At the (*) listen to Ne-Yo's Never Knew I Needed (it's perfect)
Six months later…
Alex stood in the men's dressing room next to P.J who sent an approving look to each other. Alex was wearing a nice black tuxedo, with a light blue cravat tied across his neck. He looked in the mirror and slicked back his black hair, only to have a piece fall in front of his yellow eyes. Alex crouched down and fixed P.J's fur around his cheeks, P.J fixed his light blue cravat, similar to his brother. "Well Uncle James.. Let's get a look at you." Ratigan walked behind the curtain and stood in front of the boys. He was in a black tuxedo, but with no cape on his shoulders. The lapel shimmered with the finest silk, and a dark blue silk cravat tied across his neck. He took a last glance of himself in the mirror as Alex walked towards him with a medium black box. The boy smiled "This was my father's.. he left it to me, I think today you need this more than I do.." he smiled and opened the box, showing a silver pocket watch. It glimmered in the sunlight as he took it out of the case and placed it in Ratigan's gloved hands.
"Alex I cannot-"
Alex's ears perked up as the door opened. Nicolas stood in the doorway "Ready sir?" Alex smiled and patted his Uncle on the back "More than ready."
The sun shined through the stain glass windows of the church as Ratigan stood at the end of the aisle. The crowd was chatting among each other, Including Basil and Dawson dressed their , the pianist began to play an enchanting tune on the piano, alerting everyone's attention to the aisle.
The first pair walking down the aisle was Bill and Samantha, they both smiled as they walked down the red carpet. Next was Penelope, Lorenzo and Girdy, clinging to both of his arms, fighting slightly whoever got his attention, Nellie slapped her head in embarrassment. The girls were all wearing light blue gowns with a dark blue sash tied around the waist, and small cap sleeves; simple but elegant. The next person was Nicolas and Ginger walking down, sending smug looks of affection to one another. Fidget walked down and fell in the middle of the aisle, giving the audience a chance to chuckle. After he ended his run at the aisle, Victoria and Alex walked together the maid of Honor and the Best man; walking together as Alex winked at Mavis, who in return blushed hard.
At that last moment, P.J walked down the aisle. He held a small blackboard with him, wide enough to see the bright white letters on the board; Here she comes… everyone sent a comforting laugh to the little gesture as everyone stood up to welcome the bride.
*Rosalie stood in the sunlight as everyone; Including Ratigan, began to smile wide. She was wearing a pure white gown that trailed gracefully behind her. The gown was at an empire waist, and had a glittering bodice of beaded embroidery, shaped like flowers. The bottom of the dress was a soft fabric, covering the silk underneath. Her dark auburn hair was placed in an elegant twist, as the top of her hair was covered in small blue flowers, holding the veil in place. Her eyes were on Ratigan the entire time, cherishing every moment until they met again at the end of the aisle.
When she finally ended at the aisle, Ratigan reached out his hand, which she accepted. The priest smiled at the loving couple and began the ceremony. After the main section, the priest smiled at the couple "Now the couple would like to give their vows to one another."
Rosalie cleared her throat and brought out a folded piece of paper, from the pocket of her dress "A couple years ago.. I never would have given you a second glance." The crowd laughed "We clearly didn't see eye to eye when we met, and I know you didn't approve of me either." She smiled "My life has been full of choices written for me, but you allowed me to write my own fate.. to follow my own heart, even at your frustration." she noticed him chuckle "Your reputation of a thief and mastermind definitely did have a purpose." She looked up at him, as her eyes filled with tears "..Because you've stolen my heart." She reached out and held his hand "The cream to my coffee, the air that I breathe.. I love you."
The priest smiled and motioned to the Professor "Whenever you're ready sir.."
