so this one is kinda really short... but I had to upload something to this since i've kinda ignored this one for quite a while... not really sure about this one but yeah here it is!
"Georg!" the women said rushing into his arms
"Oh Georg isn't it wonderful?" The older woman said clapping her hands together giving a broad smile "Elsa is here to plan the wedding! The announcement will be in the papers tomorrow!"
Wait... what? wedding? announcement? Georg wriggled himself out of Elsa's embrace to look at Maria who was slowly backing away while tears formed in her eyes. No! This couldn't be happening! She turned around as she ran up the stairs as fast as she could trying to hide her tears. He was getting married? she knew this was all a mistake and that she never should have done this... she ran until she reached her room closing the door behind her letting herself fall on her bed letting the sheets get wet by her uncontrolled sobbing.
"Mother, what are you talking about?" He really needed to see Maria but he needed an explenation first "Well Georg, did you really think you could stay unmarried for so long? it has been four years!" His mother said "And look, Elsa and you would make a great pair, so I arranged some things and now everything is settled!" "There is nothing settled!" He yelled as he made his way upstairs. He could hear her sobbing as he got closer. As he opened her door he ran to her side "Maria I ca-" He tried to explain but he was cut off by a slap in the face from Maria who pushed him away. she got up to get her bag and started packing still not saying a word "Maria please let m-" "I hear you are to be married? congratulations." She cut him off with a cold reply while she brushed past him going into the bathroom to get her robe and toiletries. "Maria I-" He tried again but she still wouldn't listen to him. Maria tried to stay calm but she couldn't. She threw her clothes onto the bed as she yelled: "You're sorry? YOU'RE SORRY? YOU TOOK MY- MY-" she couldn't even say the word out loud "AND YOU'RE SORRY?"
"Maria please! I didn't know she was coming! Hell I didn't even know I was getting married!" He yelled at her trying to get through but she didn't seem to believe him "of course you didn't!" she was fidgeting with her bag not daring to look him in the eyes "NO OF COURSE YOU DIDN'T!" she closed her bag as she angrily threw it at him. Georg just caught it before hitting his stomach. She grabbed her guitar case and snatched her bag out of his hands as she made her way to the door. "It is almost end of the month, my paycheck would be on you desk?" she went cold again but still shaking from her tears. By now the children were inside standing in the hallway "Fräulein Maria?" She heard a little voice. She walked into the hall to see the children. Marta and Gretl ran into her arms. "Why do you have your bags packed?" Marta asked "Are you leaving?" Gretl asked "Oh, darlings! I'm terribly sorry but, yes I have to leave" She said looking down trying to hold back her tears. she heard several no's and why's before getting up to explain herself, what was she going to say? "I eh... my grandfather has gotten ill... and i have to get back to him... I'm so sorry!" Maria hated lying but anything better than the truth "Oh come here!" She opened her arms as the children all ran into her arms. "Now don't cry, this will only be a farewell! It's never a goodbye! Maybe i'll be seeing you all again!" she said drying Liesl's tears with her thumb and ruffling Kurt's hair "Maybe? Maybe won't cut it fräulein Maria! Maybe always ends up forgotten!" Louisa yelled "Oh Louisa don't of course i'll be seeing you!" She hugged them all one last time before making her way down the stairs. She heard all of the children asking questions to their father who ignored them running past them. "Captain? my paycheck?" She hated asking for money in front of the children but she certainly needed it. Georg Followed her into his study.
Once in his study he tried to explain himself again but to no avail "I would like to have my paycheck please captain" She rummaged through his papers trying to find it herself "Maria please listen to me!" He grabbed both her upper arms pushing her against the wall "I love you! And I meant what I said last night!" He still had Maria stuck between him and the wall. "Pl-please l-let go of me" She tried to make out through her crying she was so tired she didn't even had the strength to yell anymore "It would be best if we part our ways" "Maria please!" This was his last chance. He quickly moved closer as his lips touched hers. He could tast the salt of her tears as they ran down her cheeks. Even though how good it felt, Maria quickly pushed him away "Maria then just promise that you'll write! Write to me! Promise me!" He begged her "I don't make promises I can't keep, neither should you!" She packed her bags and the little envelope as she made her way to the door "goodbye captain" She said turning around one last time before walking away. There she went out of his life.
