Remember that one time in chapter one when I said I'd be updating regularly? Well, it turns out I'm either A) a liar or B) delirious. But I did just delete one of my stories and my other one has approximately 6 chapters left so that should be getting finished in the next few months as well. This story has around 37 chapters planned (more if I want to go on) so I think that's why I always put it on the back burner. Just because it's so intimidating to think about.
But do not fear, chapter 34 is already written so you'll at least have THAT chapter on time... whenever it comes out.
Addie was acting weird.
That's the only word Logan could think of to describe the brunette. It had been three days of her avoiding him, not answering her phone and only occasionally talking to Carlos or James. But whenever Logan tried talking to her, she'd try to get away as fast as she could.
But the real reason Addie was doing this was solely so the Rushers wouldn't have anything they could hate her for. She refused to take pictures with any of the boys, she made sure to never mention anything Big Time Rush related on her Twitter account and she tried not to look at her phone too often because she knew the only thing she'd be getting was people telling her to go kill herself.
And Kendall wasn't helping.
She could understand where he was coming from; she was the sole reason Logan was sent to the hospital and all of the sudden she's touring with them and taking his friends away. But he also didn't know her and how much his cruel words and looks of hate were hurting her. None of the boys knew how much hate she was actually getting and she would never admit it to them.
So instead, she just stayed quiet, biting her tongue and trying her best to fake a smile.
Like now, when she was sitting on the couch in the green room, a few hours before a show. She was nervously playing with her fingers and Logan was curiously watching from the side. He was pretending to watch TV but really he was watching the brunette. Finally, he grabbed the remote and hit the 'power' button so Addie would finally look up at him.
"Seriously, what's wrong? You've been acting like a stranger for the past three days and we're supposed to be best friends. What's going on with you?" Logan asked and guilt filled Addie's eyes.
"Nothing," she squeaked. "I'm fine."
"Bullshit, you're clearly not fine!" Logan snapped, trying his best to keep his voice down. "Why can't you just tell me what's wrong?"
"Because there's nothing wrong," Addie looked down again and gave him an unconvincing shrug. "I always act like this."
"You never act like this," Logan corrected. When she didn't say anything, he sighed. "Please?"
Addie stood up, staring Logan in the eyes as confidently as he could. "Listen Logan, I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me." And then she left.
Logan almost believed her if he didn't see her pushing the cuticles back on her pointer fingers with her thumb. It was a weird habit she had since she was a kid and Logan quickly figured out that she either did it either when she was guilty or lying. Or both. And the thought wasn't comforting to the pop star.
Logan let out a loud groan when the door closed again, leaving him alone in the room. Carlos was somewhere with Alexa, James was talking on the phone with someone, and Logan didn't have the slightest clue where Kendall was.
But Addie did. The second she walked out of the room, she spotted the dirty blond boy. When he saw her, a mean smirk fell on his lips. "So a little birdy told me that the fans hate you."
"What birdy was this?" Addie asked quietly as she started walking away, hoping he didn't follow. He did.
"Twitter. I've been getting a lot of DM's about how much everyone hates you," Kendall smirked. "And wow, do they hate you. Alexa didn't even get this much and she married the guy."
"I just ignore it; it's not a big deal," Addie lied through her teeth. "Thanks for caring though."
"Caring wasn't exactly what I was doing," he sneered. "They're right though. You deserve all the hate you're getting."
That one hurt, especially because it wasn't coming from a bunch of strangers, it was coming from Kendall. But once again, she couldn't help but agree with him.
"Right," Addie muttered as she turned the corner and finally, Kendall stopped following her. It was like he realized he wasn't going to get a rise out of her and just gave up... for now that is. This was like high school all over again.
"Hey Adds!" The Australian turned around to see another blonde, only this one was much more friendly.
"Hey Al," Addie grinned and pulled the actress in for a hug. The two had grown close in the past few days and she was easily one of Addie's best girl friends.
"So Carlos said that Logan said that you've been acting weird lately. What's going on?" Alexa asked casually and in that moment, Addie wanted to drop off the face of the Earth. It was like everyone was bugging her today and she didn't know how much longer she could take it.
She was about to tell Alexa another lie when a sudden though hit her; Alexa had been through this before. Not only with critics judging her acting and magazines judging her clothes, but also Rushers going after her when she started dating Carlos. If one person knew what being hated was like, Alexa would be that person. "Actually there is something bugging me but I can't really go up to the guys with it..."