Ratigan smiled nervously and brought out a crumpled piece of paper out of his vest pocket. "Admitting that we didn't get along is a broad understatement." Rosalie smiled as he continued "How was I to know that a loud American would somehow stumble into my life, thrashing about like a storm." She playfully stuck her tongue out at him, making the crowd laugh "Now that I have you in my life, I vow to never let you go. I cannot think clearly without you by my side, advising and attending to my frustration and triumphs. You are the strongest person I know." Rosalie smiled "Well besides me." he crowd chuckled as he grabbed her hand lovingly "..And I promise to do anything to make your dreams come true... even at my frustration." He added "I love you." The crowd awed and Rosalie looked behind her to see Nellie and Nora crying softly in the pues.
Next, the priest opened the books "Now, Padriac James Ratigan, do you take Rosalie Anne Hampstead as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?"
"I do."
"Rosalie Anne Hampstead." He turned to her "Do you take Padriac James Ratigan as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?"
She smiled wide "I do."
"Wonderful, can we have the rings please?" P.J walked up and rested Ratigan's ring in Rosalie's hand, she smiled and slipped the ring on his finger. Ratigan slipped his hand into his pocket, bringing out a silver ring, a soft pink pearl rested in the center, as two small silver flowers rested on both sides. Rosalie stood in shock as she read the inscription on the inside of the ring Our Love is Strong she smiled as he slipped the new ring on her finger.
"By the power vested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." Ratigan stood frozen, not being able to realize this dream became a reality.
P.J tugged on the tails of his coat and smiled "You can kiss her now Uncle James!"
Rosalie and Ratigan looked at each other in amazement as Ratigan picked him up and smiled, tossing him into the air. Rosalie held him and kissed him on the head, tossling his hair. Ratigan set him down and grabbed his bride, kissing her passionately as he dipped her.
The priest smiled while the crowd cheered "May I happily introduce Mr. and Mrs. P. James Ratigan!" the crowd stood up in triumph and applauded the couple as they made their way down the aisle. Alex hugged his sister and little brother, ready for a new journey in their lives.
At the reception, everyone applauded as the Bride and groom made it into the reception hall, which was lit by lanterns that were hung on the ceiling. Rosalie noticed Lorenzo with Penelope and Girdy. Both of them forcing him to give them his attention. Rosalie shook her head as Lorenzo shrugged his shoulders in return. Ratigan smiled at her "He seems to have moved on."
Rosalie rose to the stage and brought her bouquet over her head, she threw the blue flowers behind her. The girls began to jump up to grab the bouquet as the blue forget-me-knots landed in Ginger's hands, just as she was talking to someone. The boys patted Nicolas's back as Ratigan smiled "You better get started Nicolas." He laughed as Nicolas fainted in a panic, being woken up by Bill and the boys.
Mavis made her way across the room to where Alex and Victoria were sitting "I made a promise Alex." She grabbed him and kissed him on the lips, Victoria watched in amazement as she let go and smiled "Thanks for a great first kiss." Victoria slammed her fist on the table as Alex playfully nudged her "You lack in your probability skills dear sister."
Rodger made his way to the main table to congratulate the couple "Congratulations to both of you. Professor you have to be wary of this one, she's quite a firecracker." They chuckled as Rosalie commented "So what are your plans for you and Mavis.."
"Well I've been looking at suitable flats here in London, and I hear that the trade business has its perks here." Rosalie and Ratigan smiled as Mavis heard the comment and practically strangled the other kids with her hugs.
Continuing on with the night, Ratigan looked all around him at his new and old friends with a smile. He watched everyone laugh and smile, then he looked at Rosalie dancing with P.J, his little legs dangling as she picked him up. Of all the people in the world, they found one another through fate. He never thought his life would amount to this moment, and he never expected to be around all of this..love. He sighed and walked out to the balcony of the reception hall. Rosalie followed him and sat next to him on the stone bench, resting her head on his shoulder "Ready for another chapter?" she smiled innocently at him.
He smiled and stroked her face "I would not have it any other way." He kissed her passionately, and let go, as they looked to the stars, ready to start another part of their lives.. no matter what part of the road they turn to.. because everything was just a work in progress.
