Chapter 5 – Questionnaires

Hayner once again found himself on the small sofa in Axel's office. Not much had happened in the few days since their last appointment as Hayner had made sure to remain as far away from the elder blonde as possible.

"So boys, anything interesting happen since I last saw you?" He had a slight smirk that made Hayner uncomfortable, almost as if he knew about their encounter just after they left last time.

"No" Seifer answered for him, which made Axel turn to look at the clearly aggravated male.

"Really? Have I had that much of an impact?" His smile didn't quite reach his eyes as he spun a pen in his hand. "Or maybe, have you two been ignoring eachother?" They tensed and he jotted something down, clearly pleased that he had found them out so easily.

"I spoke with Mrs Bath and asked if I could give you an assignment and she agreed that it was a good idea" They glanced at eachother briefly in confusion before Hayner looked back to Axel. This couldn't be good. "I have a questionnaire for each of you, but there is a twist. The questions are about eachother" He handed over two thin folders, each with a few sheets inside.

"How am I supposed to know this shit?" Seifer muttered, flicking through some of the questions.

"Well, as you so nicely asked, I will tell you" Axel smirked as Seifer shot him a glare, before continuing. "You have to do them with eachother, but you have to fill it in yourselves. This forces you to talk and find out more about eachother" Hayner groaned and tossed it back onto the desk, not wanting to hold it for more time than he needed to.

"So why are we here then?" Axel nodded in thought, and leaned onto his desk, pushing the papers back towards him.

"I'm going to leave for half an hour, so you two can fill it in here" He smiled and grabbed his jacket as he stood. "I don't believe for one minute that you'll do it in your own time. I'll be back soon, have fun" With that he was gone, leaving the two boys sitting in silence staring at the folders.

Seifer stood and sighed, moving to sit in Axel's seat to put some distance inbetween them. This also allowed both to look at eachother better for answering and writing down the answer.

"This is bullshit" Hayner complained, but opened his folder anyway and grabbed one of the many pens Axel had in a pot on his desk.

"You don't have to convince me, lamer" They paused and Seifer rolled his eyes. "You… you're very determined" Hayner didn't respond, he still wasn't used to the whole compliment thing. Seifer then leaned across the desk to drag Hayner into an awkward hug before sitting back down.

"Let's just get this over with" Hayner glanced at question one. "Well we already know eachother's age and favourite colour" He flushed when Seifer smirked and scribbled down the right answers.

"Question 3: What is your partner's best quality?" Seifer read, taking a moment to look at Hayner before writing something down. "Before you ask, I'll only tell if you do" Hayner huffed and wrote down 'bravery'.

"Bravery" Seifer paused and raised an eyebrow in question. "I wrote bravery" A look of realisation appeared on Seifer's face before he replied.

"Selfless" Hayner nodded without meeting the no doubt intense gaze, he wasn't sure what to make of that. "Question 4: When is your partner's birthday?" He looked at Hayner expectantly.

"6th October" Seifer nodded and told him his in return, though Hayner already knew it was the 23rd of September. How he knew, he didn't even know himself.

They carried on with meaningless questions that got progressively more personal until they hit the section titled relationships. "Sexual orientation of your partner" Seifer read as if it was the easiest thing in the world, which made Hayner gulp, did he class himself as bi? Was he really gay, and just in denial?

"Not picky" He muttered, glancing at Seifer to see him gazing at him intensely before writing it down. "What about you?"

"Gay" Hayner nearly choked on his own saliva; had he heard right? "Is that so surprising to you Chickenwuss, when have I ever showed interest in a girl?"

"When have you ever showed interest in anyone asshole?" They glared at eachother in silence, both knowing they had broken the conditions, but that didn't stop the argument for escalating. "The only one you show any emotion to is me!" Hayner regretted it as soon as he said it; they had both been ignoring the obvious in fear of delving into something they didn't want to know.

"Oh yeah? Well I could say the same about you, you're just as gay as me!" Both had risen from their seats, papers left forgotten on the desk. Axel wasn't due back for another 10 minutes, which meant that they had plenty of time to get physical without him knowing. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're desperate for my attention" Hayner growled and lunged, pulling Seifer around the desk so he could hit him.

"And you're desperate for me to get it" Seifer punched Hayner in the stomach but received one to the face, pulling both of them to the floor. They rolled around, trying to get the advantage, before Seifer stopped.

Hayner was pinned underneath him, arms held down above his head, a small trickled of blood coming from his lip and before Seifer could stop himself he leant down to lick it up. It didn't take long before Seifer forced his mouth onto Hayner's, their tongue's meeting in a violent dance.

"Well, well, well. This is development I didn't see happening so fast boys" They leapt apart, Seifer stood up, hands in fists while Hayner shuffled away on his butt.

"You said half an hour" Was the only comeback Seifer had.

"I heard fighting, so I thought I'd better stop it, but you seemed to of done it yourself." Seifer was panting as was Hayner, and neither wanted to look at eachother. Hayner knew he had made the nasty comment that started the fight, but Seifer insulted him first.

"No doubt insults were thrown, so the punishment continues as normal. You first Seifer" The red head seemed oddly pleased with their fight as he moved to glance at which question had triggered it.

"This is bullshit, I'm done with you and I'm done with this" Seifer was visibly seething, but before he made it out of the door Axel made a comment that stopped him in his tracks.

"Then face expulsion, and cause Hayner's too" Hayner was sure he stopped for his own benefit, not Hayner's. But he goddamn hoped he had changed his mind, he was going to graduate even if it killed them both.