"Oh?" Alexa urged her to continue.
"Ever since that Q&A video the boys made a few days ago, I've been getting a lot of..."
"Hate?" Alexa filled in the blanks. "I get why you can't go up to the guys with it but don't keep this bottled up inside. Just remember that these people who hate you also don't know you. It's not that they don't like you as a person, but it's that they don't like the idea of you. For a lot of the fans, music and BTR has saved their lives and to them, you're a threat."
"So what, they think because I'm here Big Time Rush is going to change?" Addie wrinkled her nose at the thought. "But that doesn't make any sense!"
"It doesn't have to," Alexa shrugged. "This is my advice; just go on with your life how you would if they weren't there. Over time, they'll start to realize that neither you or Logan is going anywhere and they'll back off. You might even get some fans yourself."
Addie nodded, finally starting to understand. It still didn't really make complete sense in her head but she had to prove to the Rushers that she was here to stay. And if that meant a little more #Laddie, then so be it.
Once again, four boys jogged off stage, sweat dripping from their brows and their limbs feeling like noodles. But thankfully today, they wouldn't be going out for a good half hour because some of the opening acts would be out, greeting everyone and selling merchandise so BTR had some time to relax.
Logan collapsed on a recliner chair, leaning back and closing his eyes. He only opened them again when he heard Addie softly call his name. There she was, in leggings and a huge hoodie, holding coffee and a donut again. He was completely fine with this being their routine, even if it ended up with him eventually becoming fat. "Hey Addie, are you feeling any better?"
"Uh, yeah, I actually am," she grinned and handed him his post-concert food.
"Come cuddle," he slurred, holding out his hands. It wasn't a romantic gesture; he just handed to cuddle with his best friend for a while. And Addie knew that so she limped over to the recliner and squeezed into the small space left on it, curling up to him. Her head was on his chest and his arms were carelessly wrapped around her. "Your hair smells good."
"Hair stylist perks," Addie joked.
"Mmm," Logan hummed. "I love this."
"Love is for couples," Addie snorted. "I laff this."
"Laff?" Logan asked and Addie shrugged. "Is that like a mild form of love for friends?"
"Sure. I laff you."
"I laff you too!" Logan grinned and closed his eyes shut again, drawing patterns on Addie's clothed back.
Flash!
Their eyes shot open to see Carlos and James standing mischievously in front of them, Carlos' iPhone in his hand. "This is going on Twitter," James smirked and Addie's face paled.
"NO!" she screamed and leapt off of Logan, running as fast as she could after the laughing boys. But the fact that her legs were significantly shorter and she couldn't run very fast with a limp anyway, they were out of her site in seconds. And all she could do was gloomily log into her Twitter and watch as her notifications blew up once again. But this time, there were at least a few more people who liked her.
The picture looked cute though, she had to say that much. Both their eyes were closed and they had sleepy grins on their faces. One hand was placed lovingly over Addie's back and the other was still wrapped around her but it was holding a maple glazed donut. A coffee was on the floor next to the recliner. Carlos captioned it:
[Cuddle sessions after the show! #Laddie]
"Aw that's cute!" Logan piped up from where he still sat on the recliner chair. He was typing something in his phone and not a second later, another comment was added to the picture.
[I totally ship #Laddie]
Addie wanted to slap him for being so stupid but he was also unaware of all the hate she was getting. He was only joking and he didn't expect anyone to take it seriously. Addie couldn't blame him for that.
'Just remember that these people who hate you also don't know you. Go on with your life how you would if they weren't there,' Alexa's words rang in her head. If Addie wanted to stop the hate, she'd have to prove to these fans that she wasn't going anywhere.
So before she could chicken out, Addie's fingers flew across the keyboard.
[I laff you Logan!]
Logan laughed from the other side of the room and her notifications went off again.
[Laff you too Adds!]
The hate came in as strong as ever and a small piece of Addie really regretted replying to that stupid picture. But to be honest, most of her just didn't give a shit.
I hope the cuteness made up for the wait! I seriously love Laddie so much, what do you guys think? :) I'll TRY to update more frequently but we all know that's a bit of an empty promise. The next chapter is kind of cute though so I'll probably be more inspired to write. I feel really bad about the slow updates but I just have a lot on my plate at the moment :( Forgive me guys! I love ya'll!
