes, Harry it is Nimbus 2002. Your parents wanted to surprise you in the Christmas but now the plan is change" Ginny said with a happy voice.
"We start training next week," said Harry.
"Yes we know, and we will get the brooms soon" Mia said.
Fred and George Weasley now came into the hall, spotted the girls, and hurried over.
"Well done," said George in a low voice. "Wood told us. We're on the team too - Beaters."
"I tell you, we're going to win that Quidditch cup for sure this year, again" said Fred. "We haven't won since Charlie left, and still we won last year with you Harry, but this year's team is going to be brilliant. You must be good, Mia, Ginny, Wood was almost skipping when he told us."
"Anyway, we've got to go, Lee Jordan reckons he's found a new secret passageway out of the school."
"Bet it's that one behind the statue of Gregory the Smarmy that we found in our first week. See you." Fred and George had hardly disappeared when someone far less welcome turned up: Daria, flanked by her two friends.
"So I will see you flying in the sooner match?"
"Amm Daria right? Well let go my sister and get out of here it isn't your table and isn't your business" Harry said and stood up to be next to his sister.
"Ok, ok. Girls come 'on. Mia, I didn't finish with you yet" she said it and went back to her table.
"Hahaha…. It is so funny to see how you Harry need to deal with Malfoy and you Mia need to deal with this Daria. It is like the Devil came from the Hell for you two" said Sir. Nikolas and fly away before Mia or Harry could answer.
"Well this is true." Neville said and they all began to laugh.
After the dinner Harry and the others had an Astronomy lesson and Mia and others first grades had there evening off so she and Ginny went to the owlly to write letters to their families and do their homework in the common room.
That night Mia started to have nightmares.
The Dark Nightmares:
...Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Mia were sitting in the library when Mia started to hear a strange voice in her head….
'Give me it, let me came into it, I need this thing, I need to become stronger, I feel blood, Ahh the smell of blood, it good…..'
"What was that? Have you hear it?" Mia asked them.
"What did you hear little sister?" Harry asked his sister with not such a surprise face, he had knew that something is happening or will happen. As you know He's never looking for trouble, trouble usually looking for him. And when Mia is listening to something strange, have bad dreams or dreams about the close future, it means that something bad gonna happen very soon.
"I don't know it was a sound like a voice of an animal and it was sliding, it was said something about blood…."
"Stop thinking about it is nothing" Ron said and then they left the library.
After some minutes….
Suddenly the dream change. Mia saw in front of her with Harry's eyes all the people that she cares and love. She saw herself, her friends, her family but not Harry and also all the teachers with blood, looked like stones, dead, cold. Near them was standing a student in Slytherin cloak, watching it and laughing.
"Hahaha… aaawwww poor Harry Potter, finely we met on your last minutes."
"Who are you?" Harry asked angrily….
and then Mia waked up full of tears.
"Mia, Mia… everything is fine. Look at me!" Ginny tries to calm down her friend.
"Do you want I call someone?"
"No, stay here, It was just a nightmare, come back to sleep, I am fine."
Couple of days later Ginny was writing in a very strange notebook. This notebook was like a person that helps her to deal with stuff: like how to not tell to your best friend that you held a thing from the dark arts stuff, how to do things that Harry will start to see them and notice her and what is happening to her….
But once Mia and Ginny were together Ginny decided to let Mia see it and try it too.
"Well, what do you think this notebook is?" Mia asked
"I think it is a diary of a student from Hogwarts. It is a special Diary, you can't see anything, when you start writing something, after some time you get an answer."
"Cool, I want to try: Hello, I am Mia Potter and you?"
'Hello Mia, I am Tom Riddle, welcome to my diary and welcome to Hogwarts when I was a student here…'
"His name is Tom Riddle? This name was in my nightmares every night. Are you sure it is ok? I feel that something isn't right here at all. All the thing with the toilet room, the water, the cat the words on the wall…."
"Mia, clam down. Everything is really fine. It is really nothing that we two can care of" Ginny said and then breathe in relief. She should not show it to Mia. 'It was a bad idea' she thought to herself.
'Hmm… Diary, well the only way to get it is from the Diagon Alley… But when and how she could get it?' Mia thought.
"Amm… Ginny did you remember how you get the diary?"
"No, I didn't know. Only I remember that when I got all the books I saw it there with them".
"How strange" Mia said and then thought 'It must be something from the dark arts and the dark lord, I need to wait for more stuff to came up and later go straight to Proffesor Dumbledore and talked with him or wait for another nightmare that will give me all the clues that I need…'
