Despite everything they did...
In the midst of the heat, the flames and the screams, the soul of the righteous man shimmered. It flared bright white even as his body was torn apart, over and over again. Through every despicable torture they visited upon him, still his soul shone out like a beacon, tormenting those inflicting agonies on him. And when, after decades of suffering, the righteous man saved himself from the tortures of Hell and, instead, visited those same tortures upon others; even then, the righteous man's soul shimmered amongst the blood and stink and gore, glorious and brilliant as a guiding star.
