Chapter 12 - Concussion

I felt like I was swimming in a sea of confusion - like you read in books, when a character doesn't know what to do, like, at all - they say that they are swimming in a sea of confusion. Thats how I felt. Like I was swimming in a sea of confusion. Like literally swimming - the air was thick and heavy, like water in a swimming pool, and I suddenly felt extremely relaxed, not stiff and horrible like I had felt before. I saw a green field in the distance and I willed my heavy legs to move towards it, but instead of walking I was soaring above the ground like an angel.

My children - my own little angels - were running around on the field, playing properly, not fighting or arguing like I always had to tell them off for. I shouted down to them.

"Toby! Harper! Gus!" But they didn't hear me. I tried to 'float' down to them, but I hit something invisible before I got to them - a forcefield, maybe? I lifted my leg and stomped down hard to try and get their attention, but it was to no avail. They were having so much fun, I almost didn't want them to notice me. The puppies were there too - and - Manchee?

I watched them play for a little while, and then I suddenly saw the Mayor's face right in front of my eyes - it flickered back to the field and then the Mayor's face again - I heard Todd screaming - and then I was screaming myself on the floor with the Mayor standing over me, saying;

"Alright little girlie?" he smirked. "On your way."
